Someone out there has alot to answer for, don't they? my son is learning his letters, pre reading in school and they are making sounds for the letters. a few weeks ago he said
mmm...like for mc donalds
It took me a moment to realise what he meant,I could not believe it...He has only ever set foot inside a mc donalds once, just to use the bathroom... This really is infuriating. Children are subject to advertising through all kinds of ways and we cannot protect them from all of it...they have to live in this world and learn & listen and absorb all of this information, alot of it rubbish. They and we are so vulnerable.
Another great thing about people like Patrick Holford is that he makes positive suggestions for childrens meals that are still "tasty " and "fun" such as homemade stuff, sweet potato chips, homemade from scratch, organic chicken nuggets, fish fingers from homemade ingredients, but nothing ever ever deep fried or the like...
What you will usually find on restaurant menus"for children" chips fish fingers chicken nuggets pizza
all rubbish, without any doubt loaded with msg, and other crap drinks? fizzy crap, coke ,or if you think you are "looking after yourself and your loved ones "diet coke"7 up , would you like some aspartame to go with your msg? In Ireland if you order water instead you are guaranteed a tall glass of cloudy fluoridated tap water! It's so much fun to eat out!
If for any reson I had to go to a restaurant I would bring a snack for my son with me. And maybe order salad with no dressing, you can immediately taste if there is anything added onto it.
Now my son is nearly 5,I will have a party for him,as I did last year there will just be healthy snacks at the party. Alot of the kids have such a tatse for msg and sugar they turn their noses up at healthy food &treats. I am lucky with my son,I started off feeding him as healthily as possible and now he makes good choices. Unfortunately at other childrens parties they always offer all kinds of rubbish,I always sent my son off with a few healthy treats but,as he gets older I don't know how this will work out , He might be seen as odd or different or maybe the boy who has the weird healthfreak mother !!!???
I guess I have to reach some kind of balance where he has a great diet mostly and can then handle the odd bit of junkfood, like with his Dad or at a kids party ???
Anyhow, this is obviously a challenge for me and many many parents out there.and with food allergies and intolerances seemingly on the increase it is a minefield...
Russell Blaylock mentions how many of us have low/depleted levels of magnesium and magnesium has the ability to protect us from harmfull effects of neurotoxins,it's worth looking that up, like it is said prevention is better than cure.
