Subject: Re: [frequent-dose-chelation] Re: Ergoloid mesylate (hydergine)

Linda,

I had amalgams removed 4 years ago. My doctor ran tests and found me to be
infected by mycoplasma fermentans. I had also recently begun taking
synthroid for Hashimoto's thyroiditis. I began a long course of doxycycline
which
lasted 6 months, a short schedule for this infection which I believe I
facilitated by taking numerous immune boosting herbs. A year later I began
taking
DMSA per the doctors protocol, ie 500 mg once a day for 3 days then 11 days
off.
The last 3 days I would avoid any minerals. 3 rounds of this went by and
then a liver function test, then 3 more rounds then another challenge test.
Then the whole cycle again. I did this for at least 6 months. One liver test
showed problems so I took milk thistle for a month.

About 3 months after the completion of this therapy I began having brain
impulses as I was drifting off to sleep that became stronger but the neurologist

said it was "normal". My testosterone levels dropped precipitously and I
crawled into the office. the doctor ran some blood tests and after my
insistence he explored iron and found I was anemic. I also had low blood
volume. I
began using androgel for teh testosterone deficiency and things improved
quickly, and took iron for a good while.

Soon after that the alternative doc started me on infusions of glutathione
and later added phosphatidyl choline. I took 40 infusions in all. I think
things improved somewhat after this and was feeling better. I "overdid" myself

during the summer while painting the house and was overcome by immense
fatigue that lasted a month. The cardiologist said I had dysautonomia and a
benign mitral valve prolapse. Dysautonomia is an imbalance of the autonomic
nervous system where everything is out of whack. You can become housebound if
it
gets too severe.

I couldn't afford more GSH infusions so I started taking it orally on an
empty stomach. I felt it was helping slightly. I read about what a wonderful
antioxidant alpha lipoic acid is and that it should be taken along with acetyl
l carnitine. I bought both and took 300 mg of ALA! About 7 hours later,
perhaps after dinner I crashed hard. All aspects of my dysautonomia came back
to the max - rapid heartrate, high blood pressure plus hypoglycemia and the
brain impulses became very heavy.

A couple of weeks earlier I heard a tape on Miracle II products and began
taking Neutralizer with immediate benefit and more energy than I felt in a long

time. I became emboldened to try the ALA, thinking it would stimulate GSH
which I felt would be a good thing.

The ALA reaction knocked me down for a long time and really things have gone
from bad to worse. My symptoms continued to increase and my energy and
feeling that my heart is being affected became quite worrisome. I have been
disabled to work for some time and have been worried about finances. Just 4
years ago I was hiking in canyons in Utah and the mountains of North Carolina,
and now can hardly walk 2 blocks.

Back in November I was using LL's Magnetic Clay with the mercury herbs and
felt the results were always good, just taking footbaths. I always see
abundant black stuff in the bottom afterwards. I was thinking that garlic
might be
useful since it contains sulphur and Dr. Schulze recommended it for high BP.
I also read about cilantro and just filled up a gelcap with cilantro that I
bought at the grocery store. I took one capsule and several hours later
crashed again with frightening results. The same thing but my BP was going
through the roof and my nerves seemed to be on fire. The hypoglycemia came
back
and it was terrible.

I got on the internet and that's when I discovered Andy Cutler's book which
I ordered and had overnight delivery. The book seemed to tell the story of
my life. My doctor always seems to belittle my symptoms. After 2 visits to
the ER for high BP I saw the doc and he gave my the ACE inhibitor lisinopril
which has controlled my BP.

Andy's book alerted me to the fact that there may still be mercury hiding
under crowns. I got all my dental records and the dentist spoke with the
dentists who installed 2 crowns in Tennessee and one in Wisconsin. The TN
dentist
said at the time he would not have left amalgam under a crown. I remember
seeing the stumps and don't remember anything funny. But the 3rd crown dentist

said he would have at that time. I recalled that it did look different.
The Xrays were sent in and the first 2 had shallow enough fillings that it was
unlikely that there is amalgam still there. The 3rd crowned tooth had a
large deep filling, so we decided to remove the crown and sure enough there was

amalgam under it. A small one that the dentist removed without any need for
additional restoration before putting in a new crown. I don't believe the
other 2 had amalgam because I recall not seeing any at the time, and the
dentist
stated it was not his policy to leave amalgam under crowns at that time.
The Xrays also indicated that the amalgams were probably completely removed.

The crown was replaced in January and about the same time I had an amalgam
tattoo removed (thanks again to Andy's book for alerting me).

I recently began DMSA with the same doc but I have been dividing the dose
into 5 100 doses and took it every 4 hours. In the interim of one cycle I
wanted to try an experimental dose of ALA and took a single 50 mg dose of ALA
along with 100 mg of DMSA and took 100 mg DMSA every 4 hours for 2 more doses.

Just as Andy described, I felt fine for about 3 hours then felt myself
tensing up again. I actually felt better than fine. The brain fog lifted
during
that time and I felt more energy that I have had in a good while. This lasted
about 3 hours. The next day I had cottage cheese at breakfast and cheesy
potato soup for lunch. Late that afternoon, 23 hours later, I crashed again!

Not as severe as before, but definite cause for concern.

I believe that I was reacting to sulphur in food and that it was stirring up
the mercury that had been mobilized by the ALA. This is another of Andy's
theories that seems to make sense in my case. I have been telling the doc for
4 years that I react to food. It has actually gone on much longer, but
lately it is extreme. I found that by avoiding all proteins I could avoid the
heart pounding and fast rate, but cannot do that forever, so the cardiologist
gave me a low dose of beta blocker that seems to control it.

Well, this is a lengthy story, but it gives the background of my case.
Thanks for reading and being interested. I appreciate this group and learning
from the experiences of everyone.

Hi everyone,I'm new to this group as well as to mercury poisoning. My mom wasdiagnosed with it about a year ago, and my sister has recently beendiagnosed with lead and mercury poisoning, and so I went to a doctor and gottested for it and found out I have highly toxic levels of mercury in my body(through a hair analysis).I unfortuneately did not do enough research on dentists and on amalgamremoval before going to see the dentist, (I thought I was doing the right thingby getting them removed as quickly as possible) and I am not sure if theywere removed properly. She removed all 4 in the same visit. All they usedwas suction and water to keep it from going down my throat, but no seperateair tank for me to breathe through. I guess I am wondering what to do since Ibelieve that they were improperly removed. Since the removal, I've beenfeeling extremely tired, depressed, and I've gotten sick with a sinus infection.Iam hoping that it feels worse before I get better??!!I also have not been reacting well to DMSA chelation therapy. It reallybothers my intestines. I was taking chlorella along with the DMSA and I amwondering if that could be causing the stomach issues or if it is the DMSA?Does anyone have a suggestion for what to use instead of chlorella if I decideto try it again? Is DMPS better for those of us with stomach/intestinalproblems?Any thoughts and suggestions are welcome. Thank you:)

I am one of the people who tried Cilantro on "my own protocol" against the
information of Cutler. I paid for it.

I had had metal problems before the incident, but they were minor. I bought
a $200 juicer, and a $2.00 bunch of cilantro. Went home, juiced the whole
thing, drank it. Thought to myself, "wow, I am really doing something to get
this metal out of my body, I am proud of myself."

Look out. Two hours later I felt this strange flush come over my body.
INSTANTLY my short term memory was gone, rational reasoning abilities were gone,
emotional stability was gone.

These symptoms NEVER GOT BETTER until I began chelating with Cutler's
protocol. Even now, although I am MUCH MUCH better, I would say that MOST of my
problems were actually CAUSED by that cilantro incident. I am fully confident
that I will get 100% well....as a matter of fact, I know I'll be even better than
before the incident, because I WAS metal toxic before the incident.......I
must have been because of that horrible redistribution experience. Now, with
proper chelation, all my problems are getting dramatically better after each
round.

Cutler says don't use cilantro because the pharmacokinetics are unknown and
even the method of action is unknown.

I say, listen to Cutler.

Hi, everybody:

Being pretty new to this group, just like Tom, I have a serious
question for you: You say that it is important to have all amalgams
removed before doing EDTA. Yet, my specialist's office staff gave me
an I.V. EDTA "push" over 5 mins. and I have an entire mouthfull of
amalgams! No wonder it affected my kidneys so badly!! I have been in
pain, pain, pain for weeks now. :-(

What can I do NOW? Is there anything that can be done before we start
removing the fillings? My environmental dentist is afraid to remove
them before the specialist gives the go ahead that I am sufficiently
detoxed!...called a Catch 22, I think.

Thanks for your kind replies. I really need your help here!

Best to all,

i took ala shortly afterwards at incorrect dosing, and started dmsa

dragging of left foot, tremors of hands with certain movements,
very slow movements, difficulty in doing daily tasks requiring
hands.

I started having internal seizure-like attacks daily. I just got a lot worse
instead of better. I was urged to keep on takng it. Finaly, I was praying
for my life pretty much daily. As soon as I quit takng it, I immediately
began getting better.

Shortly thereafter I began taking DMSA (super low dose @ 3 hrs) and that
stopped the daily "attacks", and began my slow ascent towards getting
better

My guess is that PCA-rx mobilizes Hg without completely binding it...and I
am very sensitive

Subject: Re: Help, post DMPS Challenge Test vukazuda

I need some help from people on here.

I had a DMPS challenge test on Tuesday to determine whether I have a problem
with heavy metals, and if so, with what.

I had the DMPS by I.V. bag, immediately followed by 45g of vitamin C. I
fell asleep on and off some time during this. I woke when the nurse
administering the medication told me it had finished and I needed to go as
she had other people waiting.

However, the problem was that I couldn't move, and could hardly speak. I
could wriggle one finger at a time on a hand for a second or two, but was
completely paralyzed otherwise. The nurse was insisting I go as she had
other patients to give I.V.'s to. I eventually managed to say "I can't" and
unable to say more. Feeling pressured to go, when I couldn't even move, I
started crying. The nurse went and got some tissues and put them in my
hand, but I was too weak and in and out of consciousness to actually move my
hand or arm to my face. The nurse later must have seen that I hadn't wiped
my tears and did this for me.

The nurse then let me rest longer. I have no idea how long I rested, as I
was only semi-conscious for a lot of that time. I could hear voices, but
couldn't understand one word that was being spoken. At one stage the nurse
came up and had to repeat whatever she was saying to me a number of times
before I could understand what she was saying.

I was told later that I'd been in the recliner chair for another hour to
hour and a half. Then the nurse came to me again and insisted I had to go.
I could barely sit up at this point.

I told the nurse I needed to lie down more, but she refused to let me and
said I had to go. I told her I wasn't capable of driving home. I told her
I didn't think I could manage to walk safely to my car. But the nurse
ignored all this.

I got up and started walking, ever so slowly to the reception area as I was
very very weak. I was unable to lift my carry bag I had, so I was dragging
this along the ground. The nurse was leading and I was following and she
asked me twice "are you ok?" and each time I said "no". But nothing
changed, she didn't respond to my needs.

I paid at reception and again asked if I could lie down again as I didn't
feel well and was too weak to get to my car or drive home. I was told I
couldn't, they didn't have any room. At this point I asked if they could
note it on my file that I said I didn't feel well enough to drive home, or
well enough to walk down to my car. They said nothing to this, and didn't
write anything down.

I was so weak even talking was requiring huge efforts from me, let alone
wanting to argue. I asked to speak to the Managing Director or Medical
Director, not sure which I asked for. Out come a woman, I gather was
probably the office manager. I again asked to lie down, she said there was
nowhere. I knew this was not true as they have plenty of rooms there and
people often have to lie down for a while in one of the rooms there. I then
saw some chairs in the waiting area and one small couch. I asked if I could
lie on the couch, to which the office manager or whoever she was said "no,
that wouldn't look good". So here I was feeling like I was going to
collapse and this woman was trying to argue with me! She eventually said I
could see one of the doctors there and if he gave a directive I could lie
down, then I could, but I couldn't otherwise. She then told me I would have
a 45 minute to 1 hour wait. At least I was grateful that she at that stage
left me alone to wait in the waiting room, but I made sure I sat, even
though I was too weak to sit, so sort of slumped in the chair on the couch.

After half an hour, feeling so gobsmacked at the uncaring unprofessionalism
of the place, I managed to get to my car ... just.

On getting to my car I started crying. My brain was so foggy I couldn't
think at all clearly. I rang a friend who lived about 1,000km away for help
as I couldn't drive, couldn't walk and desperately needed help.

I feel incredibly tramatized from all this. My doctor knows of what
happened and is very unhappy about it and says she will take it up with the
clinic. But at the very least I want an unreserved all encompassing
apology.

My second issue is that four days later finally I've been able to get home.
I had to get accommodation near the doctor's surgery as I was too weak to go
home. But my brain fog is still massive, I am so weak I am extremely wobbly
on my feet, unable to walk anything but a few steps, terrified of sleeping
and entering that same deep sleep which I couldn't wake from, and just
plagued by all the stuff that goes along with Post Traumatic STress - which
at the moment it looks like I've developed this.

So what do you think happenned here? One doctor suggested I was going into
kidney failure; my doctor said she thinks I went into a toxic overload; I
spoke to my old doctor and he thinks the mercury and probably lead triggered
a Motor Neurone Disease type reaction. Although I don't have this, for
quite a while a few years ago, I tought I migt have it.

So my questions are:-
1. What do I need to do now in terms of my health? A doctor friend of mine
in another country suggested that B12 and probiotics can turn thestuff to
Methyl mercury which my understading is incredibly toxic. Do I need blood
tests to deternune this?

2. Any ideas about legal options open to me?

And I'm too tired to write more, feeling like collapsing again.

So I am reallh grateful for any and all offers of help.

Karina.

Subject: Re: Post DMPS Challenge Test - Continuing Saga vukazuda

I finally got home yesterday - 13 days after doing the DMPS challenge test!
I want to thank all those that answered my email for help and all the useful
suggestions given.

I still feel like absoloute crap. I have improved a lot, but still have a
long long way to go. I've sunk a long long way down. And to think I was so
so close to going back to work. I was expecting to be able to return to
work early next year.

My brain has been clearing bit by bit. My memory is still nowhere like what
it was, but slowly coming back.

It appears that DMPS is a sulphur based medication and I've always known I
have massive problems with sulphur based meds. My doctor and I have had
this discussion in the past a number of times. Unfortunately my doctor
didn't even know sulphur was in DMPS. My contention is no doctor has a right
to use any medication without knowing exactly what it's constituents are!
Still fuming over this one. When I have recovered further I'll be exploring
my legal avenues and to get full recovery of money I had to outlay to
rectify my doctor's mistake.

Health wise I am still very weak. Walking is difficult, but I'm off the
crutches now. I can't even make it the full way around a supermarket. This
wipes me out for a whole day, so I'm confined to net shopping for the moment
and friends who offer. My blood pressure is haywire - massively high and
then massively low. My blood sugar has gone so much higher, but I'm
wondering whether this is due to lack of mobility. My Rickettsial infection
has surged massively from the sulphur. After checking my liver and kidneys,
I'm back on huge doses of antibiotics and attribute a large improvement to
these.

I'm only barely able to care for myself at home at the moment. I just hope
this stuff clears through my system soon.

As for chelation, it's very unlikely I'll ever do any I.V. chelation again.
Or, if I do, I'll do it in very very small amounts. But my chelation mode
of choice is the ion baths by far.

My liver function tests are quite abnormal. Protein levels are low, and
other things are quite out of whack. I think it's the massive load of
sulphur it's had to deal with.

It's hard not to lose heart and feel depressed about all the ground I've
lost. I've gone from being pretty able bodied to been supremely disabled.
I walk like an old lady with parkinsons with an unsteady shaky gait. It's
hard to come to terms with the massive change in my lifestyle. It's now a
huge effort to walk from my bedroom to my kitchen and I'm trying to minimizw
the number of times I do this in a day.

So guys I need encouragement.

Karina.

Hi Paul,I would second what Sandra has to say. Ignorant of this group and its knowledge, I took Chlorella up until recently. When a naturopathfrom a well-known clinic advised me to take the entire day's dosageall at once each morning, I developed vertigo for two weeks.

http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/Autism-Mercury/message/163043

The DMPS challenge test, done by IV, ruined my life. I had it performed
shortly before I had my eleven fillings removed, and before even 24 hours
had passed, my life took a 90 degree turn, straight down. The first thing
that happened was an uncontrollable itching all over my entire body.
It was
so bad that at various spots I actually was gouging small amounts of flesh
off on my nails. Pretty soon, I was unable to sleep for days at a time,
yet I was unbelievably tired. Going up a flight of stairs would make me
need to lay down for sometimes hours at a time.

I became emotional to the point I couldn't recognize my old self. I was
hyper sensitive not only to the slightest criticism, but also to things
where no criticism was even intended. I often broke out into tears for no
apparent reason. I couldn't hold conversations very well, as often
I'd need
the person I was talking to to repeat themselves several times. I just
could not focus on anything. Several times while driving a car I
would be
stopped at a red light and wander off to never never land. I would find
myself getting honked at well after the light turned green, and I would
forget what I had been doing.

Going out of the house got harder and harder. It got to the point that
leaving the house became such a drain, I could only muster up the
energy to
do it after at least many days had passed since the previous outing.
I was
still unable to sleep more than a few hours a WEEK, yet I would spend the
vast majority of my time laying in bed, either watching TV or doing
nothing
at all.

The list of symptoms goes on and on, but my scariest moment came when
I was
in a home depot. I became so overwhelmed (noises, stress, etc) that I
crawled into a hole under a shelf created by the removal of a pallet of
items. I started to shake and cry. My girlfriend had to come in after me
and walk me out of the store. It sucked.

As to why things like this happen to some and not others, maybe it has
something to do with overall mercury load within each individual.

One thing to consider about whether or not to use DMPS, IV or not, as your
main chelating agent. It is a known fact, even by many proponents of DMPS
therapy that neither DMPS or DMSA cross the blood brain barrier. Knowing
this, it seems like a mostly futile endeavour to use this therapy, as it
will do nothing to remove mercury from your brain.

I had hoped Zeolite would allow me to chelate mercury without invoking
the usual flu-like symptoms, but that hasn't been the case.

I used three drops (equal to one spray) under the tongue, and within
about 5 minutes I get dizzy, fuzzy vision (and thinking), etc.

Very similar to my experiences with PCA-Rx.

My concern is that I'm stirring up the mercury and getting it out of the
organs, but not out of the body. IOW, the mercury is just finding a new
home internally.

I (an adult) took 150mg of DMPS once a week as directed. After 5 weeks I
could no longer concentrate well enough to do my job, was tired all the
time, could no longer tolerate exercise and had a lot of pain in my
shoulders and neck. So I don't recommend that dose for your daughter. I
took a larger dose than that as a challenge test and had a lot of numbness
and weakness in my arms and chest pain. Symptoms disappeared over time with
a lot of work trying to detox. Over a year later I am now trying a smaller
dose (20mg, every 8 hours for 3 days) and have had some trouble at that dose
even. Be cautious
