Prior to being diagnosed with mercury poisoning in 2004,and then learning all the possible symptoms of it,my thought was that all of the wierd stuff I was going through were being caused by compressed nerves in my neck.
The right side of my neck was numb,I would get severe cracking(it is called crepitis),plus I would get wild shooting pains out to my shoulders.
I saw 2 spine surgeons plus visited Mayo Clinic twice to consider a 4 level cervical fusion. Fortunately the doctors were smart enough to advise me that though my MRI's showed severe stenosis they did not feel that surgery would relieve the wide array of symptoms I described.
Here, though is the best part, once I had my amalgams replaced in July 2004 all the neck symptoms reduced 90% within a month. I have not had to take a pain killer since then. I will still occasionally get a crack or a short period of numbness.
I think in my case the mercury was getting stored in my joints.

Good luck with your pursuit.

I had it really bad and after getting my fillings out, it went right away. Although I notice if I wear too much silver or gold jewelry, I get some strange neck and shoulder pain and stiffness, I have to keep it to a minimum. Could it be some sort ot galvanic reaction maybe????

I had the cracking neck issue quite bad before my amalgams were removed. Even just turning my head, I could hear small cracking noises.

Several days after my amalgam removal, I noticed that it was completely gone, which was shocking because I had lived with it so long that I didn't associated it as a mercury issue.

Another interesting thing that disappeared was cracking joints. I normally would crack all my fingers every hour or two. After the removal, it didn't happen more than twice per day, if that.

These were just 2 of many symptoms that went away after my amalgam removal that I never associated with mercury before, so they are not even mentioned in my story.

HI there,

I see that you all have had the same problems with mercury and a stiff neck. I think that this may also be caused by cavitations. I think this could be an even greater issue than mercury toxicity. I have battled with it for quite some time and I have finally gotten my issue sorted out.
Now I am cured completely of this problem. It just goes to show you how safe dentistry really is.

I have had a stiff neck ,pain in my shoulders and a feeling of pressure in the back of my head for as long as I can remmember. These symtoms are probably due to hg vaporizing from my fillings. The head pressure might be hg crossing the blood brain barrier.
Bex's link to Bob Marshall at phpure says that composite fillings also cause neck and shoulder stiffness and pain. Bob Marshall PhD says that replacing composites and amalgam with "low fusing ceramic" fillings inlays and crowns eliminates these symtoms. He says that although most people don't initially react to composites ,eventually they have allergic and other reactions.According to Marshall, low fusing ceramics are more stable than composites and are of the same hardness as teeth, unlike composites which are much softer than teeth. He also says that composites readily leak their their toxic chemical soup whereas low fusing ceramics are relatively stable and non reactive.
In any case, the constant neck stiffness and headache is making me mad as a hatter.Neck stiffness may contribute to the light headed feeling many of us experience. When I was in my twenties, I went to a chiropractor for the neck pain.I know Elvis told me not to tell people don't do this or that I reccomend you not go to chiropractors for neck pain . Chiropractic neck adjustment is the leading cause of stroke in people under fifty.

hey, jill, don't listen to me , no one else does, its actually nice to hear something personal about you, sorry about the neck pain, drag ain't it? I don't go to chiropractors either, cranial osteopathy is a different thing altogether, no satisfying crunch but supposed to be better for ya. Whoa,Sage ,I got a real fear of cavitations, maybe this is my prollem, did ya have any other symptoms? I have no merc. so was hoping my neck symptoms would be gone with my wind.

I don't mean to scare you but cavitations can be a real bummer. I had chronic fatigue, anxiety and low stress-coping ability. And that's not even mentioning the strange aches and pains that i got while having them. But now that's healed up! Its' definitely something to look into if you are symptomatic.

I would mention about cracking joints...

This can eventually lead to pain in the joints.

Mercury interferes with Vitamin C and therefore can lead to joint deterioration. For this reason, mercury toxic persons should supplement healthy amounts of Citrus Bioflavonoids (Vitamin C) to prevent C-deficient diseases from cropping up later, like arthritis and spider veins, to name a few.

Of course, this does even touch upon the numerous functions that C plays in the body, including protecting your body from the oxidative effects of mercury.

Yes I've got the bad creaky neck and tight trapazoids. I've got bone spurs on my cervicals , and bad TMJ and multiple myofacial trigger points in my back. Every month or so I would wake up and wouldn't be able to move my neck, had intense pain. I would open the frig door and pop something in my neck. Nursing the babies would bring on intense neck pain as well as hoisting those blasted baby car seats around town. Been a problem for ten years now.

I had Dr. Shankland manually reset my condyles in my jaw when it was locked shut the beginning of this year and I have not had any problems with things getting out of place in my neck anymore. I still have the creaky neck and pain in my cervicals and blasts of pain in my occipital nerve that's shoots into my head anytime someone touches me in the "forbidden" C4 C5 area.

I had all my amalgams out the beginning of April this year and I don't notice any difference in my neck.
I was checked for cavitats by Dr. Shankland it was a negative, Praise God! and he made my back and neck situation a whole lot better my aligning my jaw.

I also found a wonderful osteopathic cranial Dr. in central NY which makes me feel great, (been only once though) I had only short term success with chiros, and cranialsacral therapists, and trigger pt. release, and NST, Bowen therapy.

HTH, just my experience with neck prollems, ( had to throw a "Elvis" in there;)

Take care all.

I'm tickled pink, Veg, but I guess thats also just ma natural color.I think there should be a national talk like Elvis day. (Here in England there is a national talk-like-a pirate day so why not? )
Welp, going to look more into the cavitations and phoned John Aherne , any good results with this guy anybody? Hope I end up like you Veg with a clean screen but then I guess I will also be 300 quidnunks poorer.

Sometimes I get stiff neck, too. It goes into my shoulders and sometimes down my back. For me, it sometimes has to do with redistribution symptomes. ( At least, that's when I seem to notice it.)

I had a tooth extracted. Dentists don't want to admit to cavitations because of all the hastle it brings them, unfortunately. However, the oral surgeon I went to does them and the bone underneath the tooth had to be cut back some. This guy was fantastic, though. He doesn't use anything in his office that is a known carcinogen. He promises no pain and I had none. It only cost me $500.00, which was cheap compared to getting the amalgams removed. I felt much better when he got that tooth out and it healed.
Elvis,
Shucks, if it means so much to ya, today will be my talk like Elvis day. Proley (might have spelt that wrong, Elvis. Sorry)
will annoy my teenager, but heck I'll chance it for ya. It's worth it cuz of the laughs we get from you.
