I have to add something here. I got sucked into the "glyconutrients" (mannatech) fad. I was told that this would help me and that it ddn't matter what a person suffered, this was the ticket. The 8 sugars that are lacking in our foods due to early picking to extend shelf life, are apparently contained in these precious supplements in the form of glyconutrients. The missing link basically and are crucial for cell to cell communication. Contained in fruits/vegetables when they ripen, but missing in our foods because of early picking.
I started to take them and was not helped by them at all apart from an initial "boost" which didn't last and did not resolve the underlining problem AT ALL. and on top of this I could not handle the expense. I was then pretty much *by the cost alone* forced into trying to sell them to others (pyramid selling). With my health being what it is and the fact I am a useless salesperson, I was not up for doing that and felt that it was unfair to my relatives or friends that they too would be sucked into having to do the same thing in order to afford them. One guy we knew was trying to have his whole family take them and then assign others to do it so he could keep up the expense. Finally he had to give it up. he could not sign up enough people to lower the cost for himself.
The cost of these products is quite ridiculous and the only people who can afford them are those that are working or have some other means to enough money....how many very sick people can work full time?
So who are they REALLY aimed at? I've seen more than enough healthy people getting into glyconutrients and getting pretty wealthy and going on many holidays, whilst the ones below are struggling to get well, struggling to afford them and struggling to sign others up (often too sick to even go out and sell them).
They did not work for me and I was told that I just needed to take even more. This meant even more expense. But i was desperate. When that wasn't working, I got told it was just a matter of time and that I needed to keep on it longer. Finally after a long enough time, with the typical ongoing excuses as to why they weren't really working, I quit, I got so fed up. THe guy who was selling them to us was very annoyed and told me I had a mental block towards healing. He made all sorts of claims on the products, later he ended up in hospital with a heart attack and many other health complications. So much for that.
One homeopath told me he stopped bothering with the products because often after an initial "high", people had crashed and he felt they were in the end, rather ineffective.
Yet again I have heard incredible testimonies at the sametime, so it is really hard to know what is going on, but something usually stinks when you are forced into pyramid selling and when there are people getting rich on it. Supposedly "Christian" based company and to me they give it a rotten name. The guy who is respnsible for the product is fat and looks unwell. Wow what an advertisement, what's it doing for him apart from broadening his wallet...? They claimed that the expense would go right down as soon as they replenished the costs in producing it in the first place....did that ever happen? No. It remains a big money making scheme.
If that has happened? I'd be interested in hearing about it. This goes for many other money making products geared towards the sick and vulnerable. Desperate people will take desperate measures and fall for many promises just to get their health back.
