HI Paul, there is every reason to do the candida diet, regardless of taking a yeast stupplement or not. It is not certain whether yeast feeds yeast, but it seems that those with candida can get reactions to it, which can complicate the illness. Some do "ok" on "some" yeast, some do not.
It is wiser to get yeast free supplements and selenium is easy to get yeast free. You just look for one in the health food shop and find yeast free. The best one is yeast free selenomethionine.
Also, candida will make you far less tolerant of many foods, so you'll seem to be allergic to almost anything and everything.
The candida diet, should reduce yeast and help your immune system. Also be aware, that during yeast detox/ die off, you can get what you think are allergic reactions, they can very often be healing reactions! Examples might be sneezing, coughing, rashes/hives etc.
So the main thing is to concentrate on reducing yeast and eating healthy foods, rather than attempting to find anything and everything you might be allergic to. You could go crazy doing that and as I stated, yeast can cause this in the first place.
It is best to fill yourself up on meats, eggs, healthy fats (butter, lard, extra virgin olive oil, virgin coconut oils etc, pure fish oil (cod liver oil, mercury free), and the vegetables you can eat. Having some raw nuts might be ok (brazil and almonds) and plain sugar free acidophilus yoghurt. But be cautious with them at this stage.
Trust me, the candida will have you wanting to go off this diet any chance you get. You'll be tempted to ditch it, or cheat on it, becuase candida is a tough customer and does not wish to do "without". you will be the one to feel hungry, but so often it's the yeast itself. That's why it takes will power and determination and patience.
