Well...in my opinion and from my own personal experience with mercury detox, I would be careful if taking this supplement (Detox Support by Now).

First of all, 3 capsules only provides 500mg of Algin, whereas the Algin I use (from NSP) provides 475mg per capsule.

Second, this product also contains Chlorella and MSM, which will both expel mercury from your tissues. Although I have used Chlorella successfully (with Algin!), I cannot tolerate MSM, even with Algin. MSM detoxes me too quickly causing me to feel sick and get headaches and other "mercury" symptoms.

Thirdly, this product contains Bladderwrack, which is a seaweed. Unless this company rigorously tests for heavy metal contaminants, the bladderwrack they use may actually contain mercury. You may want to contact the company to see if they test for heavy metals, specifically mercury, before you try it. Few supplement manufacturers test their products to the strict level that NSP does, plus NSP (which is based in Utah) voluntarily adheres to California's Proposition 65 (this legislation was created to ensure that any product sold within the state of California would not contain hazardous materials at harmful concentrations...it is the most restrictive law in the country.)

Lastly, this product also contains Milk Thistle. Milk Thistle is an excellent liver detoxifier and is the best herbal supplement for supporting healthy liver function. However, it can also cause people to experience certain "detox effects" if they take too much or if they detox too quickly (you might experience mild nausea, headaches, mood swings, irritability, or even skin rashes in some cases, especially if the intestinal system is not functioning in a healthy manner (the toxins have to go somewhere and if the colon is already loaded, the toxins will begin to come out through the skin which can cause a rash)). Don't misunderstand me, Milk Thistle is excellent...you just may want to start slowly. Unfortunately, since it is included in a supplement with other detoxifiers, the combined effect may be too much for some people.

Although I have tried a few NOW supplements (several years ago), I generally don't think their potency is very high (I managed 2 herb stores in Tampa, FL and the NOW brand is considered an "economy" brand). Personally, when I took the NOW products, I never really noticed any positive effects.

I can say that I personally don't take either MSM or Milk Thistle because my body cannot handle their detox effects yet.

Most people I've talked with have made the same mistake I did in the past by trying to detox too quickly. I've come to the realization that for most people, it's best to detox nice and slowly and make it a lifestyle change rather than a race.

As far as shipping on the NSP Algin goes, we can ship a bottle within the U.S. for about $2 first class mail, which can take 3-5 days to arrive depending on where you live relative to western NY. Priority mail is only $3.85 and you'll get it in 2 or 3 days. I'm really not trying to "push" NSP's Algin...I just know that for me, having had 20 fillings, I definitely depend on it. I just honestly haven't found anything else that works as well for me.
