I've had amalgam fillings in my mouth since I was a kid, because I ate a lot of candy. I'm in my 20's now. I had the fillings placed by a dentist when I was in 3rd grade (how many are in my mouth, I do not know -- I think 3), and had no problems. I moved back to my home town and he put a composite white layer over the fillings to make them look white.
I gradually started to get stomatitis and "geographical tongue" as my dentist called it. He said it was normal and to see my doctor about it if it bothered me. That was probably back in 2000.
I then started to get a rash above my belly button from the metal belt buckle around this same time in 2000/2001. It got really bad, I went into a dermatologist, and she gave a creme and told me to avoid wearing metal belt buckles completely.
In late 2004 I went into the dentist to get a cavity filled. In the process, the dentist drilled into an amalgam filling and didn't use any safety procedures at all. He put a composite filling in its place. I had a metal taste in my mouth, and it hurt for about a month, and I then started to get sharp pains in my abdomen for about 3 months early this year, 2005. It was terrible.
I didn't have health insurance, and I went into ERs it was so bad, and they basically said it was pleurisy and other infammation -- nothing to worry about, and to take anti-inflammatories. A couple of months ago I started to get an extremely bad headache, which turned into the same burning sensation, but in my head. My joints started to pop, and I had really bad anxiety. I was constipated and had bad GI problems, my kidneys hurt, etc. I went into doctors, finally got health insurance, and all tests came back fine. I even got a CT scan done of my head and abdomen which found nothing. Doctors finally gave up hope in me, and my family started to think I had a mental problem.
As of the past month, I started to realize that my problem could've been due to the dentist visit. I've been starting to see white dots, and I've had fine tremors and some muscle spasms. I went into a neurologist and he thinks I might have MS and he ordered multiple MRIs.
In the past 2 weeks I have finally looked into heavy metal "detox" as you are all calling it, and I've been taking selenium and ALA. ALA gave me a terrible headache, but the selenium and vitamin C seems to help. Vitamin C especially with the constipation.
My girlfriend is finally starting to believe me about this, but I'm worried I'm going to get a neurological condition. The headaches are very weird and scare me. The dentist in my area (not the same one where I had the filling drilled into) says that I need to get a compatiblity test done to see what is okay to put in my mouth, and I could be spending $1000+ going up as much as multiple thousands to get these removed, and all they'd do is use a rubber dam, replace them, while on a respirator. I can't afford this with all the medical bills I currently have.
Well, I don't know what to do. My health insurance coverage may be lost soon here, and a lot of friends and family think I'm going nuts. I finish up school in the fall, but I'm afraid I'm going to have severe MS symptoms by then.
I could go in and get the MRI, but from what I've read, if I have Multple Chemical Sensitivity -- at least to heavy metals like nickel (belt buckle problem) and the amalgam fillings (problems presently after removal) then getting an MRI will just move the metals around and cause more problems. If I go in and get an MRI, however, it may show that I do have nerve damage and I may be able to get on some sort of government assistance, and there'd be physical proof that something is wrong with me.
My sister also can't wear metal jewelry, and my mom says that even when I was a kid she had to put me in cloth diapers because my skin was so sensitive to the material.
What should I do? Doctors don't believe me because they think it's far fetched. On the 'net it seems people who have this problem are often thrown in the "psycho" bin and that's that. Well, seeing as I don't have coverage, if I do get that bad and go psycho, I'll be in some state hospital, which will be lovely. I don't want to die twitching or psycho, or people thinking that I am.

I'm very sorry to hear your story. You're in a tough position but the good news is, you have symptoms that are 100% typical for mercury toxicity so you may have found the root of the problem. Don't be discouraged that people don't believe you. In the next few years, millions of people around the globe (especially Americans) will discover that they have been poisoned by mercury and copper from their dental fillings and from vaccines. I read your entire post and the first thing I would strongly suggest is that you do not take any mercury chelators. This includes eating suphur foods like eggs, or supplements like MSM or ALA. Secondly, (as stated above) stop taking ALA. I also got very serious headaches from it and later found out why. It can redistribute mercury in the brain and the research I've done says it should not be taken with fillings in. Even after fillings are out, you should be taking other protective supplements if you choose to take ALA. Third, to protect yourself, take a few protective supplements (some of them you're already on, but I'll post them anyway), including: Algin . This is an awesome supplement that helps prevent the redistribution of heavy metals and is my favorite supplements related to heavy metal toxicity. People often see a reduction in symptoms within the first hour. For me, it take less than 30 minutes. Vitamin C in the form of bioflavonoids- An average-sized male should be good with 5000 mg per day (5000, not 500?5 grams) so long as you have a good liver. I take this: NSP Citrus Bioflavonoids Vitamin E with Selenium - Antioxidant, offers many protections. I take this: E Complete with Selenium Avoid these: Caffiene, processed sugar, NutraSweet, processed foods. Eat mostly raw, organic vegetables. If you're and "O" blood type, adding protein into your diet would be beneficial. Organic vegetables typically have 10 to 100 times (not percent) more minerals than non-organic as per a University of Florida study I have. The ultimate goal?of course?is to get the fillings removed... safely. The composite layer that was recently applied may be contributing to your symptoms because it may contain aluminum which may multiply mercury symptoms or methacrylate which can be harmful to the liver and kidneys. The next step once your taking protective supplements and eating a good diet is to work on the specific ailments your suffering with. For example, the stomatitis your suffering sounds like the Coxsackie virus. The supplements on this page may help: Stomatitis Supplements If you're strong enough to take control of your own health, I would highly recommend the best I've ever found on this subject called Amalgam Illness: Diagnosis and Treatment by Dr. Andrew Cutler . This book provides in-depth information about these issues and solutions that you can implement, or you can loan the book to your Doctor and he can design a program for you. It's very unfortunate that Doctors are not well trained in this area. You must find one who is or you'll have to do it yourself with help from people on forums like this one. If you haven't already, please take a moment to read my story about mercury toxicity: http://herballure.com/mmsPerhaps you'll be able to related to part of it. Whatever you decide to do, know that this subject of mercury toxicity is fast becoming one of the most important health issues in the world. Please let is know if there is anything we can do to help. I hope this helps and best of luck to you.

Thanks, Russ.
Here's some additional info. I went to a local dentist and had my do x-rays of my mouth. Supposedly all of the fillings in my mouth, currently, are composite, and the filling(s) I thought I had are removed. I called up my original dentist asking them what type of filling was in my mouth originally on my visit late last year, and they said it was a composite. So, here I'm wondering, either they're lying to try to cover their butts and they realize their mistake (which might just be paranoia on my part), or I have a chemical reaction to these composite fillings, or both.
I'm scheduled to go get 3 MRIs done next Tuesday. 1 of the brain, and two of the different parts of the spine. I'm worried because I don't want to get diagnosed with something like MS for sure if the results show I have nerve damage, but at the same time, I want proof to show that there's something wrong with me so that my family, girfriend, etc will at least have some sort of sympathy for me. Right now they simply think I'm a nutjob and that it's "all in my head".
I've already cancelled the MRIs once -- I'm just worried that they may do harm if I do indeed have mercury toxicity.
Following the MRIs I have an appointment with my hometown doc as well, and I'm not sure if he's going to believe my wholw "filling" theory. I guess it doesn't help that I ate probably ~50 cans of tuna around the mouths surround this... :-(
Also to note, I guess, is that I was on a strict low carb, lots-o-aspartame diet around the same time. I've read that there is potential issues with this artificial sweetner, yet at the same time, I read that it's bogus.

I'm glad to see you're working on your health and on finding answers. That's great. Please keep us posted and keep notes coming. Don't be discouraged that people don't believe you about this mercury issue. It's very real and one day not too far away, everyone will know about it. This is the very reason I put this caption on the writeup for a book: "If you don't know about mercury poisoning yet, you will... eventually!"The book is located here: Amalgam Illness: Diagnosis and Treatment by Dr. Andrew Cutler Also... NutraSweet is well-known to produce MS-type symptoms in some people. The threat is definitely not bogus. If you ever really want to see the hard information, check this out. It's honestly one of the best videos I've ever seen related to alternative health issues and medical coverups: Sweet Misery: A Poisoned World Quotes Concerning NutraSweet"That's what happened with several people working for the FDA...If they passed Aspartame, literally, they were promised great jobs when they finished with FDA."Arthur Evangelista, Former FDA Investigator "...three FDA senior scientists...met with the Commissioner [of the FDA] ...and begged him not to approve NutraSweet!"James Turner Esq., Consumer Attorney "The other 10% [of NutraSweet] is...Methyl Ester, which, as soon as it gets swallowed becomes free methyl alcohol?methanol?wood alcohol, which is a poison?a real poison."H.J. Roberts, M.D. "They had animal tissues that had obvious tumors in it that were reported normal." "In my estimation, there was an effort to cover up what was being found so that they [Searle] could get approval."Russell L. Blaylock, M.D., Neurosurgeon "Had I seen the chemical formula of this product I would never have touched it. The poisonous effect of methyl alcohol and its methyl esters are well known."Jim Bowen, M.D. "Virtually all...independent studies...did identify one type of problem or another with Aspartame." "...the industry-sponsored studies were set up in such a way that the results could be predicted ahead of time..."Ralph Walton, Psychiatrist

Our local station did a similar story last year (almost identical in format).
Isn't it amazing that the ADA defends mercury amalgams. Oh! Then again, perhaps this is why...
According to a Hal Huggins radio interview, the ADA make about $50 million in royalties from the manufacture of mercury-based fillings per year. I don't know if this is true, but if anyone has documentation on it, I'd love to see it.
