I have been following a very strict candida diet now for a few months (nearly killed me over Christmas), most of it from Bee's candida support forum, which I know some of you are familiar with. It involves eating mainly meat, good quality saturated fats, eggs, and low carb vegetables, which all seems pretty sensible to me.
I have noticed though that after eating high sulfur foods like eggs and cabbage I get candida symptoms - bloating and gas - and I read in Cutler's book last night that high sulfur foods will feed candida. I can't believe that Bee with her knowledge would recommend foods that feed candida - so I'm confused... I know that die-off symptoms are the same as feeding candida - could this be the explanation? Why does Cutler say that high sulfur foods feed candida, along with ALA, DMSA.
I have to say that I don't have a problem with high sulfur foods and redistribution. They don't make me feel any worse or better than anything else, but then I feel bad most of the time anyway. Cutting out eggs would hit me hard, as it's my breakfast, and I am on such a restricted diet now anyway.
Any views? Thanks
NIcola

Hi Nicola, my belief is that sulfur has the ability to mobilise metals and in doing this, candida flares up often. Not sure if it directly feeds candida, but I do know it mobilises toxins and that is enough at times.
I have to watch my sulfur intake due to this. I eat eggs though, but just don't combine them with other sulfur foods at the same meal, as too much in one go really sets up problems.
The worst is combingin eggs, onions and garlic at the same meal.
But I eat eggs and I'm ok, I just have to watch it a little. I don't overeat onions and don't go near garlic.
It is really hard to know what to do, because if you exclude this and then exclude that and then someone else says do this or do that, soon enough you find yourself with literally nothing to eat. I think Bee's suggestions are mostly very sound with the candida side of things, I just feel it's complicated in those of us who happen to have other things onboard as well.
Very difficult indeed. Sulfur can cause bloating and gas just on its own anyway. You may need to watch your intake of it so yu're not over doing it.
You may want to post this to Bee, or let her know of these reactions to the eggs and other sulfur foods. It could be part of die off.

It's funny how imgeha and me are related with our concerns. I have been thinking the same thing lately too. What is there to eat? Everyone got an opinion seems like. But bex is right on not getting too depressed over it, just stick to the diet that works for you. Hey imgeha I too is very strict with my diet. I am wondering if your type is INFP or something? Also, curious to know why you said that candida diet almost killed you over christmas? Are you just craving carbs and always feel hungry like me?

Yeah it's hard, I get fed up with the continual contradictions out there. I think Bee has got probably the best idea so far that I've heard (if I apply commen sense and look at the enormous amount of background study she's done and her own personal recovery etc, plus the testimonies and results).
However, people like us with multifactoral problems have issue all over the place. When attempting to fix one problem, we can upset another and it's ridiculous. But yeah, what can we do? other than try and lessen some of those foods that flare things up I guess.
Cravings sugars and carbs is usually a sign of candida, pretty typical. Plus it can be a sign, after being on the programme that the candida is beginning to panic and find it hard to survive. So a person may start craving after about 5-6 days on the programme, which might be when they need to be extra vigilant as that is the time to my mind that the battle is really on and it's a battle of wills.
Candida is becoming desperate and is so wily, that you will almost be mentally convinced that you need to cheat, you need to eat sugar. So it can be almost impossible sometimes to overpower that feeling.

Alex1 - normally I can stick to my diet without too much pain or feelings of deprivation, but somehow over Christmas it all got much worse. I also had a big six-month post amalgam mercury dump - the worst so far - and felt absolutely terrible for a week. I didn't want to be me - I wanted to leave everyone and be someone else. I SO wanted to eat cheese and chocolate and have a cup of tea with milk, and actually did sneak a few pieces of cheese when I really really couldn;t handle it. I'm back on the straight and narrow now. By the way, I'm an ISFJ!! How funny you know about that.
Bex - thanks for your comments. I think you may be right that its the quantity of sulfur foods which matters. Hard-boiled eggs seem to give me a problem, and when I have them with cabbage soup I am definitely in trouble. But a 2 egg omelette for breakfast seems to work. Still can't quite get my head around the sulfur thing - surely it's good to mobilise the mercury and get it out? I have a liver condition which sulfur foods are supposed to be very good for, so its confusing. Anyway, onwards and hopefully upwards.

I just created a thread regarding Eggs. I too follow a candida diet and Eggs are the only food i eat where i can feel a difference afterwards. Onions and Garlic i feel terrible. Eggs though and i feel OK. I guess everyone is different. Though it sounds disgusting. Ive been eating 3 eggs a day for five days and when i went to the bathroom today my stool was covered in mucus which indicates the candida is going.

I have candida. My dentist told me that yeasts act as a protective barrier against mercury. The yeasts actually wrap themselves around the mercury in a desparate attempt to save the body. When we kill yeast, mercury is re-released into the body and that accounts for alot of the die-off symptoms associated with an antifungal approach. Hal Huggins believes in this theory too. So when we kill yeasts (either with an antifungal diet, or with pharmaceutical or natural antifungal supplements) we not only experience symptoms of yeast die-off from the over 300 mycotoxins that yeast produce, we also experience an increase in mercury toxicity symptoms. When I told my dentist that I had Algin on hand, he said, "Oh, that's great! Then take the Algin anytime you take an antifungal or anytime you feel bad die-off." I must say that this approach has alleviated some of my symptoms when I have tried to kill candida. Nicola, I have adrenal fatigue like you and I'm also taking cortisol. I've found that the times I've adhered to a strict antifungal protocol, it's been hard because I felt terrible. We know that mercury can cause adrenal fatigue, and also candida problems can. I think in people with lots of other issues (as Bex said), we just have to navigate carefully and slow down on the days we feel crummy. Someone gave me this website and I think the paragraph explaining one of the myths about detoxing and adrenal fatigue fit my situation very well -- the sentence that is in quotes is the myth -- what follows is the real story with adrenal folks: " Cleaning out toxins will take care of burnout": The accumulation of toxins that occurs as the body can no longer remove them properly contributes to burnout. Exposure to toxic metals or chemicals can be an important factor in burnout. Eliminating them is helpful. However, energy is required to release toxins. If the energy system is weak, just fasting or detoxifying will not be enough. One must rebuild the entire energy system by balancing body chemistry and providing nutrients as well. A one-month or even six-month cleanse is nowhere near adequate. It can take a year just to replenish one mineral. For those in burnout, extreme detoxification programs such as fasting, raw foods or even chelating agents can be dangerous. This is because the body lacks the vitality to properly eliminate toxins, the eliminative organs are compromised and toxins may be redistributed in vital organs. A gentle, complete program of rebuilding and nourishing the body must accompany any efforts to eliminate toxins. In fact, as vitality improves, toxin elimination will proceed on its own. For further info this is the website on adrenal fatigue where this came from: http://www.womenlivingnaturally.com/articlepage.php?id=6SomedaySoon (Sharon)

Actually, this is not the case. Candida overgrows anytime the body's immunity is no longer able to keep yeast at normal/healthy levels. There are people who have committed suciide from candida alone.
Hal Huggins is also contradicted by most other health professinals on his ideas that candida is good and a help. Candida makes mercury more toxic, it methylates mercury (Hal says it demethylates mercury and he's the ONLY person I've yet hear say that). This guy is not always right.
candida adds to the toxic overload of mercury, candida overloads the liver and the gut, which are needed for detox. candida prevents proper absorption of nutrients and zaps the body of much needed nutrition, further weakning it, allowing it to be more suseptible to yeast and causes much the same symptoms than mercury and simply doubles the load of poisoning, plus denies nutrients.
I know people who've been mercury toxic that went on a candida diet and it was the only thing that saved them from some of their horrific symptoms. The candida diet does NOT do the same as an antifungal. The diet is not abnormal, it is how we are supposed to eat. We are not meant to consume sugar/junkfood. So to go ont eh candida diet, is to basically eat how the body is meant to eat. This allows the body to then take care of excess yeast levels and other toxins. It gives the body a chance to lower the yeast to more acceptable levels, so the immune system can be less burdened and is able to take care of the mercury problem more. Also, the side effect of having teh heatlhy diet with no sugar etc, does not pop yeast open, it simply denies them what they need to flourish and overtake the immune system, so they then begin to get sicker/weaker and start to die out. They then release their death toxins and this is why people sometimes feel worse for a time.
Antifungals maybe anther story, because they take over the natural starvation of yeast and simply kill them in bigger number. But they act by popping the yeast cell walls open, this then releases any of the metals the yeast may have absorbed and the metals then go straight into the blood stream and can feel like acute poisoning. So that can be an issue, but in my expeirence candida is horrific.
But I tell you now, the yeast can be even worse than the mercury issue. Yeast is absolutely terrible in what it can do and should not be tolerated in somebody already poisoned. The body can become almost suffocated by candida.
Candida simply takes advantage of a bad situation. It is not meant to grow out of control, but will do if your body is not functioning. Candida is good in death as it's part of the decay process, but imagine this in life?
The health professionals who say yeast is helpful are sadly going to hurt a lot of mercury toxic people. Diet is the best and safest way of lowering levels of yeast, but antifungals maybe necessary if a person is suffering too mcuh from candida and is unable to get results with diet and is suffering too badly.

I have just hit the six-month organ dump, and am coming to the conclusion that I am too toxic to chelate at present. I did a round of DMSA over New Year (yeah, had a great time), crashed my adrenals and felt absolutely terrible for a few days, despite taking replacement cortisol and a near replacement dose of thyroid. Chelating obviously stressed my adrenals more than they could handle.
I am coming to the conclusion that a strict anti-candida diet is all I want to do for the mercury at the moment. My body seems to be getting rid of it by itself (don't know how fast, or how much - but it definitely is doing something. How else to explain the sudden increase in symptoms, including salivation, buzzing in my legs, angina and feeling absolutely lousy, which last for a few days then slowly fade away. These are the same symptoms I had after each amalgam removal).
So I am sticking to the diet, taking the Cutler recommended supplements, and waiting to feel better. It will take at least a year to feel a reasonable difference, but already the severity of my symptoms has faded.
I absolutely agree with Bex and Sandy about the importance of diet. It is the keystone of treating this illness. The candida is evil, but I have a bad time when I take antifungals, so I will let the mercury diminish further before I get aggressive with the candida.
Sure is an (unpleasant) roller coast ride ...

Oh no, you're hitting that time. It is horrific. But yeah, you don't have to take the DMSA. DMSA done andy's style is the safest I know of to clear this dumpage out faster and sometimes can help symptoms (not always), but it's optional.
The body can do this on it's own over time aided by the diet. It's much slower, but maybe all you can handle at this stage and you have to listen to your body and how much it can take at onetime. It may only be able to do it over time.
Alpha lipoic acid is actually the one that is needed. DMSA isn't. ALA is the one that will chelate organs and brain, but it is not to be used until your body has first drained the fast pools of mercury (which is what you're getting now). So your body will need to go through this first for a few months and later if you feel like it, yu could start using ALA. Available in any healthfood shop.
If you dont respond well to DMSA, you may have to forget it. Not everybody does ok with it. ALA is the one we really need anyway. Some choose to use DMSA because they want to reduce their blood/tissue levels of mercury faster than what the body is doing on it's own and for some people though it can cause worse symptoms, other times can suppress them too and help them feel better faster (not for all though).
THen later, they add ALA. Like you, some choose to omit the DMSA, let the body drain out the fast pools of mercury on it's own gradually (as painful as it is). Later, when blood/tissue/urine is lowered (takes months), ala can be used to then start chelating brain/organs.

Uhm, Bex, I don't think I made myself clear. I wasn't denegrating the antifungal diet. I've been on it for over six years -- and prior to that I've experimented with different antifungal diets for decades. For what it's worth, I've had candida for decades.
I did not say in my previous post that yeast overgrowth was "helpful" or good. And the doctors who told me about the theory of the protective mechanism of yeast against mercury did not imply that yeast overgrowth is healthy or good. The theory could just be one explanation as to why yeast overgrowth is seen in so many people with metal toxicity. And it could also explain why people with yeast overgrowth experience devastating die-off sometimes when they kill yeast.
Since I have been a candida sufferer for most of my life -- I've dealt with candida for 40 years -- I know how valuable a therapeutic/antifungal diet is. Furthermore, my own personal experience (as well as experiences that countless others have shared with me) is that when one is experiencing a bad period of yeast overgrowth -- it IS entirely possible to initially experience some die-off from candida when a strict antifungal diet is commenced. The reasons for this are many and I won't delve into them now other than to say that many of the healthy foods (i.e., garlic, coconut oil) that are used in an antifungal diet are themselves antifungal and will, indeed, cause some symptoms of yeast die-off because they kill yeast.
Anyway, it was not my intention to stir the pot here. I was just sharing what two of my doctors have said. Nicola's first post in this thread asked for additional views so I shared what I'd heard and what my experience has been. I won't recount the seriousness of some of my illnesses here, but suffice it to say that I plodded through attempts to clean out my body when I shouldn't have and it made me dangerously ill and I ended up needing a wheelchair when I ventured out of the house for a period of time.
I also know from my own personal experience in Hell that anyone with blown-out adrenal glands has to navigate ANY type of detox (whether it's antifungal, heavy metal) or just beginning a strict therapeutic diet -- that it has to be navigated with care and awareness. People with Adrenal Fatigue, for example, will find that when they ingest foods that are very high in potassium, it sometimes can put them flat on the floor. Adrenal Fatigue means the body is severely lacking in the necessary energy it needs to deal with anything -- including attempts to cleanse, detox, or whatever. See, that paragraph I pasted above for a better explanation.
We're all unique .... and as I've said one person's remedy could be another person's poison. And I do agree with you Bex that in some people yeast overgrowth can be more devastating than the mercury toxicity.
Anyway, Nicola, I do hope you start feeling better soon! It's tough trying to navigate everything -- especially when we feel poorly.
Hugs, Sharon

HI Sharon, I understand. I probably came across as a bit harsh, but I think because of my own problems with candida and how horrible it's been, I tend to get intense about the subject and as I've heard doctors state this "help of yeast" before, I tend to go off about it. But yeah, all views are interesting to look at.
I think though that the diet is probably the safest, in regards to the heavy metal release phenomena that can occur. Certainly for me, when I first went on the candida diet, I had die off, but it was definitely only yeast die off. I had all the alcohols released from them and death toxins, which caused me foggy brain, unable to think, I was dizzy and very sick, headachey and tired. I had mercury too, but it did not cause me metal symptoms, just yeast die off.
However, when I used antifungals, I was totally devastated and the symptoms, were not the "normal die off". Even after I stopped them, having to recover from the aftermarth of how much metal was released was incredible. I had chills, tremors, metal taste, night sweats, you name it, I got it and I had to actually chelate those newly released metals back out with DMSA, which confirms the metal/yeast relationship!
But again, metals can get into anywhere, and yeast does and I heard yeast can absorb its own weight in mercury. But I think it is a worse problem than it's worth. Just safer to bring the levels down with diet so the immune system gets stronger and can better control yeast.
You didn't stir the pot at all, I see your point and it's good to share other views and what you've heard from other people also.
I've suffered it for years of my life, plus mercury also, both have been just horrible. As you know yourself!
Cheers.

I cheated! I had a hot dog with mustard, ketchup, onions, and relish. You've been a bad selfish boy, why do you eat so strickly while others not even aware of candida live their whole lives eating whatever come what may. This was my thoughts that overpowered me to go and get it. Sorry, but I guess I could not follow thru with my strickest diet plan I was extolling here earlier. The hot dog was delicious. Afterwards I was thinking that maybe grains are fine after all. Asians eat rice, italians love pasta, russians bread, etc. Bee's diet is cruel, save the animals and eat what God gave us, namily grains, fruit, and vegitabes. This what was going thru my mind after the hot dog. So I guess candida has an opinion on her own regarding the foods. Well I am back now on the diet. I bought really sharp knifes, replaced my non-stick with stainless steel, and got some cooking books. For a couple of days I have being chopping it up at my place. Cooking stir-fries in coconut oil. Yammy. Eariler, I had a large chicken stir-fry, enough to feed a family. Half an hour later I felt hungry. This must be candida saying that I forgot about her. I am wondering once the diet is executed and one is healthy, can one go back to eating pasta with cream sauce, all sweet fruit and vegitables? Mm my mouth salivates as I think about these foods. Or is it not ok to eat these foods period.

lol, well your cheating isn't nearly as bad as the way I cheat. Try eating one cookie (we call them biscuits where i'm from, but I'll say cookie as most people here I assume are from US) and then not stopping at one, but eating the entire packet, then drinking fizzy drink!!
Does that make you feel a little better? But don't be fooled into feeling too much better, because the candida is in on it for sure.
Depending on how sick you are, depending on whether you get the underlining condition fixed, will determine whether you can ever really go off the diet. Most people at some point manage to include some things back again on a limited basis, but you have to monitor your own symptoms carefully in case you crash big time and it's easy to do.
So, if you recover from mercury, then you may not need such a strict diet, as your immune system will be better equipped to fight candida. But until then, you may be stuck struggling on it like I am and others.
I wish I could eat fruit and grains and things, I see them as natural, but they cause issues with me, so I realise whatever my view of them, they don't do me much good these days. I guess I have candida very badly.
Again depends how bad you got it, and what other things your body is battling at the sametime.
But definitely don't give up and get back on track when you can. Your hotdog slip up was understandable, we all do it, but for me? cheating is just devastating, I'm bad enough as it is. You may get away with it a bit more, I don't know.

Thanks Bex. That makes sence. Until mercury is out, the diet must prevail. Afterwards it's ok to have it all but only in moderation. By the way I am really sorry that nothing is working for you for how much knowledge you have. Did you try all the herbs out ther that are capable of making you feel better? Hypnosis? EFT or other energy therapies? Fitness like at least walking for an hour? Cavitations? Allergies exam? I dont know. Like Russ says, for every effect, there is a cause. Since you can't yet find the cause, at least does anything work on changing the effect? Also know that you are helping great many people and changing their lives for the better on this forum and probably others. You will be rewareded for this, if not now then later.

Still can't quite get my head around the sulfur thing - surely it's good to mobilise the mercury and get it out? I have a liver condition which sulfur foods are supposed to be very good for, so its confusing. Anyway, onwards and hopefully upwards. The glutathione in our liver uses sulfur to neutralize the heavy metals, most of us need extra glutathione too....which milk thistle helps to produce. I suppose if we consume too much sulfur at once, it may bind to too much mercury and overload the elimination system and maybe get redistributed. That is the role of sulfur from what I have read anyway. Sandi xoxo

HI, yeah I mean if you get the amalgams out and you're lucky enough to come right, then the diet will no doubt be able to be loosened up. But for some, they have to stay on it. I guess some people have some kind of permanent compromise going on (like myself).
Yeah, for sure, everything has a reason for it and I think mine used to be mercury poisoning, as I was recovering from that years ago. But I no longer feel this is the case, because in 2003, I got a bacterial/viral infection that damaged me severely, have never recovered and is there to this day. Caused brain symptoms also and has damaged by immune system and I believe also the blood brain barrier, considering what happens to my mind upon exposure to any toxins. I can all but go insane and the effects are not short term. I'm talking months/years.
And as well as that, it's possible i have jawbone cavitations, but everyone I've seen gives a contradictory answer and even testing is showing contradictions. Plus most dentists do not do cavitation surgery here and the one that does refuses to do any on me because I"m so ill. No matter what I say, he won't. It also costs me a great deal of money to see him, due to the 9 hour drive and hotel stay! And eachtime I see him, I pay for the consultation, I get sicker just from the mercury vapor in the office (even though he's ultra careful with how he protects hif office) and I go home worse off. Even though he gives me stuff to try and help me, it's pointless if everytime I see him I get worse. I have no amalgams either, they were done 10 years ago now. But I only need to walk into a dental office and I get poisoned. This is my problem with toxins.
So really I'm not in a good place at all. I am too tired and too ill now to really make much more effort. I eat as well as I can, but since my stupid smoking binge that I did on my birthday (moron that I am), I got so badly poisoned from doing that, two months later and I"m still a wreck, no sign of recovery as yet.
So yeah, I've had many cleanses done on me over the years, homeopathy, mental/emotional block releasing (which my doctor just insisted on doing), hypnosis......um the list goes on. None of them help and I know why, I am simply very ill with too many things wrong at once, which is overburdening my immune system.
By the way, what you said was extremely kind and moving, thank you. It means a lot. I wonder what I'd do without the people on here.

I eat as well as I can, but since my stupid smoking binge that I did on my birthday (moron that I am), I got so badly poisoned from doing that, two months later and I"m still a wreck, no sign of recovery as yet. I know how that goes. I smoked for 10 years. Haven't since the New Year's, but the impulse will be there. Now I just act like I smoke, like holidng a cigarette in my hand and inhaling it deep into my lungs, holding it in and then slowly exhaling, feeling a sence of relaxation and piece. But now I inhale air, so no damage is being done to my lungs. Lately finding out about the link between smoke and mercury moved me even futher with my desire to not smoke. Cigs are addicting for many reasons, but mainly nicotene. That's why you want to light up right after you put it out. A good book I've read on the topic was called "Quiting smoking is easy". Pretty much the claim is that we've been brain washed from youth into thinking that smoking is cool, sexy, and hard to quit, which the author argues are all false. Since now I think that, I haven't experienced the withdrawals I did before. The mind is really a miracle and so is the power of suggestion. Also I am learning to treat myself as I would a dear friend. Like when I mess up instead of calling myself bad names I see the inner child in me who is already physically and emotially hurt. This has been working for me so far. There are some theories that our true self is the inner child, that only needs our love and affection.

Hi, well, normally I'm not a smoker. I've never been a smoker, but was known to have one on the rare occassion and when I did, I enjoyed it and that would be it. But me buying an entire packet and smoking the whole thing in oneday was the stupidest move I made, considering my body for reasons I don't get, doesn't really eliminate toxins. I stay poisoned and end up suicidal (so I can't really believe I did this).
I like the sound of that. Taking in air instead and imagining it as you would smoking. That's actually a good idea. I remember eating sandwiches at school and wishing they were pies or chips and I'd almost be able to taste them as that, my imagination was that good!
I'm glad you quit though! Hope the air smoking continues <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />
Meantime, I'm going to have to try and get myself out of this mess. I'm on vitamin C, vitmain B, vitamin E, zinc/magnesium and eating good food and you'd thinking something would improve by now. I think the candida in my gut has actually gotten out of control, as I'm in cramps daily and cannot really do much bit sit or lie down. Now normally the candida diet took care of this, but since the smoking it won't. i am soon to go on antifungals, but am scared to because i know candida can just gain a stronger foothold and when you attack it, it can come back with stronger resistance the next time.

I have been through an extreme case of candida and cured by a natural clinic. All my symptoms left except the fatigue, which I found was my adrenals. There's an excellent book: Adrenal Fatigue, the 21st Century Stress Syndrome, by Dr James L. Wilson. www.adrenalfatigue.com He shows you how to recover your adrenal strength. Also, I found that I could replace my hydrocortisone (20mg) with Himalayan Goji Juice. If I get into too many toxins, I fall back on glandular supplements, but I'm actually surprised what 4 ounces of the goji does each day. I don't see much wrong with the paragraph that contains the quotations. After 6 years of getting free from candida and learning about my adrenals, I am sure that toxins are the big problem. When the candida left so did all my major symptoms. The fatigue is still there because of the adrenal (burnout) problem. I don't refer to it as burn out. I had some sensitivities, but a year and a half ago I took-in some arsenic that disabled me and now I am acutely sensitive to everything. But whenever my adrenal strength goes up, the sensitivities subside to the same degree. Your adrenals need a good diet to stay/get strong. I haven't been able to fast for many years. I'm doing good to stay on my feet for an hour. The toxins have to go down, the right nutrition has to go up and stress relief is a must. You may not be able to recover w/o glandular extracts if you are too exhausted, so says the book, and it seems right according to what I've experienced. Still I'm amazed at the goji juice. I'm still looking for my miracle tonic...that will cure it all. Tune in next time for all the answers and...the miracle cure! Corticosteroids are created by cholesterol; I have to eat a protein, an essential fatty acid and a complex carb each time I eat....and natural salt, because extreme hypoadrenia will cause sodium to be lost too fast. If I eat less fruits in the morning (potassium) I feel better. It depends on the toxins around me. I have never been able to guzzle a Gator-Aide. It alway made me tired. Now I know that it was because I couldn' t take that much potassium. Your body need s about a 20 to 1 ratio of sodium to potassium. Toxins, sickness, surgeries, accidents, emotions all create stress, and the stress glands (the adrenals) have to be able to compensate for it. If they can't...you can't. Am I boring everybody?

It's not all in the hands of the immune system, though that is way important. Those bacteria/yeast that are able to get past the stomach acid, are then confronted by the beneficial bacteria in the the small intestine. Maybe you just forgot to say that part. This is the main reason that we caught the miserable infection in the first place...because we had destroyed our healthy intestinal flora; probably by antibiotics, or your mother never passed them on to you at birth...or not very many. Then we have to farm those little buggers and keep them happy. If they die, we die. During my candida treatment I took natural antifungals...herbs, and a few other outstanding products that were quite powerful. They were not drugs. Also the good bacteria L. acidophilus types at first, because that's what lives in the small intestines. They kept increasing the quantity. In the second phase they added the B. bifidus types that naturally are in-charge of the colon. My elimination became darker...ew! Then in the last 2 or 3 months of the program they gave me between 500 billion and 1000 billion per day. It felt like the candida had come back! But those bacterium were "kickin' butt!" and making war. You see...the surface area in your GI tract is comparable to a tennis court, and you have to replant that flora in there. It also has to dissolve all of that crud thats coated your colon. So I want to hear somebody talking about the importance of the good bacteria. Without them being reestablished, your not gonna be cured. Health doesn't happen without those fellas. Even in the soil. Did you know that to really define organic food, you have to put the soil under the microscope and look at the bacteria, because they are the ones that make the soil healthy, which make the plants healthy and deliver the nutrition to our bodies. That's why soils are lacking nutrients today, because the harsh fertilizers and techniques kill the good critters in the soil. Candida creates major amounts of acetaldyhide and many other toxins in the body, but the good bacteria keep us clean and free of them. They create B vitamins and vitamin K. They create their own antibiotic/antifungals. They digest our food completely, keep our livers clean, and do a myriad of other things. You will do well to get as many of these into you as you can. I can buy 50 billion per capsule of high-tech strains designed to better attach to the intestinal walls. If you want to learn what I have learned, go to www.thecandidayeastanswer.com , where you can down-load their free book. That's what I did. Of course, the diet is important, too, and if you can't afford the clinic, it will take a few years of diligence. I'm still on the look-out for effective candida cures that are inexpensive. I've just recently heard that cold-pressed coconut oil is effective. Has anyone tried that? ( www.coconutdiet.com) I've also heard of something called Miracle2 Soap, but I haven't tested it yet. ( www.miracle2distributors.com/more.html) Also Donna Gates speaks of her Body Ecology Diet and all of her cultured food products that you can make yourself to add beneficial cultures to you diet. ( www.bodyecology.com) And...I hope you all get better.
