Hi Sandi, likewise. I think I had a load of candida with stored mercury and a very low immunity. Diet worked very well in the beginning for me. I mean it was not pleasant at first to work through the yeast dying off, but I felt so much better after it was over.

I took antifungals, when I could have easily remained as I was with diet. That was working ok for me and there was no need for me to kill anymore yeast off, at least as far as my body was concerned, it seemed happy enough on diet alone.

I took ONE dose of a strong herbal antifungal and I could not believe the reaction. 2 hours later I felt poisoned up the brim. It was unlike the normal prevoius die off from diet, this was different. I did not know what to do, so I took more of it because the release of toxins had weakened me further and a vicious cycle had allowed the yeast to proliferate due to me being more toxic. So to counteract that? I took more antifungal, as I did not know which way to go. Better would have been to not continue and allowed my body to process the toxins over time or chelate them out.

So I did even more damage by releasing more metals from more yeast. But in order to keep this somehow "tolerable" I reached a point where i had to keep taking the antifungal regardless.

So it was a real bad situation. Finally I had to stop them after i was told to by a dentist who dealt also in health and of course, once I stopped, this then allowed the tremendous build up of toxic release to start spilling back into my system and forced my body to deal with it. I had night sweats so bad I soaked my sheets and pajamas (even on a coolish night). I had tremors, metal taste, flushing/chills, muscle spasms etc. Some put this down to just yeast die off....I did not. I knew there was mercury involved.

Sure enough, when I used DMSA I found I was able to chelate this back out. But I beleive there was damage done to me regardless. However, I was not to know and now antifungals do not do this to me because the yeast ocntaining mercury has already been killed off and no more mercury is released from die off anymore it seems. Either that, or the yeast got used to the antifungals and built some resistance to them. I dont know for sure.

But yes, certainly if anybody is going to use antifungals, make sure you've been on the very strict diet first for months and only then start on a small amount in case and build up slowly from there based on symptoms. It is also best to use just one antifungal, rather than buying one that has many in one capsule (which is what I did). It was effective, but for a mercury toxic person...not overly wise.

But again, in all honesty even that horrible reaction from metal release was preferable to the candida overgrowth itself. So that is saying something.
