Hi, My name is Alicia and I am new to this forum. I was just looking for some info and support and came this forum. I have been in a candida forum for three months. I went to a candida doctor because I was having many of the candida syndrome symptoms. My doctor ordered tests and it came out that my mercury is very high. I tood a DMSA chelator and my mercury came 7 more the allowed amount! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" /> Arsenic was also very high. I dont have amalgam fillings (I think.... how do you know what your fillings are made of??). My doc believes it is from fish. I am just devasted, I was planning to have a baby very soon and now my doctor told me to wait at least a year until the mercury is cleansed. I just need a cybernetic hug and good advise. Any comments would be greatly appreciated. Thanks a lot Alicia

Hi. I understand what you are going through. I am going through similar, although my problem is the fillings. I have now got an appointment to see a holistic dentist next week who uses no mercury, and I am so relieved to find one within an hours drive who genuinely seems to care. I am concerned about the oestradiol and the mercury now, as it seems weird I have symptoms of both. I get no periods, or at least only 1-3 a year, but no cause can ever be found. I think it's the sealants acting like birth control - at the very least aggravating maybe an existing problem. Please e-mail me if you would like to chat off list, I would really love to chat with someone else going through this stuff. My email is demererra@yahoo.co.uk

The mercury fillings are the silver/grey fillings. Perhaps you should purchase Dr. Hal Huggins book, "It's all in your head" he is the dentist who dared to prove that the mercury was leaching out of the fillings and poisoning us.

Hi Sandra and Demi,
I REALLY appreciate your responses and your support. I am going to devote the entire weekend to do research and investigate on the different methods for mercury chelation. I am going to start reading all the posts in this forum and others. I hope you dont mind my asking questions from time to time, and yes Demi, it would be an honour to talk to you about this, thanks for the offering, you are very kind.
Thanks for your response on the dental fillings, I dont have any then, so I guess my mercury toxicity comes from fish, which I have eaten from a lot.
Now, before I embark on the search for info quest for the best program, I have a question regarding the medicine that my doctor prescribed, it is called METAL FLUSH. It has Allium, Rheum, Smilax, and Glycyrrhiza. It has 120 capsules and costs $40. He has precribed this treatment for 10 months with a break in between. He told me it is a new product and I feel he is experimenting with me because I can't find much info on the net about this product! So this is his prescribed long term treatment
- Selenium - Vitam E - B-Complex - B-12 - Total EFA (essential fatty acids) - Magnesium - Potassium - Ester C - Olive leaf extract (for my candida yeast problem) - Custom Essentials (a vit complex which includes everything according to your needs) - Melatonin (I had sleeping disorders) Now all of the above I have been taken for 2 months)
- Drenatrofin, and licorice root capsules (I have adrenal dysfunction) - L-Carnitine - GLA (from borrage oil) - a blend of essential aminoacids - METAAL FLUSH (any idea about this product???????)
I promise that after doing research and reading I will not be asking you stupid questions
Thanks a lot for your time and help. You are a great support now.

Demi,
There are a lot of things out there including sealants that cause an estrogenic effect on the body. My daughter was having the same problem as you so I took her off milk(very high in estrogens plus they add extra) and she started using progesterone cream. She is now starting to have regular periods. Also, it doesn't seem that strange to me that you have both mercury and estrogen issues, I do too. Mercury blocks or messes up so many pathways and there are so many xenoestrogens in the environment that it is no wonder that so many females are out of balance.

Alicia, You're right...there's not a lot of information on Metal Flush, at least that I can find. I've included brief descriptions below on the ingredients you listed for this product: Allium (Garlic) possesses antibacterial, antiviral, antifungal and antiprotozoal activity, and provides beneficial effects on the immune system. One of the active components in garlic is allicin, the substance responsible for garlic?s pungent odor. Allicin has been shown to exhibit antiviral activity; antibacterial activity against a wide range of Gram-negative and Gram-positive bacteria; antiparasitic activity against various major human intestinal protozoan parasites; and antifungal activity, particularly against Candida albicans. Smilax (Sarsaparilla) is recognized by the German Commission E for the treatment of rheumatic complaints and kidney ailments. Sarsaparilla contains steroidal saponins that are responsible for its strong diuretic effect in high doses. Sarsaparilla also appears to help bind cholesterol and bacterial toxins, supporting the herb?s historical use as a liver aid, blood purifier and tonic. Glycyrrhiza (Licorice) exhibits a regulatory action on the adrenal glands and appears to have an effect on every system of the body. Licorice contains the active component glycyrrhizin, which can bind to glucocorticoid receptors, thus enhancing the activity of cortisol?a steroid hormone involved in glucose control, carbohydrate/fat/protein metabolism, inflammatory regulation, and the stress response. Glycyrrhizin also suppresses 5-beta-reductase, the main enzyme responsible for inactivating both cortisol and aldosterone?a steroid hormone that regulates the body's electrolyte balance. Licorice may be most beneficial in circumstances involving prolonged stress, where the ability of the adrenal glands to respond by releasing cortisol has been diminished. Furthermore, licorice may also be helpful for adrenal corticoid abnormalities such as adrenal insufficiency, adrenal enzyme deficiency, adrenalectomy (removal of both adrenal glands) and Addison?s disease?failure of the adrenal cortex to produce aldosterone and cortisol. Rheum (Rhubarb) is primarily used for constipation, diarrhea, dysentery, inflammatory skin conditions and jaundice, due to its ability to purify the blood, stimulate peristaltic action and the release of bile, enhance urine flow, and act as a mild laxative. More recent studies have also shown that rhubarb may help upper digestive tract bleeding. Another website also listed some additional ingredients in this product, so I've included info about them also: Chaenomeles, a commonly used herb in Traditional Chinese Medicine, is especially effective on rheumatism. Chaenomeles promotes circulation and exhibits anti-inflammatory and antispasmodic effects. Chaenomeles is particularly helpful for severe, cramping pain and weakness in the lower back and lower extremities. Chaenomeles also relieves cramping of the calves, leg edema, and arthritic and rheumatic conditions, especially of the legs. In addition, chaenomeles reduces food stagnation and helps indigestion. Glechoma longituba (also known as "Linking Gold Money Herb" or Lian Qian Cao), is commonly used in Traditional Chinese Medicine to promote urination, support liver and gallbladder function, and reduce conditions involving toxicity and swelling, including jaundice, abscess, snakebites and traumatic injuries. In case you're wondering where I got the above information, it's taken from a 600-page reference manual I wrote called the HART Master Reference. It provides scientific information (from peer-reviewed medical journals, studies, materia medicas, etc.) on various herbal medicines and nutritional supplements. In my opinion, Metal Flush seems quite expensive for what you're getting. To me, this product seems like a basic liver cleansing/detox support supplement. Plus, since most of the ingredients act upon the liver and gallbladder, you may experience some unpleasant "cleansing" effects: nausea, vomiting, headache, diarrhea/constipation, joint aches/pain, rashes/outbreaks on the skin, etc. While these effects are for the ultimate good of your body, they can be difficult to deal with if you "cleanse" too much or too quickly. Many people I've talked with "detoxed" too quickly and had to slow their programs way down and takes things slower. If you want to try the Metal Flush, I would definitely recommend taking something to absorb the toxins (including mercury which may be "stirred up" as a result of enhancing the liver's detoxification functions). In my experience, Algin is the best supplement I've found for mercury detox. Algin will bind to the mercury and eliminate it from the body via the colon. Without Algin, any mercury that does not get eliminated from the colon will be reabsorbed into the systemic circulation and redeposited in the body tissues. Also, you provided quite a list of supplements that you're taking or will be taking. Many of these supplements are very good and I highly recommend them for mercury detox: vitamin E with selenium and vitamin C especially. However, I would be very careful about some of the other supplements, particularly B-Complex with extra B12, since B12 methylates mercury making it much more toxic. Lastly, you listed a few supplements you're taking to help deal with symptoms that can be directly related to mercury toxicity: problems with candida yeast, poor sleep and adrenal dysfunction. All of these problems may very well clear up on their own with the need for supplementation. For example, my business partner's chronic candida problems (rashes under both arms) literally disappeared as soon as he got all his amalgams removed and have never returned. Here's some information on Olive Leaf Extract - which is particularly effective against Candida albicans and chronic yeast infections; Adrenal Support - which is an excellent formula for improving and/or restoring healthy adrenal gland function; and Melatonin and 5-HTP - which I use together on occasion, if I need help with getting deep, restful sleep. Actually, before I had my amalgams removed, I seldom had a good night's sleep...I would toss and turn throughout the night, waking up repeatedly, but taking Melatonin and 5-HTP made a huge difference. I hope this information will be helpful to you. Keep us all posted on how you're doing and what you find out in your research.

Thanks, Missy <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> I didn't know about the milk. That is interesting. What about soya milk instead? My sister is allergic to cows milk and has goats and for a long time has been telling me not to drink so much of it - but I read it had trytophan in it which helps with OCD so I thought it was good for me.
I definitely think the mercury is causing my problems along with the sealant and Bisphenol. Hopefully I can get filling material without both of them. My estradiol count was over 400, which is quite high I believe.

Dear Anonymous, I had all 20 of my mercury fillings removed by a dentist that had been specially-trained in and followed all the safe mercury-removal protocols. The dentist used a biocompatible material called DiamondLite, which contains no Bis-GMA (bisphenol A diglycidylether methacrylate). Not only does bisphenol have estrogenic effect, I also understand that it can cause liver and kidney damage long-term. According to my dentist, most of his patients (about 80%) get DiamondLite. Regarding milk as a source of trytophan...you might consider trying a supplement called 5-HTP (5-hydroxy-trytophan). This is a natural supplement that is the intermediary between trytophan and serotonin. The body produces 5-HTP from trytophan and uses the 5-HTP to produce serotonin. Here's some information about 5-HTP.

Missy, I definitely agree with you. In fact, before I had my amalgams removed, I had terrible PMS (about 3 weeks out of the month) and painful periods the first 2 days. I was using a progesterone cream and it helped some as long as I remembered to use it faithfully ( Pro-G-Yam 500). However, the good news is that with my mercury fillings out, the Pro-G-Yam cream works great. I have actually experienced pain-free periods that are about a day or so shorter, as well as lighter. I'm not on any birth control, so it's definitely the fillings that made the difference. I admit, if I do forget to put the cream on daily, I may experience a little cramping the first day, but nothing like it used to be before the removal. And, better yet, I only get PMS for maybe a day or two! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" /> I really encourage everyone to seriously research the subject of mercury poisoning from amalgam fillings. It honestly changed my entire life...I'm a different person emotionally, mentally and physically!

Thanks so much for the info, Laura!
This diamondlite sounds good. Is it available in the UK? If not, could a dentist get it for me?

PS - how expensive is it?
Now I have a possible replacement material, I can actually go to bed, lol. I've been reading up on alternatives to mercury virtually all night - so much to digest.
Thanks everyone for sharing what you've leant, it's a great help to those of us just learning. I feel quite alone on this, which is why I am posting so much. Thanks for listening <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

I honestly don't know if dentists in the UK use or can get DiamondLite, but I think I found the company's contact information, in case you want to give it to your dentist:

When I had my fillings replaced 4 years ago, it cost between $150 and $300 (U.S. dollars) per tooth to drill out each amalgam filling and replace them with DiamondLite.
As a bonus, I wasn't charged anything for the oxygen supply I received during the 7-hour removal process, or for the powdered charcoal freshly placed under my tongue each time, or for the post-removal checkup. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" />

I hope they can get the diamondlite, otherwise I might have to come to America for treatment, lol. I haven't found anything else I am happy to put in my teeth yet.
£100-50 seems reasonable for each tooth. I have three teeth that are the main problem, 2 molars on the right and one on the left. I want the left one extracted and the other two replaced. I have mercury fillings in a couple of the upper teeth, but they are small and don't cover the whole tooth. I also have a couple of white fillings that I might look into replacing, if possible, because I think they contain bisphenol.
