Right, I know it can be done, but I lost the molar directly above this fully filled amalgam one several months ago due to a dentist that ignored my complaints of a toothache... he did other work which caused a horrible infection so it got pulled. It doesn't make sense to me to spend close to 750-1000 dollars on the one below which is now useless anyway.

Plus I have some concerns about that much plastic in my mouth. The dentist here is suppose to be great, he's also very expensive. He wants 475.00 for a first visit. I was already in there once, I went and did allergy testing like he requested... that cost quite a bit, and zirconia, as I had requested for replacements, wasn't even on the list of tested materials and I tested allergic to all of the flowable materials.

It's kind if sad that dentists think they shouild be the highest paid people in town. They charge more than most doctors for an office visit, and they do generally crappy work if you figure in that most any material they use in your mouth is poisonous.

Maybe your dentist is more affordable. Was he a 'biological' dentist or a regular one? What city are you in?
