I am from the U.K. and have been just de-registered from a N.H.S dentist because I went to a Mercury-Free dentist and had my mercury fillings out. They said they have de-registered me as I went against their advice and my G.P's advice. They came to the conclusion that I was not allergic to mercury or it was not affecting me after having only one blood test for mercury. I was told that all the information that i had read on the internet was a load of rubbish and basically told that I new nothing compared to the professionals. I was not prepared for this and was quite humiliated. When I said I did not think that one blood test justified their conclusion I was told, what makes me think I know more than them and my G.P. This is going cause alot of problems with me as I will now be known to any health professionals as a person that does not take advice of them. thus making them reluctant to treat me.
I have been suffering with anxiety and depression for about ten year's and researched on the internet that my fillings could possible be the cause. I have only six Mercury one's in which three have been taken out and am still waiting for the rest to be taken out. I am currentley taking chorella.
I wonder if any one else had had this problem in the U.K too.
Any advice would be appreciated.

Just crazy. You did the right thing, believe me. But now you know that you may not trust the mainstream medical system and many doctors are just arrogant ignorants, if not guilty. The internet is a great place to find serious studies about the argument, of course you can find rubbish, but probably not more rubbish than what your doctor might tell you... even rocks know that blood tests are not a good analysis for mercury, because, unlike all other heavy metals, mercury does not stay in the blood for longm and is not easily excreted in the urine, but rather goes in your organs and brain. If you have lead toxicity, or arsenic, or cadmium, if you stop intake you will be ok in a month or two. Mercury can stay for years in the body.
You ultimately will have no problem: if a doctor does not want to treat you because you decided to have amalgams removed, he would not have helped anyway. He would just have put you on prozac or some other psychodrug.
So you have 2 solutions: 1) Try to find a serious doctor that can help you 2)Try to study the problem yourself, and try many supplements and stuff and see what helps.
Personally I am very unwilling to follow a doctor because:
1)After 1 year (or less) of study on the subject you probably will know more than him 2) Most of the prescription medicines he can give you you dont want to take them anyway 3) You are the one that knows better how you react to different stuff and which makes you feel better 4) Doctors are expensive
The advantage of having a doctor is that you dont have to think about your health as much and you have less resposabilities because you are just following your doctors orders. However this is not really an advantage: the responsability for your health is always yours. You are the one that cares most for your heallth and you have to worry about it. Then if a doctor can give you good avdvices you would not have thought of, then it is just a good tool for you to take care of your health. But you probably know this already <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />

Jamie, Mercury is dangerous to everyone. This idea that some people are "allergic" to mercury is ridiculous and outrageous. This idea is simply another ploy to allow the powers-that-be to continue practicing their agendas by poisoning people and then profiting by offering expensive pharmaceutical "solutions" as long as they can get away with it. Mercury continues to outgas 24/7 and you get to inhale and swallow it and poison your body until the "official scientific position" is eventually forced away from their political agendas and back into truth by mounting public pressure and common sense. In the mean time, because you still have some mercury fillings in, I would stay away from sulphur foods and I would not take chlorella until all of the fillings have been removed. Even then, however, some people still have bad reactions to it. Depression can be caused by low thyroid function (mercury interferes with iodine which the thyroid uses), low ATP production (blocked by mercury also), and sugar-regulation problems (mercury blocks selenium used in sugar regulation). Here are some practical tips: (1) Stay away from all seafood. They often contain mercury. (2) Stay away from high-sulphur foods (chlorella, garlic, eggs, etc.). They mobilize and can redistribute mercury. (3) Take a Vitamin E with Selenium supplement. (4) Take a supplement that enhances thyroid function and provides iodine ( Thyroid Support ) (5) Take plenty of vitamin C daily. (6) Don't chew gum (7) Refrain from caffiene and sugar (8) Avoid sugar substitutes (Equal/Aspartame) (9) Eat "close to nature". Raw vegetables should be your primary food. Also avoid milk and fluoridated water. (10) Continue to arm yourself with knowledge. We all know mercury is extremely harmful and dangerous. Unfortunately, medical personnel have a tendency to believe whatever they are taught in school (which amazes me) even when it contradicts common sense. (11) Get this book: Amalgam Illness: Diagnosis and Treatment by Dr. Andrew Cutler. Give this book to your doctor and ask him to read it. It is the ulgiest book I've ever seen, but the best mercury amalgam resource anywhere. (12) Search this forum for additional helpful information. The fact that mercury is harmful does not apply to just a few people. It harms everyone. Doctors and dentists that don't believe this are lacking common sense and are not thinking on their own. They are only repeating what they've been taught in medical school, which we all know is controlled, filtered and tainted by pharmaceutical companies. Anyone who does a little research can easily see this. Unfortunately, most health professionals won't lift a finger for research and are too proud to take advice from their patients. If possible, I would try to educate your Doctor or Dentist. It's entertaining to me to speak to them and reference studies. They get really intimidated when you do your homework. ---------- "Hey Doc! Did you know that?according to the International Academy of Oral Medicine and Toxicology?mercury outgasses continually into your mouth, even after being mixed with the other components in an amalgam filling? And did you know this implies that you?Doc?are getting huge doses of mercury?"IAOMT Video---------- "Hey Doc. Did you know that?according to research from the University of Calgary?mercury causes brain neuron degeneration?"How Mercury Causes Brain Neuron Degeneration---------- You could even print this and give it to them: ---------- Tandvardsskadeförbundet, TF ("Swedish Association of Dental Mercury Patients") ABC on mercury-poisoning from dental amalgam fillings. Handbook for victims of mercury-poisoning from dental amalgam.Nov 1993 (Booklet) NO ABSTRACT AVAILABLE. QUOTATION FOLLOWS: "...The primary symptoms of mercury-poisoning are vague psychic ones. Short-time memory deteriorates. You will find it difficult to concentrate on tasks which require attention and thinking. It is easier to execute tasks that are well known rather than to learn something new. You avoid social contacts which demand that you get out of your introvert behavior. You loose your temper easily and switch between different moods for no particular reason. Little by little, a more physical kind of exhaustion is added to the condition. More and more effort is required to initiate activities and sometimes break things due to inability to co-ordinate your movements with your visual impressions (ataxia). Occasional headaches, minor involuntary muscle spasms or ticks within groups of muscles can also appear. Hands and feet become easily cold, attacks of dizziness or vertigo can occur, and periodically you may find it difficult to focus your eyes and to see clearly. Joint and muscle pains, stiffness, lumbago and similar symptoms often appear at an early stage. They can be caused or increased by low availability of the trace element selenium. Nervous heart, sometimes accompanied by a week pulse, sometimes by a hard pulse, creates a feeling of anxiety. You don't sleep well, you wake up stiff and never feel thoroughly rested. As a whole you need more sleep than before, and you are constantly tired. Some individuals develop pronounced intestinal and stomach disturbances. Bloating is common and diarrhea can alternate with constipation. From 50 to 200 micrograms mercury from amalgam daily passes the gastrointestinal tract. There is usually irritation where mercury first interacts with tissues. The upper respiratory tract easily becomes chronically inflamed and symptoms in mouth appear. The gums bleed when you brush your teeth, red and white irritations (lichen, leukoplakia) araise, blisters and sensitivity to certain nutritives develop, ypur teeth ache, the whole jaw can become more or less inflamed, and some persons develop sinusitis. Metal taste in your mouth is a direct sign of metal-poisoning (mercury, copper). The more poisoned you are, the more serious and chronic your problems become. The pituitary gland will be affected which often leads to frequent urination. When the thyroid gland is affected secondary effects on metabolism can appear. Both glands accumulate mercury. neurological symptoms such as numbness, hypersensitivity and paralysis exacerbate. It is often hard to determine if the cause is in the nervous or circulatory systems..." ---------- I know it's not always easy to speak with your doctor this way, but they are just human but you'd be amazed to see how they react when you've educated yourself and shown them that you are politely unwilling to accept status-quo medicine. All the best on your recovery. I'm sorry so many medical practitioners exist without the ability to think on their own or the will and passion to do their own research. Take care and let us know how it goes.

Cheers for the reply Mate. The problem is at the moment, that the N.H.S does not recognise mercury from fillings as a problem and the only test the doctor could give me was a blood test. I mentioned the porpherin test which he said he had heard of it. So he sent me to the department of allergy and immunology in Sheffield and they hadn't even heard of it and did not have a clue how to test for it! I seem to have lost total faith in the N.H.S at the moment I think i will get some advice from the mercury-free dentist that is removing the rest of my fillings next week. Maybe they will know some place near by that will be able to give me the right test. To be honest i will be just glad to have them removed test or no test.

Cheers for that Russ. I have had thyroid test from the Doc's quite a few time's and they said it was normal. But I do know that I seem to have a below normal body temperature most of the time about 36.2. Do you think that could be an indicator of thyroid problems.

Absolutely. Low temperature is a classic symptom of low-thyroid.According to a well-known website: "Studies done at the Harvard Medical School and the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center find that one out of ten women has some degree of low thyroid by age 50. Unfortunately this problem is largely overlooked by mainstream medicine and women are diagnosed with some other medical condition.""Thyroid blood tests are notoriously inaccurate tools for diagnosis because there is such a fine line between a normally functioning thyroid and one that is underactive."### The porphyrin test is a real good idea. I saw a small group of symptoms in myself (because I was not aware of many other mercury-related symptoms at the time) that are commonly related to mercury and decided to have mine removed. It was the best health move I've made all my life. Both my business partner and I had a dramatic improvement. Wow! Sometimes I get to thinking maybe they are right! Maybe this whole thing about mercury is just a fluke and then I read your description about the symptoms and those are my symptoms, to a tea!!!! Thanks for the information Russ. It is a VERY hard journey, having to find the answers with the help of a doctor. But I so believe that doctors for the most part will lead us nowhere. My sister-in-law's sister has just been to Mayo's where they diagnosed here with some big name for Lupus. Gave her no answers, no hope. Just basically told she must keep going and live with it tho' it is devistating to her and she can hardly function each day. I asked my sister-in-law to ask her about her fillings and she has a mouthful. But, of course, there was no mention or thought to the possibility of mercury poisoning. I am sending my sister-in-law information to pass on to her and I hope she will read it and consider it. Anyway, thanks for your constant encouragement. Think what this would be like without the internet?! Vicki

Hi Jamie, It's outrageous that that your NHS dentist de-registered you. I wouldn't worry about being on some kind of blacklist though. You're entitled to medical treatment - you're paying for it in your taxes! You also have a right to take your health into your own hands - it's your life after all. It just sounds like this particular dentist has taken things personally and has got uppity about having his professional judgement questioned, and is throwing his toys out of his pram. I think the NHS, though wonderful in some ways, is stuck in a 60s time warp in certain matters. And the medical profession is slow to catch on to new ideas at the best of times. As an example a few years ago when someone suggested that stomach ulcers could be caused by a bacteria and treated simply with antibiotics, the doctors were hugely sceptical. The fact that he was a doctor himself made no difference. It took years of overwelming evidence to make them change their minds, however now it's pretty much accepted. Here's a link to a doctor who specialises in "environmental medicine" and mercury-related issues, who might be able to help you with the tests you were wanting. He was recommended by the mercury-free dentist who replaced my fillings. I've not been to see him myself yet, but I was planning to if I feel I need extra help detoxing. Good luck http://www.chhc.co.uk/html/environmental.html

Hi Jamie. I'm in the UK and sadly I don't trust the medical professionals on anything. I talked to my doctor about the possibility of mercury poisoning and while she didn't say I didn't have it, neither did she say I could. I got no answers from the BDA or the BDHF, except the official line that amalgam doesn't poison and that if I have too much mercury I got it from fish - to which I answered I'm a vegetarian and don't eat it, to which they had no reply.
I'm not sure what words of comfort I can give except that you're not alone, and that it's okay to be part of a minority opinion. One day everyone will know that amalgam is poisonous. The future will validate us. People are just very reluctant to believe anything different to what they have been told, what makes them feel uncomfortable, or frightens them in some way. Getting someone to see a different point of view on almost anything is impossible. Sadly, I've learnt that most of the time they have to learn the hard way.
But I do believe that amalgam causes health problems, and I believe there are thousands suffering with chronic mercury poisoning, but the medical professionals just don't accept it for various reasons.
It's okay to question the opinion of professionals because there are professionals who question the opinions of others. It's okay to questions professionals on moral grounds aswell i.e. how they are so sure it's not a baby in the womb at 5 months that it's okay to kill it as an inconvenience. I've long been pro-life, so well familar with being in the minority and disagreeing with medical practioners on something.
It's too bad that you were de-registered, but look at it this way - do you want to be in the hands of dentists who are ignorant and contiuing to poison people? If I have any choice, I'm never going back to an NHS dentist. I don't trust them at all. I'm trying to advise my family and friends to go private, but most of them are reluctant to accept that amalgam is poisonous.
It's terrible that dentists have made us sick and now won't help us, but we can help ourselves by educating ourselves and not being forced into an opinion by anyone, just because they can flash qualifications before their name. Being a doctor or a dentist means nothing except that they got through college. And, I know that on my course there were people who got their degree who virtually partied their way through university. It's not hard to learn what you're told and repeat it if you have any reasonable amount of intelligence. I could have gone as a doctor, but I wasn't interested in doing so. That doesn't mean I don't have the intelligence to look at something and come to a different conclusion to doctors. Anyone with any ounce of intelligence must surely be able to see that putting a potent neuro toxin in peoples teeth is insane.

I find doctors usually get upset when you call them out on what they DON'T know. I think they were just peed off because you are a thread to their bread and butter! They fear that they cannot intimitate you with their ideas anymore and you will not need them. Even worse, you might tell others and then oh no, who will I have to overcharge!

You're so right.
It's a shame that everywhere it seems doctors are viewed just one step below God. The pride associated with being a doctor can cause them to be so angry when you demonstrate that you may know something they don't.
There are, however, many good doctors that understand that learning is a life-long process, and like a good mechanic, when you find them, never let them go.
