Hi Strength, this subject is one that is probably not discussed enough here. It was with extreme trepidation (FEAR!!!) that I decided to go for zirconium oxide implants because I simply could not abide the plate I had temporarily after the extraction of my front upper incisor and I didn't think I could tolerate a bridge due to it being the worst place in your mouth to be all stuck together in terms of cranial movement, I already had headaches and didn't want more.I had also had 2 bottom molars removed due to old bad root canals, so my chewing ability was NOT good.Well, I took the plunge and found the one person in the UK who does this procedure, Anton Boshoff, in Fleet. He does not consider himself a holistic dentist but is very interested in biocompatible materials and uses the CEREC method for fillings and crowns because he is comitted to striving for the least toxic restoration. On the day I had my posts for the implants placed, Anton had his father assist who is also a maxillofacial surgeon and VERY holistic so I felt in good hands. I now have the 2 molars in after a 3 month wait and I think its all going to be okay but it does all feel very stiff and I do have some TMJ issues but I had that anyway with only being able to chew on one side, I think all this will be resolved with further adjustments down the line. I must say, though, the whole thing of having the posts drilled in was hugely frightening to me and I did experience massive amounts of pain for some time afterwards, and residual pain after that, but not unbearable.I was just finding it hard to eat a decent sort of diet with only being able to chew on 2 teeth and didn't feel I would ever get used to a plate, and what are they made of anyway? More metal and plastic. One thing I think I can say for sure for me is that I do not seem to have any problems whatsoever with the zirconium oxide material. I think once I have the rest of my work done I will be much improved and I also have found that cranial osteopathy helps a lot with the sort of headaches I have had, also homeopathy which no one seems to mention too much on this forum, but has helped me enourmously with many of my varying dental hells I have been through. If anyone is interested in zircnium oxide implants, it is well worthwhile looking at this website:http://www.z-systems.de/en/html/index.php, you can read lots of case histories of poisoned people making an informed decision to use this material, in some cases they are practioners themselves and there seems to be a high sucess rate, it's got to be better than titanium in my opinion. I really tried very hard to sniff out anything bad about these implants but couldn't find anything negative, so far so good in my case, just more of a problem with the bite that is being adjusted soon. I'd love to hear anyone elses experience, you can't even get these in America, the FDA doesn't seem to feel the need to authorize their use, which has to be a recommendation in itself.Do I sound cynical?
