The tripeptide Glutatione bears a sulphur binding site (via cysteine) so potentially has the same effects as any mercury chelator, i.e. making mercury symptoms return. It's excellent for mercury detox.

Milk Thistle induces liver detox so it will throw off numerous toxins which can cause a myriad of symptoms, some similar to mercury, others not.

Interestingly, Chinese medicine associates the liver with anger and I have seen this anger manifest in people on Milk Thistle.

Nevertheless, it is an excellent liver detox tool.
