5 amalgams isn't as much as many of us. It depends how badly you were poisoned, how long you've been poisoned and how much your body hangs onto the mercury.

I think if the supplements are aiding you, that is really good. Some people do choose to let things take their slow natural course and if you're feeling ok, you may choose to leave it at that. But again, if your organs are storing a heavy load of mercury they may start to dump this over time, which may increase your symptoms unexpectedly later on down the road. Not everybody has this, but many do and there is no telling when it will happen but typically 6 months after last amalgam removal or later even than that.

Some can start almost immediately and get worse, then go into a kind of remission, then bad again later on when the dumping stage starts hitting.

This is why Andy Cutler does advice a person chelating so that they may already be chelating organ mercury so that you will be detoxing by the time that stage hits you. You do not have to and you certainly do not have to take anything in the early stages if you'd prefer not to. DMSA is a typical one people start with to aid their body in eliminating the already accessible mercury in the blood/tissue. But the body can do this by itself over time, but not nearly as fast or efficiently which is why many cannot cope and find DMSA helps.

But some let their body do that intially and then later use ALA to chelate their organs and brain. So long as it's 3 months or more post last amagam removal, you're safe to use ALA. Best to use it the way Andy Cutler advises, every 3-4 hours around the clock for about 3 days every week or so.

It all depends on how you feel and what you wish to do. You may go ok as you are and a good healthy diet and supplements will do a lot to aid the natural process of some mercury elimination. But again, depends on how badly poisoned you are and where hte mercury is mostly stored.
