The Diagnostic clinic is fantastic. I have finallly been properly diagnosed. I do indeed have Mercury toxicity and a very high level of Epstein Barr virus even though my GP said it had gone. Unfortunately I found out something I hadnt expected. My brain is only working to 30% of its capacity and there has been a lot of damage. Because of the DNA of my family either the virus or toxicity has brought on lower cortex epilepsy, which would explain my past convulsions and other symptoms, like daydreaming. 70% of my brain is working abnormally and is full of erratic electrical currents. I have to go back to the clinic next week, a Neurologist is going to take scan photos of my brain to send to my GP. This is because I need referring urgently to a Neurologist as I will now probably have the epilepsy for the rest of my life and need medication to stop the convulsions for the rest of my life. They are going to deal with the other issues too, de-tox and something to try and get rid of the Epstein Barr virus as this is still causing damage. They also said my adrenals are shot. They have told me I will get a lot better than I am, but some of the damage may be permanent. Obviously its good to have things finally and properly confirmed and know that my GP will have to acknowledge the brain trauma, but obviously its also been a big shock and as you might guess I have cried a lot. I have to say they were really nice and I could talk about all my feelings, including suicidal thoughts. She explained to me that these come from the part of my brain which isnt functioning properly and what to do when I get them. I guess it will take a long time to feel much better and to come to terms with having some permenant damage, but I think of Sandi and I guess we' ve all got to deal with whatever comes along. HI Tracy, as upsetting as this diagnosis is, for some reason I am happy for you because FINALLY you have been tested and diagnosed thoroughly and believed. No wonder you've had so much suffering when you consider all the things that are wrong. I can only hope that they will do the right things and improve your condition.

It's like myself, I have so many things wrong at once, I cannot recover anymore. If I was over there in the UK, I'd be tempted to go to that clinic myself, but I don't know how much it would be anyway.

WE don't have things like that here, so I'm kind of stuck. I definitely have some kind of bacteria/viral infection going on, which I believe paved the way for a greatly disturbed immune system, which is probably why I now cannot handle anything. I just plummet or get extreme frightening symptoms that i never used to once get, at least not nearly as bad as this.

At any rate, I wish you all the best with whatever treatment they prescribe and hope you will come through and out of this!!!

Thanks Bex, yes it is a relief to finally know and also to have some concrete evidence for your GP to prove your not just a psycho, but coming to terms with a permenant condition is something I never thought of, so I suppose that will take time and a lot of courage and to think that means taking away othet independant things like driving ect. I know i shouldnt think too far into the future and learn to tke each day as it comes, but I still for a few seconds each morning when I wake think Im still the same old me, then reality sinks in. Oh Tracy, you are the same person, and you will get better. As we age, our bodies don't work the same as they did in the good old days, but it is a fact of life..it is just too bad that we couldn't age at our own speed...but at the pace set by the mercury.

I hope you start to see some good results very soon.... knowing the devil you face makes the battle that much easier.

Hi Tracy, Youve been through sheer hell these last few months and just getting a giagnoses will help cos people have to acknowledge that you are indeed very ill, it makes it worse when no-one believes what your going through.
Your a tough cookie and you will get through this.

I'm so pleased you have a diagnosis. Some of it was what you suspected, and so you have done the right thing in having your fillings out, and are already some way down that path. How did they test for mercury toxicity? Did they say that the epilepsy was also caused by mercury? Now you know what is wrong, you can recover slowly and steadily.

Re the Epstein Barr, I think Someday Soon used cats claw to help fight this. Might be worth a shot, or are the clinic going to help you? Is there a website for the clinic?

Keith rang and spoke to our GP today about what had happened at the clinc. He even gave them the name and address ot the doctor and said they would be getting the results. He told them I needed to Stay on the sleeping tabs and some sedatives for now to control the seizure. Basically they said dont want to listen, wont contact them, not interested, your getting nothing and put the phone down. So here I am twitching and jerking wondering what the night has in store. One of my friends gave me a sleeping tab so fingers crossesd. Whatever happens Ive told Keith not to phone an ambulance cos Im not ending up in an NHS hospital. I have been doing a lot of research on Epstein Barr virus and didnt realise how serious it can become and now I know Ive always had some of the primary symptoms as one of my fingers as moved invlutarily since I became ill. The doctor yesterday told me it can damage the brain more than Menengitis and from what Ive read this is true. My GP is aware that I have it but obviously dosent know all the facts or dosent care. Probably the latter. We will be changing GPs, although I dooubt it will make any difference. Heres to a better night. Tracy x

I hope you have a better night tonight, Tracy. Problem with some of the GPs is that they don't know what to do and are too proud to tell you. You are smart...in that you are going to look into changing doctors. Good move, he doesn't seem educated enough on Epstein Barr virus to help you.

Tracy, this sounds like what could be wrong with me. Either I got epstein barr virus, or it was reactivated by another infection, or it was another bacteria/virus altogether. Epstein barr shows up on testing, but so does cytomegalovirus, etc and yet nobody knows what was the cause of my infection which affected me profoundly mentally and phsyically (slurring words, going off-balance, feeling movement in the head area, and then going onto full blown chronic fatigue).

Since that infection, any exposure to toxins causes immediate mental symptoms nad inability to bounce back/heal. I have been distressed ever since and sadly no longer know what's doing what. I have possible other infections also (gum/jaw), plus incompatible dental composites.

Now normally, a person can heal from mercury once they get it removed properly. And I was, but once my immune system became profoundly distorted by this infection/virus, then things went bizzarely wrong and never came right. That's when other things can become an issue because things that your immunity might have dealt with just fine, can suddenly be a 'problem".

So like yourself, I am dealing with multiple factors, which mixed together are a nightmare. I don't have any diagnosis and really am not believed!

Tracy, I have suffered from seizure-like attacks. They would start when going into sleep and whilst waking up again. I have some kind of inflammation of the brain which I suspect is caused by either the herpes virus or/and heavy metals such as aluminum and mercury. I did a lot of research on alternative methods amongst epileptics and found that the amino acid Taurine worked well. I tried this and it really calms my nervous system. When I take it my brain doesn't feel out of control such as firing ten thoughts at once every second. I am using Solgar Taurine, open up the capsule and divide it into three times a day.

I have also started an anti-inflammatory diet as both metals and viruses can cause brain inflammation. I always get worse when I eat nuts, meat, wheat, oats, oils/fats especially eggs, as all of these turn into to archanic acid which is a inflammation promoting substance. Even fish oil can turn bad in a body and brain plagued with inflammation. The only safe oil is olive oil. So for now this will have to do for me. Needless to say I take a bit Lysine to fight the reproduction of the herpes virus.

I also take a supplement called Lyprinol as this blunts archanic acid and gives me some relief from the brain inflammation feeling

I'd come across references to the amino acid taurine, being useful in treating seizures in several books on epilepsy, though I had never met anyone who used it. A little more than a year ago I came across an article by a woman who had very good results stopping her convulsions using taurine. After reading her account I began a search for information about it and how it may affect seizures.

What I found is taurine is highly concentrated in the tissues of the brain, liver, and eyes. Insufficient quantities of taurine impedes liver function and, in cats, leads to blindness. Its role in seizures is that taurine acts to stabilize cell walls so the neurons can fire off normally. Seizures result from random firing of nerve cells. Taurine used in quantity to treat epilepsy has only one known side effect, peptic ulcers, which clear up when taurine is discontinued.

My small partial seizure I still did not have under control last year, and sometimes had several a day. The symptoms ranged from panic, to sensations of foul odors, visual disturbances, memory loss, and sickness in my gut. After reading what information was available, I began taking taurine in June. About a month later my mental state and perceptions had stabilized considerably. In August my long- standing digestive distress was easing and the frequency of seizures was much less.

By September, my seizures with the bizarre perceptual distortions had all but ceased and I was able to get my first driver's license in fifteen years. Most often taurine is used as an adjunct to medication, not a replacement in treating seizures. I found few epilepsy groups on the web are aware of how effective taurine supplementation can be or have much information about it. On the epilepsy bulletin boards I found a few others who use it, though they had little information to share. A fair amount of study on its function and usefulness has been going on for years.

I'm sorry to hear about your diagnoses. This must feel so overwhelming.

I wanted to share with you that I had chronic epstein barr virus for a number of years. One thing that truly, truly helped my symptoms was a supplement called Cat's Claw. In fact, it's been used to help control and treat epstein barr virus. It's a plant from the Amazon Rainforest.

I just thought I'd mention it in case you want to do some snooping around regarding it's use.

I was one of the lucky ones -- my chronic epstein barr virus disappeared when I had my 17 amalgams removed and my one root canaled tooth extracted.
