If it wasn't enough that I'm going through severe brain shutdown, my candida has worsened depsite keeping to a VERY strick diet. I just can't take it anymore, does anyone have any suggestion? Just don't know what to do anymore, thinking of antifungals but took 10 drops of GSE two days ago and had a severe reaction, this is all so fu**ed up, I hate this life. thanx for any advice in advance, guys.

If the GSE is too strong, my Candida symptoms have lessened considerable since taking Oregano oil. It even lessened my off round exhaustion. Can only take one or two twice a day, as die off symptoms are too much to take when taking more. Haven't tried the GSE yet, though. I probably will in the future.

If it's any consolation Jinx, I have too, and I am trying to work out why. I have followed a strict diet for 2 years now - nothing has changed - and this candida worsening has come after I have had my new fillings put iin It may be coincidence - I am hoping it is. I had the filling material tested with a Voll machine, and it came out OK, but I didn't have the fillers etc tested.

I have also increased the rate and dose of my chelation rounds, and DMSA is known for flaring yeast, so it could be that.

It is very disheartening though - I was hoping for a relaxing of the diet as the mercury goes down, rather than having to be even stricter. I am now just eating meat, non-starchy vegetables and eggs, with butter, olive oil and coconut oil. Have cut out nuts now, no dairy, wheat, gluten etc etc - all the nos. I take probiotics, but not antifungals, as I find these make things much worse.

I have no answers for you - just commiseration. Makes you want to go and eat chocolate, doesn't it?

Best
Nicola

If you are hyper sensitive then work on your organs of elimination for 6 months - liver, gall bladder(artichoke tincture and milk thistle or homeopathic liver/gb sarcodes) and maybe kidneys month 3 to 6 - horsetail and nettle tincture

no vitamins or minerals
- sea salt / water ok
Could take schussler salts 12 combo

Found a wicked new drink all natural - http://www.myvega.com/products/smoothie.asp

^ to anon, would brewing tea with those herbs be okay too? or should i get the tincture for the elimination organs?

hey, jinx i hear you. life does suck and from the year in your username i'd assume you're still very young. so am i. i know sympathy in a jar won't do much for you so maybe i'm just writing this to help myself because venting helps and if what i wrote is upsetting in anyway, i apologize and will immediately take it off.

i can't stand watching people my age do what they want and be able to go to school, while i'm just rotting away and wasting money on possible "cures" and other junk. makes me feel suicidal as well and i don't know why i get myself through the day because i can't regularly function either and i'm on the brink of insanity. i freak out a lot and when i do, i look very much like i belong in a psychiatric ward and i'm scared. i'm scared i'll never get better and bankrupt my family.

i saw on a forum that drinking several cups (4?) of kefir a day helped several people with their candida battle. but then again i don't know if they are mercury toxic or not. i also heard that too many dying yeasts would just release the mercury they stored and super poison you. i really don't know, but i just got my kefir grains today (but i have to wait a few days before it's drinkable) and i'll try it out for a month or so and report back soon.

If it is candida, which I think it sounds like it is to me... you are going to have to bite the bullet, do a cleanse, stay on it for a few weeks and be well aware of the fact that you will feel like crap for the first week to ten days of that cleanse.

After which you should start feeling pretty good. But there is absolutely no way to get to the end of the tunnel and see the light without going through the dark tunnel that that cleanse makes you feel like you are in. You cannot just do something for one day or two days, feel terrible and keep stopping. You have to continue on through it all the way to the end to be successful with it.

You might want to check and see that your refrigerator is clean. Mold and fungus can really take an upper hand in a dirty fridge and contaminate anything you put in there. H2O2 (hydrogen peroxide) is great for killing mold and fungus in the fridge. If you don't have any, use a 10% solution of clorox bleach or the equivalent in some soapy water. If you use H2O2 use it in soapy water also. Wear gloves.

Oregano is great, so is parsley, the fresher the better. Use it fresh in salads. I like the herbal over the counter candida cleanse products best, available at most health food or whole food stores.

Where I live, It's like a rainforest sometimes, tons of rain during this time of year especially. It's coming down in buckets like a cow peeing on a flat rock right now. When we first moved here I started feeling yucky after several months, wound up in bed for a good few days to a week with swollen eyelids, laryngitus.... I took a look around around the house, in corners, on walls... I noticed mold, some black, some whitish, but mold, lots of it I had to look closely to see it... little black dots etc... I washed this place down hard... clorox and soapy water, the floors, the baseboards, doors, every single room... the walls even.

I felt much better afterwards and haven't experienced a mold reaction in 3 years now. I do little parts of the house now and then on a regular basis, bathrooms especially.

I also put dust mite covers on our beds, mattresses and pillows, couch even. every little bit helps.

hey guys, I was actually wondering about the candida-mercury connection, cause there are very confusing and contradicting ideas nooone seems to have the one right answer.

So there are those who says there is 1) candida overgrowth because candida latches onto mercury and it is released its once killed 2) candida overgrowth is a result of mercury compromised immune system that allows candida to flourish, but it doesn't hold on to mercury and once you kill candida you get die off from all the dying microbes and their toxins (but not really metals). I think that's Cutler's point of view. 3)candida methylates mercury

So these are the opinions and I find esp point 1) & 3) contradicting? It's really weird that canddida would grab onto mercury as a "preotective" measure in out bodies and at the same time methylate it. It's odd, it's either one or the other. So you really don't know what to do with this candida thing, whether to first go after candida or mercury, another great piss off in the fight with this disease.

and thanx everybody for your replies.

and one more thing guys, since noticing this candida overgrowth I get these 'pushing' sensations onto my back-base of my brain (cerebellum?) any idea what that is?

i get that, accupunturist for me said it was 'bladder meridian' others said it was 'seat of the will (following through on things, decision making)' (two points left and right back of the head, when this gets messed up u get a lot of mind visual trouble internally which i have, bad news for people who think visually predominantly (mediums believe this is the area entities attatch and they use themselves to read that spirit world, as in its a 'viewing point, like the third eye is is one from the front.) for me it just damn hurts and i use valium and painkillers to stop it. i spoke specifically to one guy about it who said it went away after time, also two points left and right lower more in neck region at back seem to get affected

"life== noone gets out alive". maybe its a good thing, god does have mercy.. generally 'He" won't put u through this for longer than up to 100 years.

GSE gives wicked die off, I prefer oil of oregano, olive leaf extract, garlic, pau d'arco tea and other natural antifungals..but go slow, otherwise too much mercury is released from the dying yeast too fast.

Hope you feel better soon Jinx.

Jinx,

Dr Huggins says candida is there to save your life. Bacteria methalates mercury (which is 100 times more leathal than the mercury from amalgums) then candida grabs onto the methlymercury and converts it back.

I went on a strict candida diet 5 months ago and ended up in the ER by the 7th day. I had killed so much candida that the mercury went straight to my brain and really caused horrible side affects. By the 10th day on the diet is when I found Dr Huggins web site, via this web site, and read the FAQ and number 23 talked about candida. You can see the site by typing in hugnet.com. I had all of my amalgums out last April and have slowly gotten a little better. My brain function is so much better, I can read and write again but driving a car is still out of my ability. My body still feels sick.

So be carefull about killing off too much candida.

Patty

Hi Patty, this is one area that I think just about EVERY other health professional would disagree with Huggins. Candida alone, even without the added toxicity of mercury can cause horrific suffering, symptoms and even suicides. Far from saving a person's life, it has been the opposite.

Yeast overgrowth is a result of a body that is unable to keep the yeast under control any longer, so now the body is battling more than one problem and the toxicity of this and whatever else is going on can be the straw that breaks the camel's back. It overloads the gut and liver with yeast toxins, affects the brain, weakens the immune system and allows the body to become even more suspetible to mercury and other toxcity in the process, as well as adding to it.

Every other article I have read talks about yeast and bacteria methylating mercury, not yeast saving the day! The reason killing yeast can be dangerous in someone with mercury is because yeast has the ability to absorb mercury. Like any cell in the body, yeast cells too can become loaded with heavy metals. People like to think of this as "protection", this is not so. The mercury continually gives off its poisonous effects and is excreted by the yeast as methyl mercury. This is how the yeast survive!

This is why using antifungals to kill off candida can be risky because they act on yeast cells directly and split them open. This means if the yeast happen to contain a storage of metals, that metal is then re-released back into the system and can cause acute symptoms of metal toxicity.

But leaving the yeast overgrowth as it is is also NOT the answer or a good option. The safest way is by eating a healthy diet and simply excluding junkfoods/toxic foods sugars etc. This can be nothing BUT good because it at least allows the body to heal and reduce the yeast as well as aid detoxification healing and building the immunity. The yeast reduce naturally with this, when they are unable to feed on sugar in the diet and too many high carbs.

So in a toxic person, this can at least allow the body to gain maybe "some" further control over yeast and help the immunity in the process and lessen the load on the gut/liver and brain.

I have done the candida diet and I have used antifungals. The diet alone gave me yeast die off, made me sick temporarily becuase of dying yeast and their toxins and then I improved after 3 weeks. This actually saved my life I believe.

Using antifungals? I got symptoms of acute metal toxicity and was EXTREMELY ill and had to take chelation to get the newly released metals back out. I improved again once I did this. As acutely sick as I got from a release of metals from the yeast, which could have put me in the ER also. I have to admit to you here that the suffering from this was not even as bad as the suffering from the ongoing overgrowth which was causing me symptoms that were excrutiating. Not enough to ever put me in the ER, but enough to cause suicide easily.

But saying that candida is healthy is incorrect. There are enough people mercury toxic on this forum that can contradict that. Many of us are pushed over the edge when we try and resume a diet with sugar. For example, one lady I know who was and still is mercury toxic is on a candida diet. She can now work and live her life pretty well and is healing gradually. Everytime she goes off this diet, she is plunged back into a nightmare and been close to ending her life. Once back on the diet she gets back on track and feels better.

This is the same with others. The diet alone can be a life saver. I am very sorry about what happened to yu and do understand the dangers of killing yeast aggressively or in a way that is too quick to start off. In fact one article mentioned that antifungal use (at least initially) can be foolish or downright dangerous in a mercury toxic patient due to yeast being able to hold its own weight in mercury. This is why the diet is safe because it simply starves the yeast slowly to death instead.

I wish Huggins would realise what he is saying in these statements. It is misleading and gives the person the idea that if they keep feeding yeast in their body, they are actually "protecting" themselves, when this could not be more wrong. A certain amount of overgrowht will always be present in a mercury toxic person whatever the diet, but consuming sugar and allowing that to easily get out of control in a person who cannot fight it, is one of the worst things a person can do in my opinion.

<img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/blush.gif" alt="" /> Thank you guys! (girls I mean) and the same back to you! I hope that post of mine earlier didn't come across smart, but I cannot understand why Huggins is making these statements??? Do you think someone should type to him about it and let him know what candida is doing to some of us?

The thing I have heard is that aggressive antifungal use can be risky in a high yeast/mercury situation (for the obvoius reasons).

My dentist here who has studied extensively in both dentistry and health for many years has found that he has got to treat most mercury patient for yeast because they are so toxic. He knows about the risks of antifungal use and gets them on a strict diet and gives a herbal antifungal which is not "too drastic". He says it's a catch 22 situation and sometimes there will be metal release from dying yeast, but unfortunately leaving a person with high yeast is not an option. He cannot treat them if their gut and liver is overloaded and cannot detox the mercury properly. This is what happened to me also. Once I got on the diet, my body began to start trying to eliminate other problems more readily.

Again, I think huggins is right re aggressive antifungal use because of how dangerous that can be, but overgrowth of yeast being helpful? He ought to try it himself sometime and see what opinion he may have then.

Yes I agree wholeheartedly Bex.... using antifungals aggressively can be very dangerous, I am sure that really affected me in the beginning when I did my first yeast cleansing. I had no idea that I was releasing heavy metals then, not a clue that was what caused the yeast in the first place. I didn't discover that until after 2 years of killing yeast. I am sure all that freed up mercury that did a lot of damage to my immune system and adrenals.

Hi Sandi, likewise. I think I had a load of candida with stored mercury and a very low immunity. Diet worked very well in the beginning for me. I mean it was not pleasant at first to work through the yeast dying off, but I felt so much better after it was over.

I took antifungals, when I could have easily remained as I was with diet. That was working ok for me and there was no need for me to kill anymore yeast off, at least as far as my body was concerned, it seemed happy enough on diet alone.

I took ONE dose of a strong herbal antifungal and I could not believe the reaction. 2 hours later I felt poisoned up the brim. It was unlike the normal prevoius die off from diet, this was different. I did not know what to do, so I took more of it because the release of toxins had weakened me further and a vicious cycle had allowed the yeast to proliferate due to me being more toxic. So to counteract that? I took more antifungal, as I did not know which way to go. Better would have been to not continue and allowed my body to process the toxins over time or chelate them out.

So I did even more damage by releasing more metals from more yeast. But in order to keep this somehow "tolerable" I reached a point where i had to keep taking the antifungal regardless.

So it was a real bad situation. Finally I had to stop them after i was told to by a dentist who dealt also in health and of course, once I stopped, this then allowed the tremendous build up of toxic release to start spilling back into my system and forced my body to deal with it. I had night sweats so bad I soaked my sheets and pajamas (even on a coolish night). I had tremors, metal taste, flushing/chills, muscle spasms etc. Some put this down to just yeast die off....I did not. I knew there was mercury involved.

Sure enough, when I used DMSA I found I was able to chelate this back out. But I beleive there was damage done to me regardless. However, I was not to know and now antifungals do not do this to me because the yeast ocntaining mercury has already been killed off and no more mercury is released from die off anymore it seems. Either that, or the yeast got used to the antifungals and built some resistance to them. I dont know for sure.

But yes, certainly if anybody is going to use antifungals, make sure you've been on the very strict diet first for months and only then start on a small amount in case and build up slowly from there based on symptoms. It is also best to use just one antifungal, rather than buying one that has many in one capsule (which is what I did). It was effective, but for a mercury toxic person...not overly wise.

But again, in all honesty even that horrible reaction from metal release was preferable to the candida overgrowth itself. So that is saying something.

Hi Nicola,

The day I went to the ER I felt like I was dying. Extreme weakness, in a wheel chair, could not think or find words or speak above a whisper. I could not eat or open my eyes to talk (photosensitive). My heart was pounding and I was suffering. Smells and sounds were overwhelming.( I had to wear earplugs). The previous week I had been in Hawaii and a massage therapist said I may have candida overgrowth. I had been bothered by yeast infections for 30 years, which usually came out as a vaginal infection and sores in my mouth. I was willing to do anything to get better so I followed her candida diet of the usual eliminations, drank Pau de Arco tea, comsumed some fresh garlic and two garlic capsules within that 7 days.

That morning God led me to the realization of the connection between candida and mercury. A year prior to this I had a hair analysis done that showed mercury off the chart at 2.8 ppm but my primary doctor said it was hogwash so I did not investigate further. My primary said I had fibromyalgia/chronic fatigue. My husband was so concerned at how sick I was that he wanted to take me to the ER and have blood work done and I wanted my blood pulled for mercury because I knew that is was the mercury that made me so sick. (I now know that blood does not really give an accurate picture of mercury toxicitity) I asked the doctor to please "think outside of the box". He said he could could only "think inside the box" and no he could not pull my blood for mercury. He said I was having a "fibromyalgia exacerbation episode" gave me a IV shot of Ativan, a tranqualizer, and a scrip for tranquilizers and sent me home :-) My bloodwork came back within normal range except for sodium and chroride. Sodium was 125 (range 136-145), which is extremely low and I now know it was an adrenal gland problem and maybe over hydration.

How are you doing on the chelation you mentioned above?
dose and rate? I think you are right about the connection between DMSA and increase in candida symptoms. What are your symptoms of candida?

Patty

Hi Bex,

To be honest with you, Bex, when I read your response to my post I felt like you slapped me to the ground and then stomped on me and insulted my doctor. Perhaps I am too sensitive to be posting on this forum.

Perhaps I should have said "if you have amalgum fillings you may not want to aggressivly kill the candida overgrowth. The candida is saving your life right now". I feel really really sorry for Jinx. He is really suffering. To tell him to keep killing the candida may not be wise councel. From what I understand and what I just heard from Dr Huggins this week in a telephone consult is "candida DEMETHYLATES mercury".
I will respectfully agree to disagree with you, Bex.

Patty

Yes Bex, I also had the night sweats, I used to have to change my pj's once a night, and the pain in my extremities and the insomnia, unbelievable...and my dr said the only people that get candida are those with cancer and HIV. Well I finally got the cancer...so I believe that it is a warning sign.

I felt really good on the diet and even better after getting my amalgams out, still couldn't eat bread or dairy though. I also felt very good doing the DMSA but couldn't continue cause of my constipation issues.

I guess the mercury had already done it's damage and my immune system couldn't fight the cancer off anymore. I think the mercury destroyed my digestion, which caused constipation and leaky gut which contributed to the disease in the abdomen. I wouldn't doubt that is why "below the belt" cancers are so much more prevalent these days.

I think if we didn't have mercury in our bodies cancer would be almost nonexistant. You don't hear of children getting colon cancer, they are getting brain cancer and leukemia and lymphomas cause they are getting huge amounts of metals injected into their little bodies at such a tender age, and combined with the burden they get from their moms, it is a sad state of affairs. When is it ever going to end?

Sorry to be on such a downer, but if the powers that be don't start to take some action, this world is doomed.

Patty, telling people that "candida is our friend" is pretty misleading and I think that could be dangerous considering what it's done to many of us. Just as killing candida aggressively with antifungal use can be also. To give someone the impression that candida is our friend could lead people down a very bad road. If had followed this advice at face value, I cannot imagine what would have happened because I know where it was leading me. If Huggins meant it in the respect that the body harbours a certain amount of yeast in a metal toxic environment, he should be clearer on that instead of calling "candida" our friend. Candida is fine when it's at a level the body can handle, it is far from fine when it goes beyond this into a virulent fungal state and this is easily achieved when a person continues with a diet including the stuff that it feeds off, with an immune system already challenged by mercury or other problems. Aids patients are another example of this and what can occur because their body can no longer hold yeast at safe levels.
.
Many people on this forum have GOT to be on a candida diet or we get FAR worse and I mean some get close to suciide. I am not talking about using antifungals, I am talking about diet which enables a safe slow reduction of excessive overgrowth without the release of massive amount of possible contained metals in the process.

I did not slap you to the ground with my response or insult your doctor and I am sorry you took it that way. I am talking about this seriously because there are many on this forum following a diet which is probably keeping them alive (or at least functioning). I also do not appreciate your comments re Jinx who has been very ill for a very long time irrespective of diet. Did I tell Jinx to go on antifungals? Let me know if I did. I seem to recall people were trying to get him to eat healthy, which means elminate junkfoods/sugar. I hardly see that as being bad council....Hal Huggins suggests this himself. The elimination of sugar, milk, caffeine etc if I recall correctly.

How can a person go wrong with a candida diet? To continue on eating sugar, is not just feeding a yeast problem, but it is also directing harming the person as well (even if they do not have candida). It's simply natural good foods and if a side effect of eating healthy means the body gets more control over a yeast problem, how can that be bad? The body obviously knows best and gets the chance when it's fed properly.

For many people on here it has saved their life and continues to do so. My doctor who had me on a candida diet years ago when I was mercury toxic (with amalgams) saved my life because of this. It made a LOT of difference to me. Antifungals did not seem the greatest because it exposed me to too many toxins at once, so I had to stop. Diet was the life saver.

Jinx' problem are not due to the diet, he was suffering before that and contiues to suffer either way. I dare say antifungal use has not helped matters, but when a person gets this desperate nobody knows what to offer him anymore. He's tried chelation, does not work. He's tried doing nothing, doesn't work. He's gone off the diet...doesn't work and if I recall made things even worse. He's tried antifungals, didn't work and possibly made things worse again. No matter what someone offers, Jinx seems to get worse. I think using Jinx as an example in an attempt to make the candida treatment look bad is misleading, when you consider how many others on here rely totally on the diet to help them and have mentioned this often on this forum.

Huggins is the only health professional I have heard of that says candida demethylates mercury. Everything else I have read says that it methylates it. But to my mind the proof is in the pudding and the effects of candida overgrowth adding to the mercury load has been evident enough in my own life and those on this forum.

Candida can cause many of the same symptoms as mercury and reducing it to a more tolerable level by diet, at least enables a person to see what is doing what. Sometimes the improvements have been dramatic in a mercury toxic patient.

Jinx, I think you should try grapefruit seed extract again, but this time start out slowly. Try two drops in 8 ounces of water twice a day. if you are okay with that for 2 days, then try 2 drops in 8 ounces of water 3 times a day. if you are okay with that for a week, then try 3 drops in 8 ounces of water 3 times a day. I am now taking 7 drops in 8 ounces of water 8-12 times a day. I built up to that gradually.
