I recently spoke with a medical doctor who specializes in sleep medicine, and he said that SIDS is virtually unknown in countries where children sleep with their parents. The belief is that the children's breathing is regulated by either feeling or hearing their parents' breathing. Even when the children have grown and sleep in the same room with their parents (as in Japan), the children's breathing is still regulated by the sound of their parents. It's interesting that I've heard so much opposition in this country to having an infant/child sleep in the same bed with their parents.

I'm surprised with that as well. It seems that the media has instilled fear in our minds about people who actually share a bed with their young children, although it's been that way through most of history, probably for financial (living standards) reasons.

I'm confused. What do you mean for financial reasons?

I just mean that they didn't have enough money for multiple beds (or materials to make the beds) or enough room in their houses for a bed for every family member.

Thats Interesting, ((( Smiles )))
My babies slept in their padded car seats. It was like a carrier carrying type and they sleep much better and preferred it to sleeping in a crib/bed sleeping upright. In fact they liked sleeping in the front room in car seats too as well as in their cribs in car seats so we had to take turns sleeping on the coach for awhile. We tried the crib but they wanted to sleep in the car seats instead. They also slept next to us pulled their day bed and carriers next to us for awhile and held them to sleep alot at night. Thats what saved their life because they both went through some kind of reaction that was like sids and effected their breathing etc.. Went to the doctor about it could not figure out what it was so I thought maybe it was the formula they were on.. Milk based so asked him if we could change it to soy and after awhile it got better they got through it but now that I look back on it they were drinking the formula for awhile before that plus breast fed at the same time too and they had their vaccinations around that time and it probably was a reaction to those vaccines but the doctor never brought that up and we did not know what additives where in those vaccines and that they could be causing this.. We believed they were safe so I couldn't figure out what it could be but the formula they were drinking.. Now I know it wasen't as safe as what we were lead to believe that all those additives heavy metals where in those shots and injected into little babies.. Live and learn never again not even a flu shot don't trust them anymore I feel like I've been deceived and they had put my babies toddlers at risk and my children have autism and then one with Chairi now and I do blame those vaccines for all I have gone through my eyes have been opened and that makes sense to me too...!!
