Andy does not usually recommend R-ALA because that was not the type he used when he did his studies on how to take ALA. He sticks with the usual, as he is not yet certain of how the other kind should be taken in order for the protocol to be safe/effective. But, It seems to have a slow release, which sounds better, however Andy hasn't yet recommended it. Some try it anyway and seem to find it works ok.
