Hi. I have been suffering with neurological symptoms (numbness, tingling) for nearly two years now. I have had brain MRI, CT scan, numerous bloodwork and my neurologist and doctor can find nothing wrong. In addition to the numbness and tingling I have short term memory issues (brain fog), lethargicness, and short sightedness (all of which were perfect before symptoms began. I am male, 28 and from the UK.
I have 8 amalgam fillings, which were all put in at the same time (didn't go to the dentist for years). They were put in just under 4 years ago.
I am in the process of getting myself tested for Mercury poisoning and then hopefully get the fillings replaced (safely of course).
It would make sense that Mercury is my problem as my doc and neuro have found nothing clinically wrong with me....
Do you think it could be likely?

Yes it is highly likely because mercury is a potent neuro-toxin and is so insidious that often nothing really shows up in testing yet can cause just about any symptom and mimics many illnesses. It also depends on your own particular weaknesses (genetic etc) and where the mercury is and how your body handles it. Some people can get MS symptoms, another may get mental symptoms and be functioning fine in their limbs, but their minds can be in a state. or both. Sad thing about mercury is the suffering it can cause can be so many things all once. Physical, mental and even spiritual suffering.
I hope that for you the amalgam removal will result in eventual recovery. I am glad that you're seeking out a safe removal because the removal itself can be so terribly risky.
You may well have hit on the answer to these issues of yours. Mercury is so often the hidden offender and often missed. Yet it is actually one of the main things people should look at because it is an ongoing constant exposure in direct contact with the mouth, nose and every other areas of the body and brain. Plus the fact there is not much competition to it in toxicity, it's the worst (second only to Plutonium in toxicity). So to my mind it should always be considered in any condition where a person is simply not getting any other answers and testing is not showing the cause.
But how many of us have instead been put through the mill of psychoanalysis, antidepressants, counselling, anxiety groups, blood tests, the whole deal and been labelled pretty much as neurotic or whatever else.
For me, I was put through all of that and finally by a good doctor who actually took an interest in my health (yep believe it or not) and got me on a diet that excluded sugar, wheat/gluten etc. For the first time in my life, after going through initial detox symptoms I improved GREATLY. i was not cured because I was mercury toxic, but nobody knew that at that time. But I was certainly a great deal better and the depression lifted significantly. No antidepressants required!!! This was the best antidepressant I ever had, simply diet alone. It lifted my ongoing headaches and many other problems.
however, I still had the underlining toxicity going on which was still evident in many ways, but relieved by this candida diet I was put on. Typically mercury toxic people have a problem with yeast overgrowth in the body and this can cause many horrible symptoms on it's own and in combo with mercury. That is something to look at whilst you deal with the amalgams because in many cases it can really help your symptoms and aid in healing also.
Though be warned, if you engage on such a diet and if you do have a yeast problem, you will likely go through a temporary withdrawal detox, which is not pleasant, but it is necessary if one wishes for at least some relief from symtpoms. not a cure for mercury but an aid in many cases.
Of course, the cure is the actual dealing with what is really wrong! that also is not easy because of exposure during removal of amalgam, plus the inevitable after dumping of stored mercury you get once all amalgams are gone. That is most unpleasant for many people, but something the body wishes to do to try and heal itself over time.
An excellent book I would recommend you get if you can, is the one advertised on this website. If you look at the top left of the page on this site, you'll see a yellow book. It is called "amalgam Illness, Diagnosis and Treatment" by Andrew Hall Cutler, Probably one of hte most valuable books you will ever own with this condition. How to test for it, how to tell if you have it, what symptoms, what mercury does, how it works, how to treat it and what to do to help symptoms. It's not the easiest of reading at times, but of great value.
Cheers.

i too have numbness. ive had a brain mri,ct scan, loads of blood work.and they cant find anything wrong.apart from having hypotyroidism. which i know can mimic ms. all my symptoms came on about 4 years after having these bloody fillings put in my mouth. i had my fillings removed about 6 months ago.and i am starting to feel better. your problem is most likely the fillings. but have you considered checking for lyme disease. i was tested referred to a specialist,to see dr owen in cardiff. who sends your blood work to igenex in america.. maybe worth looking in too...

Do you think it could be likely? More than likely, probable. I would also express that I don't believe the current method of diagnosing cavities is good. If a dentist says you need them, get a second opinion. (It's been said that over 50% of dental fillings are unnecessary. I believe it's more like 95%). Normally, dentists stick a sharp stainless steel "poker" into your tooth enamel. If it seems to "stick" a little, indicating that the enamel is "soft"-er than is should be, they determine that a filling is necessary. In the process of installing the filling, they drill out large amounts of perfectly good, biocompatible, non-toxic, functional enamel and install a toxic substance in its place. This makes as much sense as injecting yourself with ethylene glycol. I do see a place for fillings, but only when they are truly necessary to prevent imminent problems. Otherwise, add alkaline foods to your diet including calcium and vitamin D supplements. (Soft enamel is generally a sign of "calcium-stealing" in an acidic body.) Certain aspects of dentistry are still in the dark ages.
