We have been married for 20 years and for 19 of those years have not used contraceptives. As far as I know, I've never been pregnant. I was diagnosed with severe endometriosis and have had 6 laparoscopies. However, the condition did not appear to physically interfere with conception nor pregnancy. We tried invitro 6 years ago, and were told we had an 80% chance of success. It did not work, and the doctor was baffled and could offer us no explanation. I am 44 years old, have not had symptoms of endometriosis for several years. I would love to get any information that might help us... I don't have much time left... Thanks!

Hi,

Are you in a position to be able to try a second round of IVF?

They say that women who don't achieve a preganncy on the first IVF attempt frequently do on the 2nd or 3rd try--which is why 3 to 4 tries are recommended (after the 3rd or 4th failure, the rates of subsequent succes plummet). But maybe you already know all this...

I sympathize with your situation as I also had an unsuccessful IVF experience. We have decided to try again, though.

Best of luck!

OP

P.S. Something else to consider: If you have healthy eggs and your partner has healthy sperm, there is also the possiblity of having your baby carried by a healthy surrogate carrier. That option's expensive, too, though.
