Hi all, Ok I have fasted sugar and caffeine and all the other bad stuff for 21 days now. Do I feel better? Maybe a little calmer. And depressed, non motivated, sleepy, brain fog, antisocial, easily frustrated. Well I caved in and had some chai green tea W/ caffiene and felt a whole lot better yesterday and today. Then later I got my DMSA in the mail. So I started chelating even though I had the tea and a little diet coke (I know its bad) but at least I talked again and smiled. Is a liitle chai green tea once a day ok until I can get relief from the DMSA? Or should I just stick it out again? I suppose it'll be much easier to tell how much better Im feeling if I were caffeine free. Im just so tired of being tired and depressed. Also, is there a problem taking the DMSA if I have already eaten? So far 25mgs every 3-4 hrs seems to be just fine for me. God help me, I need prayers. Thank all of you for your feedback and support, you are great!!! Diane

Hi Diane,
No, there is no problem to take DMSA if you had already eaten. Just stick to taking DMSA on time, every 4 hours, and you should be fine. As for caffeine and sugar, they are both highly addictive. If you were hooked on both before, then suddenly stopping them would make you crave them and cause all the withdrawals associated with addiction. An addition of caffeine into you system would disrupt the chelation. I suppose that that would have you chelate longer, which is already a long process. Try exercise instead of caffeine. This could lift your mood.

Hi Diane, I would not beat yourself up over having one a day of that tea!! I used to have tea all day and chelated the mercury regardless. I think though it is better to have herbal tea, even if the herbal tea may have some caffeine, just keep it low if you can.
sugar is the worst of these. It'll feed the yeast inside your body, which will then give off more of it's toxins inside your gut, then the liver and interferring with healing and detoxing.
I would pat yourself on the back with what you have achieved. It is not easy at all to give up addictive substances and takes a long time to start turning things around. I think if you need something like that tea to help you and give you a boost as you get off the sugars etc, then all power to you. The diet coke? I'd watch that becuase of the asparatame (hope I have spelt that right), very bad stuff.
It is hard I know. It does take time to get these things out of your system, plus as you detox and heal, things can get worse temporarily. If you need at least something to help, then take it, or you will cave in much worse.
Some people find they may need to do the diet more slowly. So they may need to eat a little fruit or grain at first, until they can eliminate those as well. Once someone is well enough, they can bring them back in the diet again on a limited basis. Doing too much at once can definitely cause a lot of symptoms. And some people really get hit hard with fatigue, depression, all sorts of issues.
Great if you can hang in there and go through it, and the bit of tea is not a sin!!!
