Went to the hospital today to see my anesthesiologist for preadmission, I get admitted the day of surgery, cutbacks, you know. They asked me what prescription drugs I was using and I said none...she was taken aback to say the least. Then ahe asked if I was taking any vitamins, and I said yes and also some herbal supplements...she looked totally aghast!!! She said, "Oh no, that could be bad for surgical implications, you better stop them right away...only 100mg of vitamin C." I guess it goes against the grain not to take prescription drugs, but Heaven forbid if you take natural herbal supplements. Go figure!!!
I will only be in 1 or 2 nights and will keep you all posted.
All prayers welcome!!!
Best love, Sandi xoxo

Hi Sandi, thanks for keeping us posted on how things are going. I will pray for you! Keep up the good diet, even if the supplements are restricted (which is a bugger).
You've really been put through the mincer to say the least. I admire you very much and hope and pray that this will oneday be behind you. I wish that for everybody on here for their own differing health issues.
luv Bex.

hmmm... my mom was an RN, she was also one of the generally most unhealthy people I have ever known. Not bedridden sick, just numerous ongoing complaints, passed away a few years ago. She was of that anti-herbal mentality., till she was on her deathbed but then it was too late. She drank a lot too. Lots of nurses do btw, Be careful in there. I would take the vitamin C and other good vitamins with me if I were you. Have it handy for after the surgery.

Hey Sandi hope all goes well for you. I love the love heart by the way.
Interesting what you were saying about how they felt about you taking supplements and herbs etc. I just attended a mainstream paediatrics dietetics seminar and honestly I was so flabbergasted by some of their comments.
One of the speakers was a paediatrics oncology dietitian. She said that their primary focus was to keep the weight on the children no matter what. They encourage the kids to eat ANYTHING they want. The fattier, sweeter the better. So the kids eat until their hearts are content (albeit with some bad nausea days due to the chemo and radiotherapy). They go into remission, go home, back to school and end up obese and then end up back in the hospital system. They have been conditioned to eat everything and anything they like without any focus on nutrition whatsoever. Mind boggling to say the least.
This same presenter spoke of these 'wierdo' parents who were trying to add this crazy looking red stuff to their kids (with leukemia) parenteral feed. It turns out that this 'red stuff' was beetroot crystals. Or the 'frightful looking green stuff' which turns out to be spirulina or chlorella etc. Holy dooly, at least these parents are actively trying to help their kids. They don't need to be shunned by the medical profession.
Sandi I think that you will probably teach them a thing or two while you are in there. Take care and all the best.

Got home yesterday, still have lots of pain...they cut out the ovaries that were 4 times their normal size and a "cake" of cancer that measured 6" x 4" x 1" from the omentum, which is the protective fat layer over the intestines. They couldn't get it all though so I will have to do more chemo. I hope that they can give me enough quality time to make it all worthwhile.
More chemo next week, I have no idea how I am going to make it thru that. My resolve almost left me on Sunday, the pain was so bad I almost passed out going for my first walk around the halls. But each day gets a little better with alot of prayer from my forum friends all around the world.
Thanks guys, will write more soon.
Best love, Sandi xoxo

Sandi, welcome home, dearheart! People all over the planet have been on their knees in prayer for you. Surgery is grueling, anesthesia makes you feel gross for weeks, painful healing, and also chemo -- it's alot to deal with. But just look at what you've accomplished so far -- you're a victor.
Try and get as much sleep and rest that you can.
Love you to bits, Sharon
