Hi Elias, sorry if I took you a bit up the wrong way. And I take onboard what you are saying and realise the need to really take the safe approach particularly with someone who still has amalgams.
However, you got the DMSA comments slightly incorrect. Andy recommends DMSA as the FIRST course of action and if used appropriately it will reduce the high blood levels that people poisoned with mercury have. It does not cross the blood brain barrier, so it is safe to use to begin detoxing mercury in the early stages (right after amalgam removal or recent mercury exposure). It will cause redistribution if it is used inappropriately (like randomly), which is why he says to take it every 4 hours around the clock, so the mercury is not bounced around erratically but instead escorted out more evenly. REdistribution is not completely avoidable anyway, even exercising can cause that! And in actual fact DMSA taken the right way has been known in some cases to actually correct a bad redistribution or backlash from wrong chelation. But again, anytime mercury is moved / removed, some redistribution is expected because it has to resettle also and causes symptoms when it's being moved even if it's a safer protocol.
ALA crosses the blood brain barrier and should NOT be used unless the person has already reduced blood levels (with DMSA or leaving it to happen naturally), or they will risk the ALA taking the still high body levels of mercury up into the brain with it.
This is why Jinx would need to get his blood levels of mercury down and DMSA would help him do that BUT he still has amalgams, so you see the problem? If he had them out he would be free to chelate with DMSA or DMPS to reduce the blood or his body would do this on its own gradually (though far slower and not as effective).
Later ALA can be added to chelate organs/brain. as for supplementation, that is a hard one. I know for some it has been very helpful even without getting blood testing. General antioxidants are seriously depleted by toxicity, and the addition of vitamin C, vitamin E, selenium, milk thistle etc can aid that and even encourage detox to occur if the mercury is more accessible, plus provides extra protection against it.
I do understand what you are saying and how supplementing this or that can then cause imbalances elsewhere or deplete others. It's really difficult to ignore someone asking for help, when i have andy's book here too and yes anon, the supplements I spoke of are already suggested by him and many others who have studied toxicity or even candida for years on end and find the typical supplements to be the rule for most rather than the exception and seem to work pretty well generally for most people.
Nobody is pretending to be a chemist here, most of us are amateurs I assume, but how many of us have been harmed by so-called experts?. We'd not be here in the first place trying to help eachother out with little or no qualifications at the sametime. instead we have been forced into investigating ourselves and doing much reading and with that and many mistakes along the way we try and use that to help or warn other people.
Again, anything I mention is never out of my own imagination or me getting ideas, it is always from qualified people who have often been through it themselves and treated MANY MANY people for many years. I think they definitely know a thing or two and the proof is in the pudding, which I have seen often.
You cannot expect all people to respond perfectly or even favourably, but if many do to similar protocols, then surely Jinx has a right to hear that and give it a go?
I hate to gamble with his health, but he hasn't got anybody where he is and says he is getting worse regardless. But yes I do agree with you that diet should be the first aim to get right without any added supplements or chelation and go from there and later perhaps trying out things one by one very gradually and seeing the response.
