The key here is "carbohydrates."
It is true that carbs are vital for us to function. However, what many people don't realise is that fruit and veg are carbs. Most people do not need other kinds of carbs to function. Some people have a body type that does seem to do better with them, but that isn't the case for most of us.
The body doesn't really treat white flour any differently from sugar, because they are both simple carbs that are very quickly digested, give a blood sugar rush and crash, and leave you craving more. If you are getting bread/pasta cravings then there could be a number of factors: other foods you are eating that trigger cravings (e.g. lots of sweet fruit), candida, low cortisol, general depression.
I have been craving sugar quite a lot these past few months despite my diet being clean, but I think it's a feature of my depression. I am hoping that when the depression goes away, that need to get comfort from sugar will go too. I know what it's like to crave this stuff, I've battled with it all my life. Sounds like you're definitely on the right track though <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> Hang in there. Sugar interferes with chelation, which has been the biggest factor for me in keeping away from it since my amalgams came out.
Linda.
