Last year I had a test at a private hospital, who assured me I had severe Mercury poisoning, needed to get all my fillings removed and chelation. I was told my immune system would not recover till then and I would not be able to get rid of viruses. Well guess what went back to same hospital did EDTA challenge test and Mercury not a problem for me now Nickel and Alumininum, neither showed up before. Personally i am sick of this, spent thousands of pounds and havn't go a clue who to trust. And I have to ask myself just how many of us are being conned. Tracy

Tracy, this is ridiculous!!!!! How can you suddenly now have aluminium and nickel? No wonder you're losing faith. It goes from mercury to this? What next???? lead????
Tracy, just curious, do you know what dental materials you have in your mouth as replacement materials? The name of them? I'd be interested to know if you can find out. The name of the composite and bonding material.
I, like yourself, am sick and tired of all of this as well and wonder too how many are being conned. One tries to be optomistic, which is why we keep trying but it really wears you down when you go from one thing to another with no real answers or consistant ones.

Thanks for replying. Its sheer hell isnt it. I am extremely impressed with your timing, I have a job remembering which day of the week it is ! I think the thing that hurts is, I've paid thousnds to this hospital alone, and maybe stupidly had such faith. I suppose we all cling to the hope that someone out there can pinpoint the problem. I've always said again, and again, perhaps stupidly, that if I just know the real cause, the real root of the problem, I could start to get better and know what to do in deciding treatment and whats best. You truly sound like a courageous person and I thank you for the post. I want my life back so badly, and not really for my sake, but my children, partner and friends I have left. I'd love to hear more of your story, obviously only if you want to share it. You could post me privately if you wish. Thanks and Best Wishes to you Tracy.

Dear Bex I have no idea what they are and you know a certain person and I arn't on good terms. Funnily enough a vega test I had done picked up as me not necessarily having a high body buden of it, but a huge sensitivity. I was told not to wear Nickel jewellery and not to eat Broccoli or chocolate as they both have a high Nickel content. Where's the Aliminium come from? your guess is as good as mine mate. If only there was somewhere to go, people we could trust and we could just get well. Its not much to ask is it mate. Why was there no slow build up of the problem, like some symptoms coming. Why did I get so severely ill over night, after being so well. My head is going round in circles. I've always been such a strong willed person, but this Bex has most certainly got me beat. Love you loads Tracy xxxx

EDTA removes more metals than mercury... it's especially used for lead poisoning. It's affinity for mercury is rather low. My doctor used EDTA with me to help lessen my body burden of other metals prior to giving me DMPS injections for the mercury on a weekly basis. If the EDTA is bringing up other metals, you probably should contend with those first because introducing lots of mercury into your bloodstream at the same time can create a lot of stress because of the toxicity created when mercury combines with other metals.
Certain types of cookware, OTC medications and prescription drugs all contain aluminum. Stainless steel and even certain vitamins contain nickel, there may be nickel or aluminum in some of your dental work.

Tracy it is devastating when you see what these things can do to a person and those that were previously very energetic and happy and as you said "strong willed". This stuff or other toxicities like it seem to have an effect on a human being that goes beyond description.
I am racking my brains as to what has happened with you in this. I keep thinking that perhaps you had too much done in one session that may have set off a MASSIVE dumping of stored mercury into your system. Because I know that for some the removal of all their mercury can result in an extended misery of slow detoxing from the organ mercury beginning to dump back out.
This can take months/years. It can be sped up with chelation, but so often you find the person is so toxic that they can barely handle ANY chelation at all. In fact even supplements can send them into a reaction. So what are they supposed to do? Wait the agony out?
For you, I wonder if this might be what is happening. It occured with me and I was a basket case. I did indeed start to heal finally but it took a few years. Unfortunately though I started to heal and get happier, I got hit later with the infection and other problesm which all but annihiliated my immune system, so now I battle with that instead (which in a sense is worse because there is no 'detoxing" from this). It's just a condition now.
You seem, like myself, to have multiple factors going on at onetime. One thing offsetting another to where your body is almost trying to juggle all things at once and it is just overwhelming.
Tracy I really wished the DMSA might have helped you as it is quite a few on this forum. It saddens me that it was yet another difficulty rather than a help. I dont know if you've tried the ALA yet....but at this point according to andy, (3 months or longer) after amaglam removal you are free to use it. Though the dosage side is irritating to take it every 3 hours around the clock, if you try it for a few days, I wonder if this might help (at a really low low dose).
It is the main chelator, DMSA is optional, ALA essential (according to andy). Could this be a possibility sometime for you to try?
I hope you hang in there either way! Hard as it is, just know you got friends on here! Luv Bex

The EDTA is really good stuff btw. In combination with DMPS it worked wonders for me.

I m not saying for one minute I dont believe, in fact I thank you for telling me this, its something I'll have to check up on. Why the heck did they use that then when they were suppose to be testing for Mercury, cos they had confirmed that before with fecal metal test? I am so confused. Please tell me anything more you know about this. Its really important to me as I have to speak to someone at the hospital. Did you find this out anywhere I could check. Thanks again love Tracy xxx You people are great... I am feeling extremely ill today, In fact drop dead ill. I truly need allthe advice and help I can get. Bless you Tracy

as I understand it, it is normal for metal levels to change as you detox. The mercury causes your body to hold on to all sorts of metals (retention toxicity), which can start to be released once the mercury is gone. I saw this in two hair analyses that I have had done - once when I first got sick (3 years ago) and one just recently. The first showed high mercury, with very few other metals present. The latest showed low mercury, and high other metals - antimony was particularly high, but this wasn't an issue in the first hair analysis. I think the hair analysis shows what the body is excreting at the time. I don't know what sort of test you had, but it is possible that this is true for you. Mercury was the issue first of all, but now that you have got rid of your fillings, other metals can also start to move out of your body. In doing so, they would show up as higher than before.
Is this clear as mud?!

Don't know what the EDTA chelates but the metals do come away in layers, your mercury could be hidden under layers of other metals like nickel and lead. And correct me if I am wrong but don't some amalgams contain nickel as well as mercury, silver, copper and tin?

The info is from andy cutlers book 'amalgam illness'. Many others believe that IV EDTA is effective for lead and cadmium but not mercury. The truth is that challenge tests are not very reliable anyway. What would happen if your brain is full of mercury and you have a low body burden? Nothing, no mercury would show up in feces and urine.

I think these are good ideas Tracy. You must be so exasperated and confused, I know I would be.
The first thing I wondered was indeed whether the challenge test was able to pick up the mercury that you very probably have. As others have said here, it might not have done. If your body isn't eliminating much of it right now then maybe it would not have shown up. If it was me in this situation I'd ask myself what my gut feeling was. I'd think back to the point where I really got ill and think about what was going on in my life, what had happened or what had been done to me.
You say your illness seems to have coincided with dental work, is that right? You've had lots of symptoms of mercury poisoning. Other things going on in your body could be resulting from that. Maybe the best thing to do is find a way to chelate that works for you, e.g. the ALA that Bex suggested.
Sometimes even the best doctors don't know how to look deep enough into symptoms to discover their root causes, and make the mistake of treating the symptoms themselves. Sometimes the detective work we do ourselves ends up being the best diagnosis and cure.
Hang in there Tracy, let us know what you decide to do and how things are going for you.
Hugs, Linda.

Challenge tests are meaningless and should not be used to confirm (or exclude) a clinical diagnosis of heavy-metal poisoning.
