the modifilan company (modifilan.com) claims that taking their product for chelation, 6 capsules 2 times a day for 4 months will make you clean. The main ingredient is sodium alginate. I wonder if this would work with algin as well. Russ, what do you think is this realistic? Sounds too good to be true <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" />

Just my personal opinion, but I would say not in a million years. The mercury has to be pushed out and released by the body. How deep it is depends, you can clear the blood in a few months but the organs, nervous system, brain etc will take a long time. Likewise you cannot even clear the gut out but remove mercury on a continous basis.

I think it's too good to be true. I do believe that some people can overcome most symptoms in 6 months. I did. Laura did. But to be "clean"—assuming that means mercury-free—not likely. Algin is sodium alginate. It does not chelate. It absorbs, so it does not "clean you out". It only prevents reabsorption of mercury via the intestines, which is critical for mercury toxic persons and during detox. Hope this helps.

100% clean is not possible but here is a story of a man that reduced his mercury levels from 80ppm to 3 ppm in a few months using only brown seaweed. Is this hype or realistic?

IIRC the modifilan people claim that they modify the Alginate so that it is absorbed.

Modify the alginate. Do they tell how they modify it?

I also googled around to see if there was more info on Modifilan, and I found a link to an interview done with the guy who supposedly makes it: http://www.newstarget.com/rr-oceanmedicine.htmlUnfortunately, you have to type in your email address to get the download link to the PDF. I hate sites like that.

WRT to Pectasol and how they modify it, the Dr. who worked on developing it has a website. I'm sure you could email him Russ and ask him how its any different than normal algin... In fact I'm not sure that its even desirable to absorb the stuff, if what people want to use it for is just soaking up what cycles through the gut. Would be interesting to find out though.

NSP is a quality product, and from what I can see they are more reasonably priced in their Algin than Modifilan. Just a thought.
