Hi Bex,
For us to have mercury poisoning (and the majority of amalgam patients not to have it, at least to the same degree) then there has to be something in our biological make up that smakes us vulnerable. This could be sensitivity to toxins, slow excreters of toxins, or both. I believe that my problem is sensitivity. Cigarette smoke alone makes me sick and very little alcohol can get me tipsy.
There are hundreds of toxins in the average cigarette smoke. So, by exposing your body to 20 ciigarettes (I think you said?) you would have absorbed at least some of these hundreds of different toxins direct into your system (including some mercury). You must have a vulnerability to toxins, and so this absorption would affect you far more than an "average" person who would smoke the same amount. It could be that you are both sensitive and a slow excreter, which means your body is taking longer to get rid of the toxins absorbed and very sensitive to the presence of these toxins.
This is just a guess, but we really must be far more vulnerable to toxins than the average person, and thus I think we must be extra careful not to expose ourselves to cigarette smoke and other toxins. I am sensitive to household paints aswell, and so we now use special paints that have no-odour (I can't remember their names) and are environmental friendly. They require more coats, but are safer for sensitive people.
It can take about 6 weeks for a person to recover from a general anaesthetic (took a friend of mine 2 months for her perionds to return after one), so 5 weeks isn't really that long for your body to recover. It imght take at least a couple of months. Hang in there <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />
