I am now 41/2 months post TDR. My chemical sensitivity has been getting worse. Does anyone have any advise other than avoidance which I do the best I can, but it has gotten to where everything bothers me. I'm currently taking magnesium, B1, B6, zinc, milk thistle, algin, Tyler's mercury deotx, glutathione, flaxseed oil. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

As a "quick-fix", tou may want to try stopping Milk Thistle. In my experience, this powerful liver cleanser has thrown many into "symptom-city". It's excellent later in the detox cycle but can be really difficult if taken too early. It makes perfect sense that your problem is potentially liver-related considering your symptoms. You may want to try going off it for 2-4 weeks and see if there is a change. The bottom line here is (most likely) that your liver phase I metabolism is faster than phase II. If you have the the Cutler book Amalgam Illness: Diagnosis and Treatment, look on page 40 and 41 for a detailed explaination of this and it's relationship to MCS and specifically how this is related to the liver. On page 40, he has methods to inhibit phase I (which should help significantly) and on page 43, he has a chart showing a number of things you can do to increase phase II (which should help significantly).

Wow, thanks Russ. I never would of thought about the milk thistle as I thought that I was needing to support my liver since I had all these chemicals. I will stop it for a while and see. I haven't read Cutler's book only Dr. huggins'. Maybe I'll see about getting it too. Thanks

Milk Thistle is excellent for the liver, but you definitely can have side-effects when using it.
My business partner took it soon after her mercury removal and had severe mood swings. I had to kindly ask that she stop taking it for awhile so we could get along again. Otherwise, she's the best business partner one could hope to have.

Does Glutatione bring on side effects like Milk thistle or is it different?

When you have multiple chemical sensitivity it means that your Phase I liver detox pathway is fast. You can slow this down by taking Niacinamide, 500 mgs. 3x per day.
I have this same problem and this works for me.

Sandra, You slow down your phase I as opposed to spending up your phase 2. Does this mean that you feel that your phase 1 is too fast? Also, what does taking the niacinimide do for you?

Does Glutatione bring on side effects like Milk thistle or is it different? The tripeptide Glutatione bears a sulphur binding site (via cysteine) so potentially has the same effects as any mercury chelator, i.e. making mercury symptoms return. It's excellent for mercury detox. Milk Thistle induces liver detox so it will throw off numerous toxins which can cause a myriad of symptoms, some similar to mercury, others not. Interestingly, Chinese medicine associates the liver with anger and I have seen this anger manifest in people on Milk Thistle. Nevertheless, it is an excellent liver detox tool.

Niacinamide is a B vitamin which happens to slow down phase two detoxification pathways and thus alleviates some of the chemical sensitivity problems.

Sorry I made a mistake. Niacinamide slows down Liver Detox Phase I, not phase 2.
