I want to take out these darn fillings as soon as possible. Does anyone know of any reputable mercury amalgam filling removal dentists in the New York or New Jersey area? I'm scared to mess with the wrong dentists. Since i've had more negative results from dentists/doctors then positive. I don't think i can trust them anymore unless recommended by several people and fully researched.

I have exactly the same question,
So far I am interested in these two, but I doubt I can afford either one of them.
http://www.drpgilbert.com/

Does anyone have any experience with either one?

PS I have about 18 huge mercury fillings about 20-30 yrs old... 2 unfilled root canals from a few years ago plus all my teeth are cracked and causing severe pain like you could not imagine. Since these problems have been untreated for so long I have developed a severe inflammation that has been causing a hot rash on my face and swelling my brain and causing seizures and blackouts almost every day. by now I am almost a complete zombie.. I wish I can find a dentist I can trust and who could work with me, but I don't see it happening.
After everything I have been going through, I dont have much faith in dentists anymore or the medical profession in general.

PPS I have to really appreciate the irony that health insurance and the govt is willing to pay a small fortune to feed me all kinds of censored drugs for example Imitrex, Topamax, Neurontin, Risperdal, Lipitor, Nexium (all of which I have politely refused) yet they refuse to pay one penny to help me with dental work, which is the obvious source of the problem.

Private dentists can be extremely expensive, especially in NYC where dental fees can be double or more the national average. Have you contacted the NYU Dental School clinic? They have been advertising on cable tv "affordable" dental care. Imo you should probably call them and find out what they have to offer, or if they can offer you any advice. They might not want to work on amalgams that aren't in bad condition though.

This woman did mine:

http://www.drbrand.wdol.com/

She did a very good job, I feel. She's IAOMT certified, does all the precautions. I'd give her an A- or so; my only problem with her was that I had to ask her to put suction right on the tooth and to rinse my mouth better. The first session I was spitting up amalgam particles which wasn't good.

But she really gets that mercury is horrible and dangerous.

I paid around $1800 for 5 fillings removed and replaced with composites.

I would certainly recommend Isabelle Brand.

I see Dr. Mark Berkowitz, who is a mercury-free dentist in Morganville, NJ. He's been removing my fillings since February, and I have slowly been able to regain my health since beginning removal. He has years of experience and is very willing to discuss any concerns you may have about removal.

I also use Dr. Berkowitz in Morganville, NJ. I did not begin removal yet but know that he has a lot of experience with this.

are you the same guy that posted on curezone? I answered a similar post there, so I'll copy and paste the info I gave on there and hope it maybe of help in case you're not the same one.

I have located dentists there in New York on this link below. This website is excellent with a lot of great information. Scroll right down the page to see them all.
http://www.holisticdentalnetwork.com/Newyork.php

Here's dentists in New Jersey. Again you'll need to scroll down the page to see them all. I say that because I made the mistake of thinking there was only one dentist, without even scrolling and seeing others listed beneath eachother.http://www.holisticdentalnetwork.com/NewJersey.php

people can also get in touch with the doctor on there and ask him advice. He puts people in touch with the most reputable dentists. He's done that with me and one dentist on there I spoke with was excellent. May have been Paul Gilbert. But I cannot be sure it was ages back and I only asked him some advice.

I would also highly recommend ceramic restorations (cerec porcelain in particular). It seems they are very successful, at least two i know of on one forum alone got them and are doing well. One in particular was highly chemically sensitive and ill and is coping fine with cerec, healing and now working. They last about 20 or more years, do not tend to leach out their components like composites/amalgam.

Here is another link for you to read, which mentions some of the best materials also.
It is PDF, so takes a while to load

As for the best alternative to replacing teeth? I am not sure about that, possibly a bridge/partial? Some people recommend dental implants like zirconium implants and feel they are biocompatible. But I dont know enough about that.

I hope this is somewhat helpful.

Sorry I cannot provide more info, as I have not seen any of them, I do not live in the US. But I hope someone can offer more info. Expense is a big issue. How many sick people have that much money? Yet we need it in order to try and get well. What a joke!

Unfortunately cerec is highly expensive too, so that probably wont be much help either. Though it lasts most of your lifetime, it's the expense at the time that most of us cannot afford. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" />

Untreated dental infections can become very serious. A few months ago I read about a child who had an untreated dental infection and it spread to his brain and killed him. While such instances of people dying from untreated dental problems are rare, untreated dental problems can more often cause systemic illeness. It is not something that should be ignored.
I found this web page listing free and low cost dental treatment in NYC.
