I think getting any teeth cleaning done when amalgams are still there provides a high potential of creating mercury vapour that you are going to inhale and probably get a herxheimer reaction from.
When I look back at the problems I had before amalgam removal I think that the more work the dentists were doing in cleaning and polishing the sicker I was feeling.
