Hi, you should not be taking alpha lipoic acid at all. First off, you have amalgams. Next, your blood levels of mercury will still be too high. Alpha lipoic acid (ALA) chelates the brain and other organs. It can also allow more mercury INTO the brain if the person still has not reduced their other areas yet (blood/tissue).
The doses you are on are not only very high, but the way you are taking ALA may result in even more redistribution of mercury. A biochemist believes that if a person does not take ala every 3-4 hours around the clock, it is very risky because the blood levels of ALA need to be kept consistant in the blood in order to keep the movement and removal of mercury more even , safe and effective. If inconsistant dosing is done (anything longer than about 4-5 hours), the movement of mercury can become erratic.
I would seriously suggest stopping the ALA and getting yourself to a good reputable biologic dentist and getting your amalgams removed.
You wuld be wise not to use ALA until 3 months have passed after your last amalgam removal. The 3 month period is where your body will be reducing the blood levels. It will do this naturally, but people find they get a lot of help by using DMSA (available online). DMSA chelates the blood and tissue of mercury and in some cases it has even cured people of mercury poisoning. So it is very effective. It is safe becuase it does not cross the blood brain barrier effectively like ALA and can be used early on.
ALA is the main chelator and is usually essential to chelation, but must be used at the right time.
