i read the discussion about people that are 100% cured.
Unfortunately there are no healthy people here on this board, besides russ and laura. This is not very encouraging but i had an idea why this could be. Full recovery might take years, and i bet a large percentage here had their fillings removed in the last 2.5 years.

but lets try it.

Post the following information here:

Removal of your last filling: 0 months, 0 years
How you feel: BETTTER, SAME, WORSE, CURED,

Here is my info:

Removal of last filling: 10 months
How I feel: WORSE <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" />

Removal of your last filling: 3 months (2/8/07)

How you feel:

BETTTER and/or CURED: eye twitch almost gone, ringing in the ears almost gone, depression gone, clarity regained, brain fog gone, strength returning to upper body, light sensitivity gone, aches in joints gone, cracking in joints gone, digestive problems getting better every month, libido regained, short term memory regained <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

SAME: tolerance to cold/heat getting a little better, energy level and getting off the sleep meds are the last thing I am waiting on...everything else has either left or is almost gone.

I think what you are finding is that the people who have been cured have left the forum.

removal of fillings 3 years ago
much less sensitive to chemicals and electricity
still have ever present emotional problems which havent changed much
still have digestive problems, tinnitus, dizzines, dry eyes at night etc
Overall a slight improvement. But i have a feeling most of that improvement has been from changing my liflestyle and diet. I am worried that it all may have been a waste of time and money

last amalgam come out 1 month ago out of 15 total , but still have very small amount under bridge work will be removing that very soon.
compared to 8 monthes ago I am doing much better ,I have even started a second job to keep myself busy again ,my wife can not believe the tranformation , like russ said in his story its a rollercaoster ride, but at least it's on the upward trend ,I decided not to do agressive chelation with dmsa or lipoic acid I do not want to screw up any of my progress ,too many horror stories about chelation gone bad!!!!!!

I am worried it may be also, plus the possibility of another major poisoning event if I get too many removed. I decided to just get one major one pulled for now, way in the back, maybe fix a couple over the summer and see how it goes, and otherwise do nothing except continue a good healthy chelating diet. Thing is, all the complaining I see here, my previous experience with the often exorbitant expense of dentists, and I am chelating with amalgams still in... which according to most local wisdom is a no no... and I feel quite well. The big huge amalgam filling is bothering me, that is the one I will have pulled. I think there is more amalgam there than tooth and I am afraid to let even the best dentist drill that thing out. Plus I have some concern with replacing one toxic material, amalgam, with another, plastics. So really I am not sure about complete removal here. I mean, my childhood dentist put amalgam fillings on the backs of both my front teeth. Absolutely no way am I going to let a dentist drill trhose, I'd probably lose the teeth. So I am stuck and can't replace them all anyway.

that is the conclusion I have come to after visiting here and talking with all of you the past couple months. I seem to be doing a lot better than most here, and I have a whole bunch of amalgam still in my teeth.

I was suppose to go and have the one tooth fixed last week...I canceled the appt due to fear of the dental drill and empty pockets from the last attempt by the (other) hack dentist which caused me an enormous doctor bill just to feel normal again.

I am glad I learned to chelate though, there is a hidden blessing in here..

to sosick : I felt the same way before I had my amalgams removed , but now I am so glad that I did ,I had a large back right amagam that was huge ,when the dentist removed it ,he told me that it contained about 4 average filling worth of amalgam , I had 2 others done at the same time ,so alot of mercury came out on that dental visit ,I started to feel better with in a week of just those 3 removed ( go for it) i have had the last 6 removed at one time ,just to get it over with I spent about 5 hours in the chair for the last visit and well worth it I feel much better now and it was well woth it

Right, I know it can be done, but I lost the molar directly above this fully filled amalgam one several months ago due to a dentist that ignored my complaints of a toothache... he did other work which caused a horrible infection so it got pulled. It doesn't make sense to me to spend close to 750-1000 dollars on the one below which is now useless anyway.

Plus I have some concerns about that much plastic in my mouth. The dentist here is suppose to be great, he's also very expensive. He wants 475.00 for a first visit. I was already in there once, I went and did allergy testing like he requested... that cost quite a bit, and zirconia, as I had requested for replacements, wasn't even on the list of tested materials and I tested allergic to all of the flowable materials.

It's kind if sad that dentists think they shouild be the highest paid people in town. They charge more than most doctors for an office visit, and they do generally crappy work if you figure in that most any material they use in your mouth is poisonous.

Maybe your dentist is more affordable. Was he a 'biological' dentist or a regular one? What city are you in?

Removed 18 silver fillings within 2 month period.
3 years later still no better and believe it was a waste of my money. I really beleived I was mercury toxic.

But im still glad I have ruled it out and will not worry if it is possible to cause any autoimmune diseases

I think it depends on what sort of detoxifier you are as to whether you will get better by amalgam removal alone, and also where the burden of mercury is. If you have a high quantity of brain mercury, removing amalgams alone won't make you better. You have to CHELATE to get the mercury out.

Yes it does. But the problem with mercury is it's not an illness that is cut and dry. Amalgam removal is only a step, the rest is getting rid the toxicity out that has accumulated for years. Some people can do this quite fast, others do not and there are no guarantees that there will be 100% cure after it or what damage has been done in the process. It seems everybody is different and there have been people on here much improved and who just left the forum and got on with their lives. Once you saw them improving, they appeared less and less and then gone.

Once they go, new people come and take their place and because so many people join and you forget those that leave over time, you start to get the impression that this is "it". When it isn't. For some of us? Yeah, we might stay sick for various reasons, not just mercury which i believe is why some people on here are not progressing as they should. alongside the fact mercury takes years to leave the system also.

Though for some they improve greatly over time anyway and can get on with their lives, even if they are not yet cured.

This question about who has gotten well (or improved) has been asked a number of times on this forum and people have given their postiive testimonies. Perhaps they get a bit weary of stating it again as I think someoen asked this not too long ago...?

response to sosick : I found my dentist though the IAOMT listing He uses safe removal practices, and is very affordable
he charged me $1800.00 for the removal and replacment of 9 fillings ,after my insurance reinbursed me It only came to $900.00 ,but I would have paid much much more knowing what I know now. the dentist that did my bridge work did not use safe removal practces (and I was not aware of them back then ) and paid a heavy price I was sick for about 3 months , I never want to go through that again , but that is how I found out that mercury was causing my illness ,so I t may have been a blessing without even knowing it at the time

I have an IAOMT dentist. The prices yours is charging looks like a walk in the park next to the prices I was quoted. I could get maybe 2-3 teeth done for that price.

Maybe I should call a few different dentists in a few different cities, get some prices and then ask the guy here why he is charging so much more.

I already called an IAOMT dentist about 200 miles away and he was charging even more than the dentist here, about $1000 per tooth.

Go figure. I cannot afford to get this done after spending 4-5 months sick just a short while back.. my business has suffered because I was not here a lot of the time, and I am back due on bills all over the place as a result.

Your dentist is charging even less than the regular dentists around here. What city are you in?

I have used cutlers book to rectify issues along the way but heres my rough diary.
Better
June 05 Very limited diet, candida diets for nearly 2yrs Removed fillings, 1st session no respirator, others I insisted to have one
July Could barely walk up stairs
Dec Going now where, diet is still what ever you want to call it, bee's diet, SCD, ecology, protein power, low carb, vitamins, minerals. Bad constipation still, had for most of yr
Feb looking into mercury, only thing I had not looked into
March 06 Found arsenic and mercury issues on hair test started DMSA 25mg,
4 rds later 50mg DMSA, 2rds later 25mg DMSA-50mg ALA.
3 months later went from not walking more that 30yds to walking miles and running for 5mins
Another month later no constipation issues now tolerate b vitamins finally
June/July 06 Tolerate things like pumpkin/squashes
Dec 06. Now tolerate sulphur foods, garlic, leeks etc.
March 07 Near normal energy, running fine, weight training 1-2 times week.
April 07 Now tolerate rice, small ammounts of potatoes, beets etc. Weight loss without high fats in diet so still using those for that purpose. Remaining items not 100% sure on gut but its good, lichen planus or candida in mouth, high copper still. Cows milk protein still causes a big reaction in gut, gluten in wheat etc not so bad. Also I do not know if it has anything to do with it but I seem to have much more saliva in my mouth when eating so I do not know whether this is why carb digestion has improved

Only had mental symptoms such as depression and believed amalgams may have caused it.

So removed them and I am now definately alot WORSE.
Before I just had concetration and laziness problems due to depression.

After the removal (from using hal hauggins method too) I got WORSE as in I developed anxiety, social anxiety, muscle tics, Constant Vibration or shakes in muscles when I move them an dpanic attacks and mood swings...ITS NOT WORTH GETTING THEM OUT.

I have chelated for 2 years and been on the candida diet strictly and to no avail im still suffering. Im scared i got MS or parkinsons or damaged my brain permantly now...Its prob best to leave your amalgams in its not worth the ris of removal as it can harm you more. I wish I never had mine removed <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" />.....

What dosages of ALA and DMSA are you using? Are you jamming your body with vitamins/supplements? You might want to stop everything for 4-6 weeks and see if you improve??? I am trying to get to bottom of this now - I think one can do too much.

I'm really sorry to hear that you feel worse after your removal. I, too, was having problems with depression, negativity, poor concentration, etc. (more emotional and mental symptoms than physical actually).

But after my amalgams were removed, also by a dentist following the Huggins safety protocols, I felt like a new person. It was almost as if overnight, the huge suffocating cloud of depression and negativity vanished. In fact I realized I felt happy for no reason...a real first for me.

Of course I did experience a roller coaster ride in the beginning...some good days, some not as good, but overall the days got better and better, and the bad days got less and less. I honestly didn't know much about chelation back then. All I knew at that time to use was lots of vitamin C and chlorella. About a year later, I discovered Algin. I didn't find out about Dr. Cutler's book (Amalgam Illness: Diagnosis & Treatment) until a couple of years after that.

Just a couple of thoughts...

Did your dentist really follow all the Huggins safety protocols? I've heard of some dentists who just pick and choose which methods they use and yet they claim to follow the procotols. If you weren't given your own oxygen supply or the dentist didn't use a special HEPA filtering vacuum (just the little tube vacuum in your mouth), then you were likely exposed to a lot of mercury vapor during the drilling procedure, which could definitely make you sick.

Or, perhaps you are taking supplements or detox products that are too aggressive and causing you to reabsorb or redistribute mercury. This is a very common cause of people feeling worse after amalgam removal. Feel free to post what supplements you're taking or foods you're eating (i.e. cilantro, garlic, eggs, etc.), and I'm sure others on the forum will gladly help decipher what things, if any, might be causing you problems.

P.S. I just saw a video last week that revealed how dangerous Root Canals are and how they can make people sick. Do you have any?

Hope to hear back from you. We're all here to help however we can.

Hi, before I got permanently sick from a virus and other infections, I was recovering from mercury toxicity after amalgam removal and chelation.

So I'll go back to that. I had my last remaining amalgams finally removed in 1997. I got very sick on the last removal, whcih could have been from swallowing mercury on that appointment after the assistant failed to use suction at the right time.

Following that, I had headaches and many toxic or detox symptoms. Hard for me to know what it was. I do believe the removal may have set off a response in my system to start trying to push mercury out.

I had some chelation with DMSA, but not quite the best way to do it. However, it was only temporary and seemed to improve me a bit (at the time). Unfortunately my body decided about a year later to get very very toxic again and I did not recognise that the stored mercury was beginning to leak back out of my organs (which apparently it most certainly does in many people).

So from there and getting a DMPS IV injection I was incredibly sick. I had no idea of effective/safe protocols and pretty much played around and did anything and everything, causing myself a lot of pain in the process because of wildly moving mercury around. At any rate, my body was trying to get it out and anything at that point would set off a healing crisis. I would just get a free patch of improvement and then MORE mercury would rise to the surface again to be excreted and it was an ongoing process like a roller coaster. clearing a bit, then filling up again and so on and so on until enough mercury had been cleared to where I began to feel more permanent improvements.

So for me it was a long difficult detox process but I was getting there and coming right. Took probably about....2-3 years of detoxing to see the light. However, I must say that had I been detoxing properly and consistantly with a protocol that suited me? I'd no doubt have saved myself much misery in the process and sped up the recovery.

I dont know about 100% cured....what is 100%??? I had nothing to compare things to, I couldn't say how it feels to be perfectly healthy. But I certainly felt I was far improved, which was more than enough for me.

I went down hill later as I said from infections which took a terrible toll on my immune systema and I've remained somehow permanently changed since.

As far as infections etc go - check out this link:
http://www.lowdosenaltrexone.org/index.htm#What_is_low_dose_naltrexone .

I stumbled on to this 3 years ago right after a flue bug almost killed me. After taking it I haven't even had a cold since, while people all around me were going down with the flue. It's also dirt cheap. I told my doctor about it and he just nodded. I told him again on another visit and this time he asked me to email him a link. He now perscribs it and thanks me for making him aware of it.

Hi thanks for the link. I may look into that. I live in New Zealand though, so not sure how I'd get hold of it or the cost. I am on a benefit, so maybe difficult.

I'm concerned too about the body becoming reliant on this and what happens if it does and one would need to take larger doses for the same effect? Or if you had to stop it for some reason would one get even worse after stopping it...

anyway, I'm really appreciative of you passing this onto me. Thanks so much!

You can go to any dentist and get a panoramic xray done. You can also ask for a copy of it or keep the original if you wish.

From that xray, you should be able to see if there is remaining amalgam under the white composites. If you want, you can get it scanned and put it on your computer and show it on the forum.

You can never be sure because we put our trust fully in these people, but so often trust has been broken so its no wonder people are now ultra wary of those in the medical/dental industry, and for good reason. Not always a great track record!

So you're not alone in asking these questions.

And yes you could have another problem as well as mercury or aside from mercury. It's very difficult to know, because so many things are just not readily detected unless they are blatantly obvious.

I had a total of 12 fillings. One was removed by a regular dentist. I felt terrible after that. I couldn't remember to make dinner, was so sleepy all of the time and had no get up and go. It was after that , that I found out about the proper way to have the fillings taken out. I had 4 replaced about 2 weeks ago. I feel soooo much better already. I am also taking whole food supplements and huge doses of reduced glutathione. The reduced glutiathione is very important (it must be reduced) . I also take several teaspoons a day of raw unfiltered honey, this gives me alot of energy. Selenium is important as well. Supplementation is very important and the type of supplements. Diet is also important, are you eating processed foods?( I in case you haven't noticed I use the word important alot <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/blush.gif" alt="" />) Most of the foods available have hidden sources of MSG (which btw kills brain cells) truthinlabeling.org has a list of where and how msg is hidden, I would suggest you ready that and print a copy.

I agree with the above poster who suggested that root canals can be a problem for those who are not having a good recovery.

There are no easy answers but a whole lifestyle change is needed to heal. A good detox, proper suppplementation and prayer is the key to better health.

removal of last filling: Jan. 2005 (no Huggins protocol)
first year after that I saw no improvement and was feeling worse overall because I now had tooth pain and major chemical sensitivity.
2006: Added Algin to my supplements-each month was getting better and better. November was amazing because I felt so much better physically and suddenly was feeling great emotionally/mentally. But, then I thought, hey I can save money and cut back on my detox supplements and I also decided to use up the chlorella that I had used in the beginning. Maybe it was the combination of the two or???? but I crashed. Started losing weight again and my ANS was totally working in the sympathetic mode.
January 2007: Went back to doing everything that I was before the crash and realized that I had to start counting my water consumption again to make sure I was getting enough (I have low blood volume which seems to cause the nervous system problems).

So now here I am today, I would say that I am way better than I was before removal , but have to work very hard at it everyday.

I haven't had a doctor the entire time. I have had to rely on trial and error and the good information that I got from the people at this forum <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

Detoxer, I had all 8 fillings out-- and had them removed slowly --(two at a time, every other month or so. )

I did all the detoxing and did cleanses, as well as increased my vitamin C and minerals-- no junk foods, took Algin in between all my dental appointments and I began chelating after the last filling was out.

I was fortunate in that I have had no bad mercury detox side effects-- and I didnt go to a holistic dentist either.

I was exposed to mercury being drilled out of one of my last molars, which left me very dizzy and extreemly fatigued in a matter of minutes after the dental visit. I stuck my face in a fan, rinsed my eyes with canned saline solution, washed myself when I got home--- and took lots of Vitamin C with the bioflavonoids, and Algin-- with fruit juices after. The fatigue and dizzyness lifted. I believe it was because of the Vitamin C , Algin, and my washing off the mercury vapor immediately upon coming back from the dental office, that this mercury exposure side-effect didn't last long.

Over a year later, I am thankfully not experiencing any bad effects from getting my metal fillings replaced. I was afraid of becoming a victim of "mercury dump" which often happens--- as the body starts dumping stored deposits of mercury after the original sources are removed (fllings)

Thank God- I have not only NOT experienced any noticable side effects yet- but I actually have IMPROVED in my health and nervous system. No more muscle twitches, no more stuttering issues, headaches, much healthier gums, no metal taste in my mouth, no more dizzy spells (that used to really annoy me)

the Porcelain /composite material the dentist used still has lasted over a year- he set them in with lasar-- not glue. I can chew as normal as ever.

There was an initial tooth sensitivity for a few weeks after each filling replacement, but then I simply chewed on the other side of my mouth til it healed. That was one reason I also liked getting my 8 fillings out gradually!

I believe you are experiencing the Mercury Dump that often happens. It is your body releasing old stores of mercury-- which is making you feel like horrible.

Keep chelating out, and hang in there! Russ and Laura mentioned how the detox/ healing process with mercury has the good days and the not so good days, but as you continue to chelate , it slowly gets better.

Removal of your last filling: Never had fillings, but from other sources because tests showed mercury coming out.
How you feel: worse

I chelated with weekly IV's (alternate EDTA / DMPS). Also with mineral supplements, probiotics, vitamins, EFA's etc. It was a lot of up and down, with some good times and some bad times. After about 12 months my health took a nosedive. Doc advised to take a break and then continue chelation. So I did, then continued chelation for 3-4 more months but felt worse than ever so I quit.

Now I am on the Marshall protocol. This is another long term treatment and it is too early to tell, but now I am sure that chronic inflammation is the issue, vs. mercury. I knew it as soon I had been on Benicar for a little while.

I have used similar devices .... Nutri-Energetics system and a couple other biofeedback devices. Some indicated some random bacteria / parasites.

Metagenomics research is finding how easily bacteria change form (pleomorphic), mutate, and even share DNA. This suggests it is a waste of time to identify which individual species. Rather, target the whole class of bacteria that evade the immune system with a cell wall deficient form.

Last of 7 fillings removed: January 06

Better: Significant improvment with gut health. I was able to kill a whole bunch of pathogens including 2 kinds of yeast, a nasty bacteria, and 3 parasites. Allergies significantly improved. I am no longer allergic to gluten, eggs, dogs, cats, pollen, 4 kinds of trees, 5 kinds of grasses, and ragweed. This has all been confirmed with GI testing and skin testing. Acne and eczema 95% gone.

Worse: Adrenals

I did not do the Huggins protocol. I took EDTA for 3 months and DMSA for 1 month. I think 250 mg of DMSA every other week was too much for me.
