Hi Everyone,
Just wondering if any of you have got any ideas for taming real bad brain fog even if it only lasts an hour or so. My brain fog is particularly bad at work from about 8.30 am until 1.00pm. I often have meetings around this time and thus find it extremely difficult to conduct myself professionally. I generally say as little as possible because usually I have missed something earlier on in the conversation and then end up saying something totally irrelevant or inappropriate.
When I know that I have a meeting to attend or something else where I need my mental faculties (which are virtually gone !) I will have a half cup of coffee with varying degrees of success. Sometimes it will work perfectly and buck me up just enough without anxiety but usually it just makes me worse and I end up very jittery and flipped out. If I don't have any coffee at all, I am so drowsy that I can't comprehend what they are talking about. Holy cow, I can't believe that I am still employed.
Cheers from Rachie

Are you eating a good breakfast and lunch Rachie? If you're hungry or your blood sugar is low, this can cause brain fog.
I've found that drinking some freshly-made vegetable juice gives me an instant perk-up, it really helps me when I am flagging at 4 or 5 pm. Do you juice? When I worked in the past I took some with me in a flask.
Hope this helps, Linda.

You really do need to quit the coffee, it's a sure bet for brain fog if you have mercury toxicity. I get it, so many here have mentioned it too.
Maybe try some oj with a ginseng capsule or two in the morn. Green tea seems to be ok, I water mine down quite a bit and put some xylitol in it. I am truly afraid to drink any high caffiene beverages since my last episode of coffee brain fog which lasted about a week. There are probably other herbal teas or decaf teas that would suit you.
Cilantro and ALA both seem to help brain fog also, assuming you aren't drinking coffee. I am going to get some decaffinated coffee and see how that affects me.
I actually thought that last bought of brain fog was from my chlorella, but no, it was the coffee. I am back to the chlorella without a hitch, I am only drinking green or other decaf tea flavors and feel fine. That coffee brain fog was heavy duty too. It might take a good week to clear up if you have been drinking it steadily, and, if you put the coffee down you'll also find that without the barin fog you don't feel as tired.
Vegetable juice is probably a good idea too like Linda mentioned.

linda is right : the first meal of the day sets the tone for the rest of the day ,but is is very important what you as when you eat ,eggs, dairy and high protein foods are very good for breakfast and throughout the day stay away from sugars ,white flour ,and too much caffiene they will overstimulate the adrenal glands and it can effect you for hours after wards ,the perfect eating schedule would be ,8:00 am good protein breakfast 10::00 am good snack noon good lunch 2:00 pm good snack 6:00 good dinner yhis type of schedule will keep blood sugars and insuline stable all day and you will be able to avoid high and low spikes all day

Here's what ended my brain fog:
Vitamin B complex, 1/2 a 50 mg pill a day Copper supplement, 1 mg every 2-3 days Whey protein (for amino acids) 1 scoop every 2-3 days Flax seed meal 1 tbspn every 2 days Eating more red meat was crucial, also eating some calf's liver every few days. This may be disagreeable, but I think the iron and copper in the red meat and liver helped.
I no longer have any brain fog whatsoever.

Rachie at the risk of doing this topic to death, candida is a prime cause of brain fog (as is mercury). Treating candida can often lift it quite dramatically in some people. Not sure what your health plan is, and possibly you have done this already but keep it in mind. Sugar and high carbs can be a killer.
It's all very well to try and find things to give you a quick "boost", but the problem obviously is there for a reason and something needs to be addressed.
Great if you can find a helpful boost in the meantime, but I would also look to doing something that may help get to the bottom of it.
I also find that a big glass of hot water with the juice of half a lemon mixed with a teaspoon of vitamin C powder can help me in the morning. Even some berocca may help (vitamin B that you can dissolve in water). A boost of these vitamins may give some relief in the morning.
But I will tell you something that did help me at onetime but was pretty expensive. Goji juice. I would just take a capful twice a day and I found I could wake up earlier in the morning and was clearer headed amongst many other benefits it can give.

Hello Rachie. You are very pretty.
I suggest that you make sure to eat a good breakfast with plenty of protein and low carbohydrates. You might want to snack on some dry roasted nuts, which is a good source of protein and magnesium.

I actually hadn't thought about trying cocaine, but now that you mention it... No seriously I don't think that they would appreciate nose bleeds at our meetings !!
Thankyou all so much for your suggestions, I really appreciate it. Apologies for taking so long to get back to as well. Have been out of town for a few days. I will definately try the Hot H2o, lemon juice and vitamin C Bex. The Juice sounds like a good idea too Linda. It is still winter here in Australia but spring will soon be here. I prefer vege juices when it gets warmer for some reason.
I have tried Panax Ginseng and felt no effect, however I haven't tried Siberian Ginseng, which is recommended for females.
I don't think that I am ready for ALA yet. I must admit however that I haven't tried it in conjuction with DMSA though. ALA makes gives me pingy feelings in my head. My capsules are very strong though - 200 mg.
I have just been 2 days now without coffee and I have the biggest headache at the moment. Amazing how this beverage which is incidentally the most commonly used drug in the world affects us so much physiologically. I only used to have one cup a day for morning tea, but it still shows how reliant and dependent I am upon it. More green tea for me!! Doesn't taste as good as coffee though !!
Cheers and thanks from Rachie

Hello Rachie.
Are you taking any antifungals? I recently started taking olive leaf extract in addition to the grapefruit seed extract I have been taking. While I am now experiencing a strong candida die off reaction(muscle ache) my head is so much clearer. I am also taking Molybdenum to help minimize the muscle ache. I am hoping the muscle ache will soon diminish.
As for caffeine, I am down to one cup of coffee a day now. It is very hard to give up coffee completely. I did it for a month a few years ago hoping that it would help me feel better. The headaches went away after a few days, but my craving for coffee stayed strong, and I started drinking it again.

How about Japanese green tea, it is loaded with antioxidants and much lower in caffeine and toxins than green teas from other parts of the world.
Hope you find your solution, and Bex is spot on, doing the candida diet is the best way to get rid of the fog.
Sandi xoxo

Dr Cutlet reccomends alka seltzer gold for brain fog . If it works, it may be because is alkaline.

Hi Rachie:
I had to give up coffee quite a while ago. I know about feeling foggy and lethargic at times. This may be a dumb idea, but it works for me - I use headphones (at work) and sometimes listen to music. For me, it's mainly rock and pop, but it could be any kind of music. Just an idea.... That and deep breathing sometimes helps. But a great song can do wonders.

Cheers and thanks from Rachie Try Ritalin or Adderal, which is cocaine with a PG rating Even if you do not have ADD or ADHD I'm pretty sure you would have similar symptoms with the mercury poisoning. It's not hard to get a prescription for them. And yes cocaine or amphetamines would melt the brain fog very fast, but they are too strong and you would have to deal with the crashing down and no sleep/hunger
