[color:"blue"] Hello All ! I just joined after reading several posts among you. I have Multiple Chemical Sensitivitiy. This happened 6 months after being bitten by a deer tic below the knee & getting lyme disease . Then a week later, a brown recluse spider nailed me on the other leg.

I was asked to take doxicycline one month for lyme disease which I did. ANd 10 days of another antibiotic for the spider bite.

ANd I worked 3 summers for West Nile Mopsquito Control applying dry pesticides ALtocid & Vectolex.. Add that chemicals. I am on a timed computer . More later. Any response welcome. THanks.

I later read where antibiotics driver the spirocete of lyme into the cells & it reek havoc from there-on .. will go dormant & flare up.. And as far as the spider biter, a friend said it will go dormant & then flare-up. Seems inssects have that affect on humans.

I don't know why the chemical sensitivity chose to happen. It manifested with an outrageous sense of smell disorder to fumes & vapor form of loads ofpetroleum distillates..
such as diesel fumes/vapors , any cleaning product whether man-made or organic, perfumes & fragrances included in laundry products, fabric softeners, copy toner, book print ( old or new) , new caropet, frestpaint, some spices, coffee, toast (their aroma), Vehicle exhaust & furnace emissions, wood smoke , all my art supplies(oil paint, water colors, acrylic enamel paint, paper products & what holds the fibers together, leather dye,cat litter.. to name just a few...you name it ..

This has made it impossible, so far to live anywhere else but in my Volvo sedan the past 4 years now. I have looked at many apts. but either the renovations or what people used in side them before get to me.

My reaction is my eyes hurt, face & ears gets beet red, or my chest feels tight or I may fall asleep from a few cleaning products.Or I may feey dizzy or energy drains UNTIL I remove myself form the fumes. At least I have that option.

I am not on any medication , nor wilI I ever take anything like that. I have researched this pretty wel l& found that medications are a band-aid & have side effects sometimes far worse thant what I have already.

So, I am building up my immume system. I am not in any pain & there are several people who are helping me. One friend washes my clothes for me with one laundey powder I am not allergic to after acupuncture treatment. I was cleared for 3 things that actually worked. The rest didn't $5,000. down the road.

ANother friend lets me shower at her place once a week & has to put things away long before i get there.

I have one gas station were they willingly put gas in my car for me. Stores I can not enter due to fumes wil have the empoloyee come outside to help me with a purchase, etc.

I have bben the=reu several blizzards & hhurricabnes & -4 degrees temps, but am OK. Am on disabiltiy thankfully!

I have finally resorted to eating only organic foods & organic baby food. I tried restaurant food but it does not digest well. Now... I have great tasting food & more energy. 4 4 oz jzrs = 1lb; of great food! NO chemicals or Genetically modified junk or large amounts of refined sugars or chemical ingeredients in adult food supplies in grocery stores.

I urge you to consider doing what I have. I also found a multi vitamin that stopped the "road rage" that was getting worse. GABA amino acid & ATP amino acid stopped the excess adrenalinee but didn't prevent it. Purity Products multi did. Don't know why. I have been exposed to chemicals also from working in a cleanroom at IBM 8 1/2 years inthe mid 80's , doing car detailing outdoors, but next to a laundramat, across t from a firehouse(diefire trucks), next to another store whwere diesel UPS trucks frequented. all this exhaust I inhaled whilo e outside inteh driveway waxing & using other cleaning products.. I believe it all added up & overloaded my body.

ALso, the fellow I resided with @ 7 years was diagnosed woth liver cancer, terminal. I wasched him deteriorate & he had 2 backhoes & I helped him with lawn cleanup = drove a triple bagger Cub Cadet lawn mower for him = more gas exhaust here & there.
THe moore ill he became , the more he was angry at me for not being able to find an apt. He wanted to die at home & not have anyone else there to see it. It was just too much.

My allergies began after he had the house sides & the silicon window caulking fumes from 12 wiindows being replaced & sealed got us good the next 4 days from having to close the windows at night. It was in Dec. he had this done, a mild winter allowed it.

I could not get him to leave the house a stay at a friends till the fumes cleared until after the 4th day of exposure to it. Maybe it was what finally broke the camels back for my body. Too much stress & chemical exposure. I was fine before all of this happened.

The insect bites & antibiotics were tossed in to add fuel to the fire...

[color:"blue"] No, Russ..I'm not angry about this ... that doesn't solve anything. I had spent time replying but during the few edits somehow the whole post vanished !

I have learned to work around this "disability" daily. There are setbacks to often, but I just keep going forward as best I can.

The friends I have made help cheer me also. And I
pay attention now to when I am reacting to chemical fumes. There's now way to avoid thiis other than to remove myself from them as soon as I react.

If my nervous system starts going hay wire I take GABA amino acid & it helps tone it down. I have to air out all layers of clothes in the a.m since fumes seem to end up in them from where I have been each day or evening in OR out of my car.

I freshen up at the lake restroom quickly in the morning & before evening. I keep the interior of my car presentable as well. The aplaca blanket sheds lightly but I have a watercolor natural hair brush i can use to pick them up easily.

I just got a new pair of Dansk clogs shoes & got permission to air them out as long as it takes at a friends place .. till the dye fumes subside. The ones I am wearing have the heels nearly gone & my feet & my feet get wet if in to much surface water . I was not able to enter the store to buy them so the lady brought them outside to me, thankfully.

Where I am on the computer is at an Inn. The mgr. said the Christmas tree that was in the lobby fumes made all the help ill so they [color:"green"] [/color] mgt. have it removed !!! So I 'm not the only one reacting to chemical fumes.

I feel sorrry for everyone here since the Inn is soon to be re-carpeted this month sometime & repainted. From the top floor on down, luckily.. So I won't be able to come inside a very l-o-n-g time afterwards. Formaldehyde takes many monhts to dissipate. In my case, who knows ?

That is the nature of industry in the world anymore. To ignore the obvious. Personal well being of those who line their pockets means little or nothing.Many know contents of their productrs will harm someone.

Yes, I would agree that those who line their pockets don't care if their products hurt anyone. In fact, I believe the power of the pharmaceutical companies encourage this in other industries, and there is some good evidence to support this. The more people who are sick, the more money they make. It's really quite simple on that level.

It sounds as if you're handling it well, so good for you. Anger usually does not accomplish anything except in special situations. MCS does cause a lot of extra daily work and that can sure slow life down.

Sorry bout your problem,sounds pretty heavy,have you ever tried any detox programs to try to help.like colon cleaning,fasting,foot ion cleansing,organic body soaps,pure distilled water....if you drink tap water....that may cause problems....looks like you need a good detox ....all the best....Ronnie
