Hi there,
You could try activated charcoal powder. I have heard this can soak up some of the mercury. Or, Russ the owner here recommends algin. Basically the only act as a mop, so they don't directly chelate and should be safe for you to use either.

Yes, mercury is easily stirred up. Perhaps the dentist did his best, and may give him the benefit of the doubt. Sometimes even the biologic dentists are not always aware of how certain patients are not only toxic, but hypersensitive also which can go way beyond the norm.

And professional cleaning teeth is necessary, as I left it for years and ended up with periodontal gum disease for failure to remove the hardened build up that can occur under the gum (and often unnoticed).

Also, your exposure to mercury vapor, could have been both from cleaning and from being in the dental office itself. Because mercury is either being used or removed in a dental office, the office itself is contaminated. For those who are hypersensitive or ill already, they can feel the impact far more than others.

I'm sorry this occured and just hope that perhaps you can mop this extra exposure up (use a lot of vitamin C also, vitamin E, zinc, magnesium, B complex) and you may wish to consider one of the most important aspects (I believe) to any healing, and any support. Which is the gut/liver.

Consider the candida diet, as the gut is one of the first thing you need to get right for any aid to detox and help of symptoms.

Amalgam removal would be a wise move, by a good reputable dentist.

Best wishes and hope someone suggests a good NY dentist for you.
