Hi there, seems to be some real problems with some people who do or dont treat their candida. Someone on here "Patty" had horrible outcomes from die off and ended up in ER, yet others are a mess from NOT treating it.
I think personally that it is advisable to treat candida, but not to the extreme at first. When i first went on the diet, I was still including limited fruit (one or two a day) at first and limited grain, so I was still getting some carbs in there. Therefore the die off was not as extreme. I had no "sugar" or gluten/wheat, and eliminating those things enabled me to improve A LOT.
But strict diets, though advisable if a person has candida they may need to take it easy at first until they are through the intiial die off. Toxins that are released from dying yeast can include metals being released in the process. This can cause acute toxicity symptoms and I think Patty had this occur with her. I only had this when I went on antifungals. The diet did not do this to me, it only caused the yeast die off that one can expect when they are unable to feed on so much sugar.
So maybe eliminating sugar and gluten is quite dramatic enough in the early stages. But just to get a relief of symptoms at the end of the die off was a life saver for me.
I do not believe that feeding the yeast can ever be justified. It is alreadyovergrown from being in an immune deficient, metal toxic environment. The last thing anybody should do is feed it beyond that point into where it can go into fungal form and devastate a person's health.
