My doctor said the detox regimen would make me feel ill. I do. Why?

Possibly increasing the flow of mercury in the blood. But since you have it already in the blood, it might be some supplement that makes you sick: try taking one supplement at a time for a while to sort out which one it is.

my doc says it's the multivitamin supplement, but I also have a tendency to get sick on any gelatin capsules. Does the metals detox itself not cause discomfort. He said it doesn't.

Does the metals detox itself not cause discomfort. I think this may vary from person to person. From what I've been reading in this forum, it seems to me that how you feel from a "Metal detox" will vary based on two factors: the ingredients and your individual biology. If it contains cilantro, it may make you feel unwell, since cilantro allegedly stirs up the mercury that has accumulated in your system -- though perhaps it contains other herbs that neutralize this effect? Either way, I'm sure your results will vary tremendously based on what type of metal detox you're using alone. I took something called First Cleanse by Renew Life and, to be honest, I didn't really feel anything from it (though maybe that's not a bad thing -- still, I had hoped to feel somehow ... "healthier" from it). The description suggested that it may cause more frequent bowel movements, for example, and I didn't notice anything to that effect. They also make a product called Heavy Metal Cleanse but, based on my experience (or lack thereof?) of the first product, I'm not too eager to give the heavy metal detox a try. To date, the only herbal supplement aside from standard multi-vitamins (which do make me feel better) that I've ever taken and said, "Wow!" from is Algin. That's not to say it will miraculously solve your dilemma but it is a known chelator -- so it should help, if only partially. Anyway, I can't tout the benefits of Algin enough.

It's important to "listen" to what you're feeling during detox.
If you feel worse, there is a cause and it's likely additional mercury in your blood and disgestive system. The bottom line is this:
If you feel horrible during detox, you're probably detoxing too fast.
In my opinion, an agressive detox should make you feel only a little worse than usual. I strongly recommend taking Algin with other detox supplements to buffer the effects and control redistribution of mercury.
It's also important to mention that perspiring is a great way to detox mercury. Saunas and steam rooms are a great asset especially after a good game of raquetball. Nevertheless, don't forget to take Algin just before your workout because digestive-mercury levels will still rise and you need to keep the mercury it in the digestive system and out of the blood.
Best of luck and let us know how it goes!
