My dad's a doctor, so I had the full panoply of traditional medicine and dental. They thought they were doing the right thing. Vaccinations and silver fillings were just the proper way to insure health.

By comparison, my friend's hippie parents refused to have her get silver fillings, or vaccinations or even use pesticides in their Florida home (very rare down there, apparently). I only wish my parents had been so enlightened.
