First experience was panic attacks and feeling of out of body at the age of 18,and a year or 2 after alot of dental work followed by more amalgam placenents a year later.
Ever since i had bouts of fatigue and excessive panic/anxiety attacks along with extreme unexplained fears.
Have all but one amalgam, and one root canaled tothe either replaced or extracted.
Currently at the beginning of the road to great health.

34 year old female. Noticed obvious problems by age 14 - 15 when braces were put on my teeth. Did not realise that braces increase the uptake of mercury and make mercury more toxic. I have had amalgams since about the age of 5 or 6.

That was the straw that broke the camel's back. was never the same again. Though things were not quite right before the braces, I was still happy and pretty healthy, good skin, and quite social. After the braces, I became ugly withdrawn, ill, depressed, horrible skin, blurred vision. obsessive thoughts, ritualistic behaviours, pale, antisocial, fearful, loss of interest in life, allergies, the whole deal.

Braces were removed, but little change. Only "mild" relief. Developed glandular fever by age 19, got even sicker. Went through doctors and was put on antidepressants constantly which never helped. Put through councelling which never helped. My life was hell, I cried and salivated a lot through toxicity, and suffered terrible symptoms daily. Suicidal thoughts and continual pain in the head and often had to lie in bed.

Finally found a doctor that put me on a candida diet. This helped at the time and enabled my body to excrete some toxins. Though I stunk badly from the toxins coming out of my pores, which made people around me quite sick to smell me at the time. It improved me at least enough to feel better. But I was still "poisoned".

I could not go off the diet at all without experiencing severe symptoms. Though the underlining condition remained regardless.

Had amalgams finally removed between ages 22 - 24. NOticed mild improvement during that time. But when the mercury from my tissues/organs decided to start coming out of me about a year after last removal, I then went through sheer hell on earth for years as my body attempted to eliminate the storage of mercury. I cannot describe the type of hell that took place. My symptoms were - swollen tongue, facial cheeks drawn inwards (a feeling of mouth constriction), metal taste, screaming and crying fits whilst uncontrollable excessive salivation (had to hang my head over a bowl or toilet), fatigue, depression, anxiety, fearful of people or going out, hermit behaviour, obsessive thoughts, cold body temperature, blue nails, mood swings, uncontrollable rage and feelings of hate, unpredictable, loss of interest and concentration, suicidal thoughts, etc.

Finally by age 29 - 30, I started to see the light. I felt better and knew I was recovering. Not long after that, the improvement lasted about a year or so, then I was hit by a virus/bacteria infection and since that time I have been permanently chronically ill and have not managed to recover. My symptoms were actually worse than what I had experienced before, as they were not healing symptoms, but ongoing illness and I developed fears like I had never known. Terrors of the most mundane things. Continual adrenaline rushes, the worst candida I have known, which I can now hardly even control. Exercise intolerance, etc.

Though I have detoxed mercury, I now do not experience improvements Like I once used to. No response. I am on the candida diet, which was helping a while back, how there is not much response to that either.

I have been years this way and have not been able to change my situation. It's been found I may also have jawbone infections from wisdom teeth being removed. Yet I am too sick for any dentist to bother with. Most do not do cavitation surgery and the one that does won't do work on me.

This is now my life. I do what I can, but my body no longer responds much, if at all. I live with my 75 year old father who helps me in anyway he can.

I believe sincerely that the amalgam removal, though I did not do it safely, would have ended in a cure and a new life for me, as though the detoxing of it was pure hell, I was slowly recovering. But because of some other unfortunate impacts, that was ended quickly.

sorry for the very lengthy tale, but wanted to give a clear outline.

First symptoms were loss of control of right hand and leg within a few years of about a dozen amalgam placements. I was about 24 then. In the last 9-10 years I have had anger and depression issues and in the last 5-6 years fatigue. I am about 9 months post removal and according to my wife, I am alot easier to get along with. I am now off of the anti depressants. I still take a prescription for the fatigue, but I am doing quite a bit better and have a goal to be off the script sometime this year. I have lost over 10 lbs and hope to lose about 30-40 more.

Female-- 43 going on 20

Symptoms since the first filling at age 10-12:

1-Right after filling added in tooth-- in the car leaving the dentist office I began feeling spaced out and dizzy-- as though on some wierd drug. I had not been given any painkillers or laughing gas either.

2- At age 13, my sister and I both needed glasses. Both of us had metal fillings added at the same time. We both developed presbyopia-- near-sightedness.

3- Developed a speech impediment. Unable to speak without stammering or stuttering, and became very shy and reclusive - and the stuttering didnt help matters.

4. 13 onwards, had poor memory and needed to study extra long to retain any information for tests.

5. age 13, onwards, would get chronic respitory infections-- including bronchitis , yearly influenza- sometimes twice a year. Chronic colds every so many months. Developed hayfever as well.

6. From puberty on, continued to have the same respitory and allergy issues, but also began having chronic yeast infections and candidas -- which became aggravated during each menstrual period. Menstrual periods were also very heavy as well- and would cause me to lose anti-bodies, which would bring on a new respitory infection right after the Period.

7. Also continuing shyness and rapid speech, with stuttering. Low feelings of self-worth, poor memory and unable to think of word when needed in a conversation.

8. Teens to 20's and 30''s. All of the same symptoms as when younger- but with peridontal gum issues added. Lower teeth also loose, and the dentist would point this problem out during each tooth cleaning-- even though I flossed my teeth daily.

Also got dizzy spells when drinking hot liquids or citrus, or chewing on very crunchy foods. I would have to brace myself against a table or else stumble from the dizzyness. I no longer have this, but know people at work who also get this symptom-- who still have metal fillings . Unfortunately, these people just brush these symptoms off as "hormones or whatever or, "something that happens a lot since I was young".

I would often have unexplained muscle twitches --especially in eyelid and facial area. This has left for good as well.

Migraine headaches are also gone for good. I used to get these the week before my period,- and would blame PMS or stress. Now I no longer get migraines- even during PMS.

I also am no longer shy-- unless it is around a group of highly arrogant snob-type people. Then I am more irritated than shy.

I am more outspoken and more assertive these days. I also found that I can speak more slowly and the stuttering really diminished alot. I have been taking ALS three months after my last filling was replaced, and ALS helps rid any mercury in the brain.

One thing that really impressed me lately was getting back short-term memory! I can look at a phone number in the phone book and not have to keep repeating it so I don't forget it in my head before I get to the phone. My father still has this problem and he still has metal fillings in his mouth. I wish he would also get them replaced as I did, but he feels at his age, it isn't worth it.

I got mine replaced two at a time every other month or so- and went to a regular dentist. If I had gone to a holistic dentist, maybe I would have had all eight removed at one time.

I also made sure to follow the proper procedures and supplementation before , during and afterwards- and even used a Dental Chelat mouthwash in place of the dentist's flouride commercial brand when he had me rinse my mouth out after each filling was removed.

I used Algin supplmemnts between my filling replacements and only began using Chlorella with the Algin after the last filling was replaced. It took from May to September- and sadly it was the day of the Katrina Hurricane that I had my last filling replaced.

ditto on so many items...

amalgams since childhood... no major health issues (too ignorant to place blame on mercury for minor accumulating issues) till age 47 when a really dumb set of dentists did some really dangerous work without forewarning me of possible danger.... amalgam fillings cracking teeth so I go to have one fixed... dentist recommends crown... takes drill and zips off amalgam filled tooth... next day... VERY stiif neck... 3 days later arms are numb... cannot move bowels... kidneys feel as though they are going to explode, large pus fulled welts on stomach, very itchy face neck shoulders, extreme arthritic like condition, difficulty walking, heart feels like it is in slow motion... return to dentist (must have friend drive car, too weak) to have temp crown removed thinking it is plastic allergy... use herbal product to flush system, get bowels moving... better after a few days but still in bad shape several weeks later... strength gone from arms, joint pain.. all sorts of misc complaints... find doctor for allergy/heavy metal detox... do blood tests/fecal/urine... main problem determined to be off the charts mercury toxicity (w/lead, cadmium, and uranium high also), start EDTA, using chlorella, lots of pysllium fiber to keep bowels moving... using DMSA w/EDTA and some DMPS also... amalgams still in, waiting to start safe removal... functioning but far from good health of summer 2006.

BTW, I see a lot of recommedations against chelating with amalgams still in. This is illogical. Yes, chelating mobilzes the mercury, but without chelating it is like a cup that is full and then overflowing.... chelating does not add to the burden. Chelating helps remove what is able to be removed, it does not add to what is already existing and potentially able to cause more harm. At least with the chelating some of the mercury is being removed (instead of sinking into more new places) and certainly other things that can combine with it...

I got a lot of mercury in my stomach and it feels like ---- well you know, 4 letters... and am going to try a colonic tomorrow. Wish me luck, hope I return safely.

I hesitate to blame all of my problems on mercury. Tho I must say, after a day of some really heavy duty chelating at the dr's office last week, I earned the most clearheaded day I can remember since childhood. I would like more of those., and that, obviously, was the result of some really good chelating.

A gentle chelation may be necessary or tolerated by some of us with amalgams still in, but I would be very cautious that you don't start pulling more mercury from your teeth. That can be very dangerous and add to your metal load, especially if the elimination channels are not working well.
