I've been reading alot of posts on the forum about cavitations and wanted to pass along some information that I believe is worth looking into.

I've researched the damage that cavitations can have on your entire system and have spoken to my biological dentist about this at my last visit. I am in the process of having 13 of my amalgam fillings replaced and have had all four wisdom teeth pulled over 20 years ago.

He has been practicing biological dentistry for quite some time now and is a very "state of the art" dentist. He is one of the few that use oxygen/ozone therapy to kill bacteria in your gums. In fact, my very first amalgam removal turned out to be a potential problem. The filling was so deep that it had decayed all the way down into the gum line. He told me he would treat it with an oxygen/ozone injection and that he couldn't be 100% sure that the decay wasn't too far gone so much so that I may loose the tooth. The oxygen/ozone injection worked and after three weeks my tooth was completely back to normal with no problems.

Anyway, about the cavitations. He said there is an ultrasound device that some biological dentists have that can find cavitations that is highly accurate. In doing it this way, you can be sure exactly if you have bacteria under there. He doesn't have this device himself, but told me that he will send me to a dentist in the area who does so I can be sure when I am through with the removal process. He also mentioned how effective oxygen/ozone therapy will be in treating any cavitations if found.

I wanted to pass this along so anyone else who has this problem may give a better look into this.

I found some information on it on the web. This dentist who discusses it is not my dentist, but what he says matched just what my dentist recommended. The website is: www.wholebodymed.com Click on "library and education" and you can search many articles on there -- there's one on cavitations and one even on oxygen/ozone therapy. I found the site to be very informative.

What you're talking about is the cavitat machine invented by Bob Jones. Yeah, I have come across this and I have found people that say it is the best thing to heal from cavitations.
But it may also be hard to find. Sometimes a sure-fire way to heal cavitations is just to open the hole up anyway and see what comes out! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazy.gif" alt="" /> That
s how I had mine done and it turned out well, U can say.
And thanks for the link. It is very informative.

My biological dentist sent me to someone to check for cavitations. They use a body scan called an electrodermal screening. This is some trype of computer screening of trhe whole body. What was strange was the person he sent me to is not a dentist but some type of wholistic practitioner. Can anyone tell me if they know anything about this screening and if it is accurate? It does not sound like it is the Cavitat machine. My dentist told me that he wants first to detect if I have cavitations before we do anything about it.

By the way, I finally made my appointment for my first amalgam removals- June 5th! Thank you all for giving me the courage to do this.

Andrea,
Hi I had ED testing done for cavitations, and filling compatability as well as some other health related issues.
I was told I had 3 cavitations, l moderate, and 2 mild, as well as some composit incompatibility.
I was so convinced, I set up an appt with Dr. Shankland , a 10 hour trip to have them confirmed and surgery. I was also going to get my TMJ looked at as my jaw was locked shut.
He fixed my locked jaw, I instantly felt so much better. I insisted on the cavitat scan as I was told by the ED testing that I had cavitations. Dr. Shankland looked at my panorex and taking all the info of my exam with him and said, I did not have any cavitations.
I was so taken back because I trusted the ED testing.
So just to be sure I had Dr. S do one portion of my mouth with the supposed moderate cavitation and sure enough everything looked great. He said I had great blood flow, etc, etc, etc.
So that is my experience with ED testing. I wouldn't really trust it.
One thing it was correct in was the compatability testing. It had the same results as with the Clifford blood tests for compatable dental materials.

Thanks for sharing your experience Veggiemom. That is disappointing. I wish I could go to Dr. Shankland - it is so far away. Maybe if I test using the ED and it comes out positive I will think about going out there. But from your story, I don't even know if it's worth spending money on the ED. Is the Cavitat an ultrasound machine that measures blood flow. It's interesting because I went to Dr. Ira Klemons, who is the president of the American Craiofacial Association (or something similar) and he used an ultrasound when assessing my TMJ a couple of years ago. When he did this, you could hear that there was no blood flow in the jaw area - but of course nothing was mentioned about cavitations. I got a zillion trigger point injections along with wearing an appliance and got somewhat better but it all came back and now is worse than ever. I feel like there is bacteria trapped in the upper jaw area because that is my site of all of my reactivity - it tightens up when I take anything that I am hypersensitive to. Does anyone know of anyone in the NJ area they would recommend who is experienced with cavitations and uses the cavitat?

Thanks.
