I have been on the Candida diet for one day and am already going insane! There are too many contradictions.
My ND says I can't have Whey Protein because of dairy in it or something, but I have also heard elsewhere that it is good to take?
Also, he says tea and coffee are ok, but I have heard elsewhere I should be having zero caffeine intake?
Another grey area is nuts and seeds (my ND says anything is ok bar peanuts and pistachios).
He also reccommends drinking a pint of carrot juice a day but again elsewhere I have read carrots should be eliminated from diet?
Also, can I have natural yoghurt?
I am following Hesham's protocol too so can only eat Chicken that is grain fed and other meats that are grass fed. How do I find this out, would a butcher know?
Sorry to ask so many questions but my head is going round in circles!

I have also just read I should avoid all soy products on Bee Wilder's website, but my ND has said I can have Soya Milk.

Hi Mark, welcome to the club. This is how it always is with candida diet recommendations. The contradictions and confusions are many.
So I know what you mean, you feel like you're going to tear your hair out. Sometimes you just have to avoid all the things that are "suspect" and go from there. Basically all candida diets agree on one thing "no sugar", but from there? It's a MASS of contradictions.
If you are not sure about something and one person says NO WAY, another says "it's ok", I'd avoid it temporarily at least. Carrot juice might be ok, but for some it is still a problem and they need to watch out for concentrated juices like that.
I would avoid caffeine. what is the point in taking coffee or tea? It's not exactly healthful anyway. So that's not a major issue. Many people find they do better eliminating them for health sake.
Nuts are negliable, as is natural yoghurt and soya milk. They will be down to your personal reactions. You can avoid them or limit them if you feel they are questionable. Like nuts and seeds. Limit or avoid what you're not too certain of.
The things you can eat? Focus on them mostly. Like with whey powder, some do really well on this stuff because it raises glutathione levels, some may not. It is again down to the individual. You can always "try" it at some point if you feel like it.
But sometimes it's wise to be very strict in the early stages and then go from there by adding a few things back in and seeing how you respond.

y/w Mark. I'm going through this as well. I mean the strictest diet with this at times is borderlining ridiculous. I cannot STAND it for the most part and I venture onto eating organic plain sugar free yoghurt. I actually tried eating brown rice the other evening and WHAM, I was hit by yeast symptoms that evening with a LOT of itching and I wont' go into gory details of where.
So hmmm, seems that rice it out for me. Yet at one stage? I could eat it fine, so long as i kept off sugar. I guess I've gotten worse or the yeast has come back stronger.
Usually high carbs like rice, pasta, wheat, etc are advised against because they can still feed yeast. I personally wouldn't eat them yet until you're stronger.
Yoghurt can even be an issue for some, but I think it's a bit safer. Sometimes I do try stuff though, but often I find out the hard way that no I cannot eat it.
I cheated badly yesterday and of course am now paying the penalty. Though I dont feel ok regardless, it seems the increased symptoms from cheating are just not worth the temporary pleasure from consuming the "taboo" foods. I'm talking chocolates, pizza, the lot. I just lost it.

Dear Mark G, The problem is that some things you can eat with candidiasis you can not eat with mercury. Brown rice sits in my intestines without digesting makes life unpleasant however it is recommend for not having gluten in it for yeast. Most of the yogurt in the stores are not great to eat any more. They have gelatin (gelatin had not nutritional value is simply is cheap)added to them instead of pectin. Many when tested did not have live cultures of any amount. If you do eat these look for one with pectin in them they are of better quality. Most cows are fed wheat grass therefore when someone says eat only grass fed you have to ask what kind of grass. Have raised cows for market for 26 years. If they mean organic then you have to realize that means only that chemicals are not directly sprayed on the grass the animal is fed on. In a true sense nothing is organic in this world, everything travels by the wind to all parts of the world. Corn fed beef if very expensive and sought after therefore marked as such. Make sure your diet is fruit-free, sugar-free, and yeast free. Candida thrives in a sugary environment, so your diet must be low in carbohydrates, and contain no yeast products or sugar. Look for hidden sugar or vinegar. Vinegar is fermented so contains yeast. Means check out your ketchup, mustard, soy sauce, salad dressing and the list goes on. Aged cheese, alcohol, baked goods, chocolate, fermented foods, all grains containing gluten wheat, oats, rye, barley. No ham, honey, nut butter, pickles, potatoes, raw mushrooms. At this point you more than likely feel like me. just tell me what I can eat. LOL If you have been on antibiotics you may have a deficiency in Vitamin K which is needed to manufacture the good bacteria in the intestines. Try eating leafy green vegetables, alfalfa, strawberries and quality yogurt to restore the vitamin K balance. Mercury also inhibits the growth of good bacteria in the stomach. So you will need a daily source of good bacteria. You might try olive leaf and or oil of oregano (real stuff smells really strong) Olive leaf start with 450 a day for 3 days then slowly add until you are at 2,000 mg a day then continue this for 7 more days then go back to 450 for a few days if it looks good then you can stop. You will need to add beneficial bacteria as well doing this and after so that the bad can not get a foot hold again. At the same time for die off you will need to take one of the following, activated charcoal, bentonite (clay) or algin. These will remove the yeast die off from the body. My favorite is activated charcoal its cheap used in hospitals for poison control because it bsorbers everything so take it 2 hours before and or after a meal or meds, or supplements. Using olive leaf worked wonders for me lifted the bran fog. That alone made it wort a lot. Purtitan's Pride is having a 70% off sale until 09/11/2007 Olive Leaf Extract150 mg * (Olea europaea) (standardized to contain 20% Oleuropein, 30 mg) This was great as took them in divided dosage throughout the day. http://www.puritansale.com/pages/fi...p;PID=636&CID=&CPID=1084Avoid household chemicals products and cleansers, chlorinated water, mothballs and basements. mark,if you have a sweet tooth you can use zylitol, a sweetener from health food stores and you can have vinegar but apple cider vinegar, you can buy this from supermarkets. brown rice flour is okay for me, i only use a bit and add ground nuts and flax seeds to mix in the flour for certain recipes. if you would like some recipes heres a good site, go to the forum. www.wholeapproach.com

Sugar is really bad for everyone, even minus a candida problem, I like xylitol a lot too. I am addicted to my oatmeal coconut oil chocolate chip cookies though. And i love a beer now and then maybe two so I get sugar from those two sources, but not much all said really, a few beers a week, some chocollate chips in the cookies.
Eat lots of fresh vegetables, salads. You can use a tad of lemon juice instead of vinegar in salads. Lemon juice may even help your body eliminate some heavy metals released during the cleanse process. We buy amish raised chicken athe grocery store, no chems or antibiotics.
Make sure you rinse and kosher (salt heavy for 20 minutes then rinse) any meats you buy, they spray them with viruses these days, supposedly keeps bacteria away but may not really be all that good to eat... probably dies when you cook it but I still like to kosher my meat, makes me feel better if only psychologically. I wouldn't eat organ meats, liver etc, can have lots of heavy metals etc because the cow's liver does the same thing yours does. Also, chicken fed with pesticide treated corn, and corn fed cows too... an ingredient in the pesticide is arsenic so yes, probably wise to stay away.
Most grocery stores these day do offer options for non-chem/non antibiotic fed meats. Costs maybe a dollar or two more but considering the fact you'll save lots more than that in doctor bills downline I'd say it's worth it.
