Patty, telling people that "candida is our friend" is pretty misleading and I think that could be dangerous considering what it's done to many of us. Just as killing candida aggressively with antifungal use can be also. To give someone the impression that candida is our friend could lead people down a very bad road. If had followed this advice at face value, I cannot imagine what would have happened because I know where it was leading me. If Huggins meant it in the respect that the body harbours a certain amount of yeast in a metal toxic environment, he should be clearer on that instead of calling "candida" our friend. Candida is fine when it's at a level the body can handle, it is far from fine when it goes beyond this into a virulent fungal state and this is easily achieved when a person continues with a diet including the stuff that it feeds off, with an immune system already challenged by mercury or other problems. Aids patients are another example of this and what can occur because their body can no longer hold yeast at safe levels.

Many people on this forum have GOT to be on a candida diet or we get FAR worse and I mean some get close to suciide. I am not talking about using antifungals, I am talking about diet which enables a safe slow reduction of excessive overgrowth without the release of massive amount of possible contained metals in the process.

I did not slap you to the ground with my response or insult your doctor and I am sorry you took it that way. I am talking about this seriously because there are many on this forum following a diet which is probably keeping them alive (or at least functioning). I also do not appreciate your comments re Jinx who has been very ill for a very long time irrespective of diet. Did I tell Jinx to go on antifungals? Let me know if I did. I seem to recall people were trying to get him to eat healthy, which means elminate junkfoods/sugar. I hardly see that as being bad council....Hal Huggins suggests this himself. The elimination of sugar, milk, caffeine etc if I recall correctly.

How can a person go wrong with a candida diet? To continue on eating sugar, is not just feeding a yeast problem, but it is also directing harming the person as well (even if they do not have candida). It's simply natural good foods and if a side effect of eating healthy means the body gets more control over a yeast problem, how can that be bad? The body obviously knows best and gets the chance when it's fed properly.

For many people on here it has saved their life and continues to do so. My doctor who had me on a candida diet years ago when I was mercury toxic (with amalgams) saved my life because of this. It made a LOT of difference to me. Antifungals did not seem the greatest because it exposed me to too many toxins at once, so I had to stop. Diet was the life saver.

Jinx' problem are not due to the diet, he was suffering before that and contiues to suffer either way. I dare say antifungal use has not helped matters, but when a person gets this desperate nobody knows what to offer him anymore. He's tried chelation, does not work. He's tried doing nothing, doesn't work. He's gone off the diet...doesn't work and if I recall made things even worse. He's tried antifungals, didn't work and possibly made things worse again. No matter what someone offers, Jinx seems to get worse. I think using Jinx as an example in an attempt to make the candida treatment look bad is misleading, when you consider how many others on here rely totally on the diet to help them and have mentioned this often on this forum.

Huggins is the only health professional I have heard of that says candida demethylates mercury. Everything else I have read says that it methylates it. But to my mind the proof is in the pudding and the effects of candida overgrowth adding to the mercury load has been evident enough in my own life and those on this forum.

Candida can cause many of the same symptoms as mercury and reducing it to a more tolerable level by diet, at least enables a person to see what is doing what. Sometimes the improvements have been dramatic in a mercury toxic patient.
