Hey Anon I like your attitude. I think that a lot of us felt very similar to how you feel now when we originally found out what the deal was. I know exactly how you feel about talking with your family about this matter which is incidentally akin to talking with a brick wall. Half smiles and glazed looks. I am fortunate in the fact that a few of my friends studied Naturopathy with me and are quite sympathetic to my plight.

The thing that make me sooooo frustrated is that so many people out there who are passionate about a certain topic are generally privy to talk endlessly about their cherished topic, be it politics, art, sport, whatever. For me, I have become extremely interested in the topic of mercury (perhaps a little obsessed ) but I feel frustrated as I have very few people in my day to day life that I can discuss it with. Thankgod for this forum.

Sometimes I feel like the truth about mercury in Amalgams will never come out publicly. How could it ? Could you ever imagine a spokesman for the American Dental Association / Australian Dental Association / Canadian Dental Association .. admitting that amalgam is indeed a neurotoxin and should never have been used in the mouths of millions of people and causes countless maladies.

Yeh right. I can just picture it. Even in Scandanavia where they have banned amalgam fillings the government and Dental Association has never admitted anything. I cannot remember exactly what their excuse for banning it was (but thank heavens they did !!). Perhaps it was just conveniently decided that white composites were more aesthetically appealing.

I am probably a pessimist but I truly believe that the truth about amalgams and mercury will never come out publcly. It can't. Could you imagine the FDA or the TGA (Therapeutic Goods Association of Australia) formally making a statement to the effect that "Mercury in Dental Amalgam contains a neurotoxin called Mercury which depending upon your genetic / health predisposition is very likely to cause some or all of the following symptoms: Depression, anxiety, tremors, headaches, teeth grinding, pituitary disorders, thyroid disorders, anger, chronic fatigue, fibromyalgia, candida, parkinson's disease, alzheimer's disease, allergies, obsessive-compulsive disorder, sleep disorders, panic attacks, learning disabilities, endocrine problems, borderline personality disorder, constipation, irritable bowel disorder, attention deficit hyperacitvity disorder... it just goes on and on.

Yeh right, I can just see them admitting that to millions and millions of people. Fortunately the windows in our modern high rise office blocks cannot be opened from the inside.
