Just wandering what everyones tongues are like?
Mine has a thick bit of white at middle bit of my tongue and the rest is very lightly white coated.
I have lots of little bumps at the back (are these normal?)
and have tiny little red dots near the front.

My tongue had thrush when I first got candida, and it went away after doing the diet...it was all white and furry looking and burned when I ate spicy foods. Keeping your mouth fastidiously clean is very important cause bacteria will methylate mercury as well as yeast. And the plaque on our teeth is the same as what builds up on our arteries...there is a huge link between oral health and heart disease. Brush at least twice daily and floss and rinse with water and a few drops of teatree oil or seasalt or food grade H202. That will help make your tongue pink and healthy looking again..if you do the diet. Also there is a thing called "tongue scraping" that is supposed to be very good to get rid of the toxins on the tongue.....here is a site about it. http://www.doctorndtv.com/teeth/oraldetailtopics.asp?id=13&b= It will help those little bumps get rid of their toxic milky stuff, it you can go that far back. And "oil pulling" really helps too...there is a recent thread about it...check it out, it even helps my tongue to be pink....and that is amazing for a chemo patient. Best luck, Sandi xoxoxo

From my teen years (after amalgam placement) until July 2000 when I had my amalgams out, my tongue was thickly coated with white. I hated it and could not tolerate the way it looked.
After my amalgam removal, it just went away. Completely gone.
Hope this helps.

Yes Russ, duh, I forgot to mention that..... getting the amalgams and heavy metals out will do the trick, then the candida goes away and so does the thrush.

James, the state of your tongue maybe an indication that you have a yeast overgrowth going on. NOt just oral, I mean your gut. THe coating on the tongue happens during candida or when a person is detoxing or getting die off from killing candida. So it can worsen initially as you improve your diet as the yeast starts to die.
Not sure if you are or not, but consider going on a candida diet to help this.

Hey I have a similar problem. Its got to do with digestion and possible candida. Not sure about the bumps or red dots.....I seem to have them as well so not sure if its normal or if its in people with chronic health problems.

My tongue looks the same as yours, JamesL. I wonder what these red small dots are. I hope they are not a sign of yet another pathogen that has invaded our body.

Mine is very white and furry looking, even though I am on systemic antifungals. Maybe I'm still immunocompromised
I didn't know how potent grapefruit seed extract was and last week I put 15 drops directly in my tongue without dissolving it in water, and held it for 10 minutes. 2 hours later it was nuclear burning on my tongue, next day half the thrush was gone though (probably along half my tongue too <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" /> )

If it's any consolation, this can be die off and healing. To be quite honest, the sickest I was, my tongue looked "fine", yet when I was detoxing and healing, my tongue looked pretty revolting and thickly coated.
This usually shows that toxins are coming lose and your body is eliminating them. I would not look at it as a bad sign, unless you have actual oral thrush itself and you'd definitely know if you had that. Rather this is just inner toxins being expelled and the results of that don't look pretty on the tongue, but better out than in.
So this could actually be encouraging. I know when things are not right when I get no coating and I'm ill at the sametime.

Yeah, Bex I agree. The more I detox with ALA, or get excessive salivation, the more white my tongue looks like. When nothing happens, my tongue is mostly without a coating, and this isn't a good sign - no healing.

Damn I checked my tongue today and it is completely red. No spots, not furry looking, nothing. It's been like 7 years since I had a red tongue I don't know which of these helped the most Burning my tongue with citricidal Putting a lot of oregano in my foods Using garden of life primal defense ultra (probiotics)
My guess it was probably a synergistic effect. But I have been on antifungals for 2 months and it was still very white and furry. I started stacking that combo last week and now it is gone Shows you how potent those herbs are, and I am the most skeptical person with natural supplements.
