Hi everyone,
My Dr has given me DMSA which i started taking last week, i felt horrible, like i was going to die. I checked on this forum and discovered that i should maximum only be taking 25mg according to the protocol. I called my doctor to ask how many mg's each capsule was. She said she's given me 250mg per capsule, of which i must take 2 capsules 3 times a day. i though she must be mistaken so called back the next day anonomously and asked her associate, aagain, 250mg's 3 times per day. Is there any way this could be good for me.
I cant seem to find another way of getting DMSA in a hurry except from her so do you think i could divide the capsules into 5 or 10 parts and take it like that. or is this just stupid.
thanks guys

no wonder you felt like that! yep your dr must be crazy!'
as I recall 500mg DMSA is a dose that you use for provocative tests, so that is way over the safety threshold. I think no one should take more than 100mg in a single dose, best 25/50mg in multipile doses, preferable according to cutler's protocole.

I'm more and more convinced that Cutler's protocol is the way to go. You have a lot of people on it in a visible way: the Yahoo groups "adult metal chelation" and "frequent dose chelation."
So you can see what's going on pretty well. Most people seem to do well on the low dose, continuous protocol.
Conversely, the huge dose, randomly timed methods appear to cause substantial problems. So theoretically Cutler's protocol makes sense, and in reality it appears to work as well.

Your doctor is doing a typical protocol that many doctors do for their mercury patients and this is why Andy Cutler has had to deal with so many injured patients. Some do ok, some are devastated by it. It's not something you should ever risk yourself on and the amount and dosage is pretty outrageous.
If you want to divide the ones you already have up, that might work. It might be pretty tedious though. You might do better getting future DMSA online instead so you can get the lower dose capsules and make it much easier on yourself.
Some people can start on 50 mg - 100 mg, and according to Andy that is still pretty low, but most are safer starting on 25 mg or less and seeing how they go from there. It's up to you should you wish to start at 50 mg or 100 mg.
But the main thing is taking it every 4 hours around the clock. That is even more important. It's annoying to have to set an alarm to wake up, but it is worth it. You do that for about 3 days straight (or up to a week). Then you take a break for about the same amount of time and then repeat and so on until you reduce your blood and tissue of mercury.
Later you can add or use ALA (alpha lipoic acid) when you're ready.
I do not believe the method your doctor is using could be good for you, I believe it could be dangerous to you. It will likely redistribute more mercury into more sensitive areas, brain being one. Some people have ended up almost crippled by wrong chelation and that is an example of what NOT to do.

Is it safe to divide up DMSA and ALA capsules? Has anybody ever tasted these in their powder form? DMSA sounds like a full on chemical. Sounds a bit scary to me putting that straight into your mouth. Actually I feel really stupid just saying that. If it is safe enough to take and let it run throughout your body, then surely it is safe enough as a powder in your mouth. Sorry just rambling now..

If you are looking for something to swish in your mouth as an immediate chelator for amalgams or something, chlorella is usually used for that. Just guessing but seems you could use DMSA, swish with a it of water, spit out after a couple minutes. Chlorella is cheaper that's all and works great for that. I gargle with sometimes it too.
The 250 mgs 3x/day sounds high to me too but I don't know hat your actual problem is. Mercury poisoning? For serious poisoning, my DR chelated me via IV, oral DMSA for home use afterwards only.
eat lots of fiber to keep your bowels moving with that much DMSA going in. drink plenty of clean water.

Hi Rachie, there is no issue with the powder at all. Ive had it in my mouth and nothing. ANd I am very sensitive to anything and severely for a long period of time. So that should reassure you. The only issue is the ALA can burn a bit on the tongue if I recall.
Other than that, they are fine. DMSA is used on children to chelate them and it is ok for the most part. Some do find they dont tolerate the DMSA itself, but mostly it is the mercury being moved that is the issue.

I'm an example of that, nervous breakdown, Fibromyalgia, Chronic Fatigue sundrome and depression after bad chelation methods. Doing it properly now and I feel amazing. Mercury is a funky toxin, it will ruin your life in ways you can't even comprehend.
