I have test results which show that I might have Celiac Disease. When it rains, it pours.

Aaron, My sister found out she had it over a year ago too-

They said I may have it since it runs in families-- but that my immune system so far has not weakened enough to permit it to show symptoms. When the immune system dips-- due to some emotional trauma (my sister's first husband died at 43) mold (her house had black mold), and probably most definitely mercury toxicity-- then just as in Shingles, Celiac starts showing its symptoms.

The anti-candidas diet-- where you don't eat grains or refined sugar can actually help you against celiac. Some people can still eat oatmeal with Celiac-- you have to test it and see if it causes a reaction. My sister can't have oatmeal either.

Thankfully, they even sell Gluten Free bread crumbs you can use to bread your chicken, etc. The Western World is becoming more aware of Celiac, and more companies are making Gluten free things--even animal crackers for children or graham crackers, etc.

There is Gluten free pasta as well -- which I have tasted and it is delicious.

hang in there!
Boldy

This sounds bad, but it could be good. If you rid your system of gluten, this may have a profound impact on your symptoms...not promising it will, but it could and mercury can also cause gluten intolerance by the way. So you can see how these problems offset eachother and make eachother worse.

I hope if you do the diet, you'll see improvements! Yeah I know, it never rains but it pours. Too true.

Bex,

that is probably what happened with my sister as well. She has 8 or more metal amalgam fillings in her mouth also- but she doesnt completely accept how bad mercury fillings are. She listens to her dentist who tells her the controversy over metal fillings is all blown out hype.

Grrrrrrrrr!!

With or without Celiac Disease a gluten free diet is a good idea and I have started on it. I weigh 240 pounds and at my height (5'10") I should weigh about 180 pounds. I haven't been under 200 pounds since I was in my 20's so now is a good time to start working on this problem.

Of course the big question is will it raise my mood? I have a friend that suffers from treatment resistant depression and he was on a gluten free diet for several months with no improvement. He did test very high for copper on his toxic metals test and I don't think that he pursued that long enough. I've read that copper poisoning can cause the same problems caused by mercury poisoning.

It could yes, but sugar is another poison that can cause depression. Gluten and sugar are the worst culprits, though tough to excude due to the addictive nature and the longing of the yeast inside the body to consume them, giving you a sense of continual hunger.

People can go either way, overweight or underweight, both are imbalances and usually signs of toxicity, yeast and lack of nutrition, due to the toxicity and candida not allowing proper absorption of nutrients, thus you gain weight, but you're not really getting what you need (or become underweight). I've had both, gone either way for me.

When you lose the gluten, sugar and yeast, the weight can actually start to literally drop off you (or in the underweight, they can slowly begin to gain a little).

For me, when I was more overweight, I went on that diet and the weight and bloat just fell away, I became a more normal weight. But another time, I went underweight, so had to go off them to gain a bit.

It's interesting how the body shows lack of nutrition and illness in different ways.

So you will need to simply do it, in order to find out how it will effect you and your mind. For me, the depression lifted at that time. It was amazing actually.

Yep, Copper overload or hypercupremia as they call it can cause feelings of depression. Although it is more commonly associated with paranoia and an overabundance of norepinephrine which causes feelings of aggression or hostility etc.
You might want to try supplemental zinc as that binds to excess copper in your system and takes it out. It is also a good tissue antoxidant and helps heal a damaged gut.

My advice is to go gluten free. No promises about your symptoms clearing up but I definitely think you will experience reduction in some of your symptoms. You will be amazed at how many ceilacs also suspect mercury toxicity. there is Definitely a link between the two.
Just hope the world will wake up soon enough.

My doctor said that the test is not specific enough to be decisive so I am going to take another test. More than likely I have it but my doctor said that having that disease requires such major lifestyle changes that it is a good idea to have more evidence. I am going with his plan.

This isn't helping my depression at all. Of course it that is what I have then I have to know. If anything can lift my depression I suppose that I won't mind the diet but that remains to be seen.

Testing for the anti-gliadin antibodies is only 60 % effective. whereas the biopsy is for sure. Even if you do not have celiac's then gluten is still a very common allergen and you should consider reducing allergenic foods because people are finding more and more that allergies/intolerances have a huge role to play in mental health. I'm not saying go gluten free. but I think that finding a way of eliminating your hidden allergies would go a long way to improving your mental health.

Yes I can understand how you feel, I know a person that has been suffering for years and shows all signs of mercury poisoning. When I tell him that he says it's imposssible that tiny fillings can cause serious health problems. He even thinks that mercury fillings are harmful but can't believe they can cause serious problems. So the amalgams are still in his mouth and he continues to suffer.

Yes, I need to greatly revise my diet no matter what the second test shows. According to Mark Hyman's book Ultrametabolism oxidation could also be a problem.

I hear ya Detoxer!

Sure, small amalgam filings will not put you in the casket immediately -as does greater exposure to mercury.

But they contain 50% mercury, nevertheless, and even the tiniest bit of mercury will interfere with your body's ability to heal itself, your immune system, , your neurological system and all aspects of health. My 8 fillings were not very large as some people's were, but it was enough to cause definite symptoms in me that lasted for years- but went away after they were removed and I continued to chelate.

I got the results of my second test for Celiac Disease today and thank God they were negative. That quack that I went to last month caused me a lot of grief.

I feel like I'm making some progress now and some days I can see some light.

Hi Aaron, that's great. But not all testing shows evertyhing, plus you don't have to have celiac disease to have problems with wheat/gluten. Mercury can cause major issues with grains/gluten regardless. And many drop them from their diet regardless of test results and can often gain substantial improvements.

I'm glad you are having better days and hope this continues and increases. What are you doing that might be causing that? Just persisting with chelation? or any other changes?

Bex, while a gluten free diet may be a good idea I just don't have the self control and the circumstances that would make it feasible. Many days I'm so sick that I can't see straight so planning and eating a gluten free diet would in and of itself cause a great deal of stress for me.

As for my slow improvement I think that the Cutler Protocol is working for me.

Hi Aaron, gluten isn't the one big issue, it's sugar also. I mean anybody who is serious about their toxicity, sometimes doesn't have the luxury of choice if they can barely function.

I am one of those. I am ill enough and consuming those things on top of how I am? It's just unbearable. I have to have self control, that's it. If I don't, my suffering increases. It's bad enough as it is.

The illness I have is that bad, that I'd rather suffer intially from withdrawal and craving. If I had my way? I'd eat whatever I wanted, but I don't have that choice.

The amount of food other than gluten grains and sugar is a lot and not even an issue. The only issue is a person's addiction to these foods which I know only too well. Candida is also a part of creating a craving for these foods.

But it's good to hear that Andy's protocol is doing something for you. Hope it continues and you get through all this.
