I’m getting 3 amalgams out tomorrow, with the correct protocol. Any supplements I should, or should not take?
I am currently taking Vit c, Multi Vit B, large does B12, chromium
Some talk of charcoal tablets? Whats that all about then? Should I take that to soak toxins up

activated charcoal is supposed to help mop up any released mercury. I would avoid the Vitamin C because it could impair the ability of the freezing agent. Also when I had my amalgams removed the freezing agent my dentist used was called septocane. Apparently it has less carcinogens compared to lidocane. Are you using a mercury-free dentist? Good luck

Hi Al
Thanks, i will avoid the Vitc C for .....how many days?
Yes, mercury free dentist in Carnaby street London. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif" alt="" />
Dentist said take 3 charcoal tablets prior to appointment, but i have read somewhere i can take some the night before? correct? and if so...how many?
Dentist also said take selenium but i don't know about this stuff and i'm taking lots of other probiotics + anti-bacterial’s and i don't want to take new stuff. Doing lots of new things at the same time does not work for me as i have so many intolerances, it becomes impossible to see the wood for all the trees.

Vitamin c should be avoided for 24 hours before dental work as it may make novocaine and other local anesthetics less effective. Start taking vitamin c again right after the dental work. After I had several amalgams removed I developed nasty candida infections in my mouth. If I could do it over, I would have started taking grapefruit seed extract a few weeks before the dental work, and kept taking it weeks after the dental work.

HI SS,
There is a product that some take on here called Algin that has helped many cope because it has a way of mopping up mercury that it comes into contact with. This maybe particularly helpful to you at this time. IT does not actively chelate mercury, but acts like a sponge if it comes across it.
selenium is very good because it helps protect against mercury toxicity and often it's badly depleted due to mercury competing with it. Selenium also helps raise glutathione levels, which is what we need for detoxing. Some have problems with selenium becuase it seems it can encourage some mercury elimination. The best tolerated form is selenomethionine. Start at a dose that suits you (if you are going to take it).
And I second the vitamin C comments. Bad move before amalgam work. I made the mistake and they could not numb me properly. In fact, I found a similar problem with most antioxidants, so I ceased taking anything for about a day or more before removal. Just started taking them instead right after the work was over.
But I understand not wanting to try too many new things, if you find a balance, probably better to stick with that. Too easy to feel and get worse with this illness, hard enough to get to a point where you have some control over symptoms.
I dont think people get email notifications re posts on this forum. You just have to get on here yourself from time to time check and refresh the page in case there have been new posts added.
Cheers.

Re Anonymous: I’m new here and I don’t know the etiquette yet, but what’s with all this Anonymous thing? Can’t people make up a name? or even just a number? It feels very strange replying to anon’s because there are so many anon’s. Funny that? I guess I will get used to it. What about “Iwanttogetmineout”?
Do I “have any symptoms at the moment that you think may be caused by mercury poisoning” ? ummmm well I have not listed out my troubles before, but I suppose just before I get my amalgams out, for the record, so that I can remember how screwed up I was, & just before I miraculously heal myself and become a healthy Jedi again….. I may as well give it a bash: (in no particular order) -low body temp -always feel cold -do not sweat -chronic fatigue -bleeding gums -sore throat very often -loss of appetite -massive weight loss (30kg) -multiple chemical sensitivities -multiple food intolerances (wheat/dairy/soya/sugar/nightshades/tobacco/any processed food including white rice) no fruit either, nor booze, nor drugs. -tingly arms+legs -tired muscles -had depression, but not anymore. Hooray! -irritable -mood swings -constipation -do not digest my food -massive heartburn for 10 years, but under control now, unless I eat Muggle food. -my kidney’s are clogged up with gunk -my liver is full of gallstones -my intestines are full to the brim with the wrong bacteria. -multiple mineral and vitamin deficiencies. -and last and by no means least….a real dodgy/weak lower/middle/upper back. And neck. The pain likes to migrate around, but mostly lower back pain.
Phew! i really am FUBAR!
That took 10 mins to remember so prolly some more to put, but that’s quite enough for now.
The list of the methods I have used to get better would be 5 times as long as the above list.
Algin.....more info please. i have heard of this....any good links?
Thanks for all the advice, see u on the other side.

Sunshine, those symptoms sound like candida symptoms. Mercury toxicity can cause an overgrowth of candida, however you might have a candida problem without having mercury poisoning.
You should eliminate sugar and alcohol from your diet and go on a low carb diet. You should also take an antifungal agent(grapefruit seed extract or some other one). Start out slowly with a very small dosage the antifungal It with probably make you feel worse as the yeast are being destroyed.

The symptoms sound like Candida but I have had people examine my poo, blood tested, urine tested, breath tested, muscle tested, pushed and pull left right and center. I in fact have “small intestine bacterial overgrowth” (SIBO) which, in relation to candida, I guess is like the difference between Coke and Dr.Pepper. they are both soft drinks, both fizzy, both rot your teeth, both poison you, but never-the-less they are still different things. If u google “small intestine bacterial overgrowth” you will find plenty of info on it. To tackle SIBO I have been on these extreme diets, which are working better than anything else, for 6 weeks now. I have just started probiotic’s and also grapefruit seed extract. Yes, I now know these things need to be started in small doses(to my cost!) Progress is slow, with lots of 1 step forward & 2 steps back. I am currently in 2 steps back mode.
i have not had any sugar in any form for over 7 months. And I really mean none whatsoever. I did have 1 glass of red wine about 5 months ago, but I have been basically herb-tea total for about 2 years. My diet is a clean as a whistle; I just need to find the right one for me as I am still a “universal reactor”. My health is royally screwed up and I have zero problem in giving up any food that seems to be causing a problem. I am well and truly past the “oh bugger, I’ll just have this one donut” stage. Every time I do (or did) I’d then have 10 days of symptoms to weather. Recovery time is now down to approx 5 days.

Are you taking B vitamins, magnesium, and getting enough iodine in your diet? Does your diet contain enough iron and copper? Candida can cause malabsorbtion of minerals, so even if you are taking in enough of these you might not be absorbing enough. Are you eating unsweatened yogurt or taking acidophilus supplements? Some who are intolerant of milk or cheese may still toletate yogurt as it typically has much less lactose than other milk products. There are also some yogurt type products that don't cantain milk products.

yes vit b/iron iodine – I have tried some kelp, but too much going on to retry that now mal-absorbent 100pct yes – that’s a major part of the problem. I’m in a vicious circle that is proving tough to break cannot handle yogurt and not willing to retry it at the moment Acidophilus – yes - is in the probiotic Magnesium – it clogs me up big time, so I have as many Epsom salt baths as possible. Currently 2-4 per week as per Askmoreless protocol.
I am very reluctant to re-try food that I know screws me up. One small mouthful causes so much pain and troubles for 5-10 days…
its all good and well saying try this try that, but there is no point trying more than one new thing at the same time, because I cannot tell whats doing what. 2 new things per week is probably the maxium. this week was grapefruit seed extract and amalgam removal....
I did a Rotation diet 4 weeks ago and that worked, I put on 1kg. was very difficult but it worked for about 10 day before something went wrong, so I will probably retry that sometime soon if the current “exclude sulfur diet” doesn’t work.
Removing the 3 amalgams yesterday has caused some more bloody $hit. God I need to get home and lie down in a dark bloody room. Ouchhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh I am spaced out of my mind and rollercoastering.

Its really hard to give you any tips, and you should not be asking for tips, because everyones body is different and everyone's response to a variety of treatments is usually diferent. We are all a unique case...... I dont know about the grapefruit seed extract - I think there are to many bloody things on the market for us to "buy". Remember that natural health is also a billion dollar a year enterprise........ Grapefruit will kill yeast and then could very well imobilize and shift the mercury in your body, not necessarily removing it unless you have a binding agent like DMSA or zeolite. But possibily your organs of elimination could be clogged and therefore you should work on this before anything, including amalgam removal. Treatment possibilities: 1. Do you have adrenal fatigue? if so start with 5 mgs of cortef cortisteroid in the AM and 2.5 mgs 2PM. If after 1 month not feeling any better or any worse then double this amount. If feeling worse, then could have a severe liver problem and the cortef is not able to dissolve. So then start with 4-6 months of liver detox If the cortef is working, continue for 4 months for a maximum or 18 months depending on your severity of adrenal fatigue. In six months if feeling better then start a multu glandular treatment - thymus, adrenal, pituitary, pancreas, thyroid - http://www.besthealthandbeautystore.com/page/1065337Continue for 6 months 2. Liver gall bladder detox http://www.nutritiondynamics.com/products/homeopathics/sarcodes.htm3. heavy metal detox and liver support dmsa, zeolite - milk thistle

Anon, in your post you said sunshine should not be asking for tips because everybody is different.....then you go onto lay out what treatment he could possibly try..
So I'm not sure what point you're trying to make. The forum here is the place people come to get "tips" and advice/support. Obviously most of us have exhausted doctors and haven't gotten too far.
Dont get me wrong, I think you've made some good points on the stuff you've recommended. But also the tips asked were mainly about extra protection for the removal, which many of us have picked up along the way and can pass on.
I agree with you on the antifungal, they can definitely blast a load of yeast in one go, breaking the cell walls and releasing any mercury contained within. I have experienced this myself and had to chelate it back out. But sometimes antifungals are necessary in extreme cases to control a bad infection. Personally I would go very slow and small when starting an antifungal.
