When I first became ill I became incredibly sensitive to the light, having to wear sunglasses to go out and even to watch telly. Every sound also seem so much louder and my sense of smell was incredibly heightened. so sometimes I could smell things so strongly it made me feel sick. This is when I was diagnosed with ME. Gradually these things diminished but have returned over the last couple of days. This is along with an increase in severe head, and face and ear pressure. Even weirder I couldnt sleep last night and could smell peanut butter really strongly, even though there was none in the house. Does any body else get these weird symptoms?

I had a sensitivity to light and sound. I have been chelating with ALA only. Last week I tried DMSA. Funny thing is, after I finished taking it and was off-round I noticed that I wanted the lights on. I don't seem as sensitive to the light as I use to be. Come to think of it...not as sensitive to sound either.

I have a friend at work that has had dizziness in the past. Now he started having problems with pains in his head that ended up at one eye. He thought he had sinus problems until he woke up with one eye completely blood shot!! He was also very sensitive to light. He went to the doctor and they said his eye ball was swollen. They don't know what is causing it??? They gave him some kind of eye drops that cleared his eye up. A couple of days later the pain is back and he said certain lighting makes it worse on his eye sight. He said by the end of the day his vision is blurry. Do you think this could be caused by toxins?

Dont know Treva I was originally diagnosed with ME and had to wear sunglasses all the time for the first year. I remember going to see a specialist and couldnt concentrate on a word he said cos he had on a stethescope and the smell of the rubber to me was so acute it made me feel sick. Its all a puzzle love Tracy x

Hi Tracy:
I had both too, but especially sound. Like any loud noise could stress me out, whereas before not at all. Even now, I still experience this some. For example, a noisy motorcycle. Before this, I would think nothing of it, or that's a nice bike. Now, it's like please shut that thing down.
There are other weird symptoms too, like such a poor memory that you check and recheck things when you leave the house, etc.. Mercury definitely affects the eyes - I think, as others do, it can cause you to need glasses, it can cause your pupils to dialate, and it can cause floaters in your visual field. I had these at an early age.

I think toxins can cause dizziness and affect your balance. That is what seemed to happen to me, though sometimes I think yeast plays a part. Before I heard of mercury I was researching vestibular disorders. This feeling causes some anxiety for sure. Thankfully, it can get better.
Ask your friend if this dizziness ever gets worse with the weather - mine does. It drives me nuts. You can feel bad, little dizzy on a damp, cloudy day, and then it can just go away the next when the sun comes out. I would like to know what others think of that????

Hi Tracy. I was bed ridden from my 18th birthday to my 19th, during which time I had intense sensitivity to light and sound, touch and smell to a lesser degree. I was so sensitive that I couldn't watch tv, listen to music or carry on any kind of conversation. I had to have the blinds closed in my room all of the time and had my eyes closed during 90% of my waking hours. I don't like to talk about it much because it is still painful to recall.
The thing that was causing it was epstein-barr virus. My ND gave me a homeopathic medicine which contained Epstein Barr D30, D60, D200. I started getting better immediately and I am much better now.
Sensitivity to light, sound, smell, touch and even taste are symptoms of low cortisol. My low cortisol was being caused by the epstein barr virus which inhibits the hypothalamus-pituitary-adrenal axis.
My opinion is that the cause of your symptoms may be one of the following: 1. A mercury overload in your pituitary which is inhibiting your cortisol production. 2. A virus, possibly EBV, that is inhibiting your cotisol production. 3. Primary adrenal fatigue which is inhibiting your cortisol production.
I hope this helps. -Colin

I have ebv as well. I have the same problems with light sound snd smell. I also have little dizzy spells(feels more like my brain does a little flip) also have problems with my eyesight. Somedays are more blurry than others and most of the time it concerns my right eye more than my left. If I am having a really good day all of these symptoms are less exaggerated. I also have brain fog really bad sometimes...so bad I can't find my way, I forget how to get there or how to do something. Whats bad is I have lived in this town for 25 years and know the place very well. But on some days my brain won't function well enough to get me to my destination. I know where I want to go and can see the place in my head but just can't figure out the route. It's a real struggle for life on the bad days. I also took a homeopathic for ebv, several rounds but also have 5 other viruses my doc was trying to deal with at the time. All of that was just too much and had the hex reaction so bad I just had to back off for a while. They were pushing my body faster than it wanted to go and so I have been trying on my own here slowly at the house. I don't know what to do about the viruses except I am taking colostrum, garlic, olive leaf extract and all of those should help with the viruses. I feel like they have and I am not as bad as I was and I am not hurting so bad that I can't work. Before I slowed down on the detox I was in too much pain to work and all these symptoms were way worse. Hopefully with more detox and chelation the viruses will subside and become manageable. Hope this helps...this toxcity thing and the way the body handles it is just crazy. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazy.gif" alt="" /> [color:"purple"] [/color]

Hi Tracy Sorry you feel so bad and I know exactly what you mean. My big burst of energy ended very abruptly. Don't know where it went and now I feel like absolute crap. My stomach is messed up again and I think my viruses are flaring up too. This thing really sucks and I am at a loss as to what to do. I wonder if the liver is really over worked at the moment. Thought about a liver flush but some say do it and some say don't if your toxic with mercury. Do you have any clues about this. I have been reading alot on congested liver and I have really bad female problems too. Maybe it is just the fact that the liver is having to work overtime. Who knows? well hope you feel better and if anyone has any clues let me know. Thanks everybody.

Hi Tracy. I had these symptoms too. Thyroid supplementation took it away and DMSA and ALA also further improved the situation. You can check out my recommendations for thyroid issues here. Good luck !
