I didn't get any side effects from it, that I know of. I was ready to kill myself back in 1995, and I could not even function at all. They got me on Prozac then, which helped a lot, but then after awhile it stopped doing much of anything for me. I was in such bad shape though, they told me I might have to be on anti-depressants for the rest of my life. I don't remember how long I was on those, or what they changed it to, but I know I was able to wean off of it. Then in 97 or 98 I totally lost it again. I was even having terrible hallucinations and I could hear my own voice telling me to do things that I would NEVER do. It was like the devil was inside and I had to fight it. I never told this to my family or friends, because they would've had me locked up. I got on Celexa and it made everything so much better. I even went to counseling, but it didn't really help much. They did ask me who's voice that I heard telling me to do things, if it was mine or someone else's. I told them it was mine, and they said that was a good thing, because I wasn't nearly as sick as if I had heard someone else's. It makes me shudder to think back at that. I basically have 3 times in my life that were major bad points for me. I call them my 3 "nervous breakdowns". I hope I don't ever have anymore. With the Celexa, I felt a difference within a couple of days of taking it. I actually could function, and it only got better. I don't really have any complaints about it, but its a chemical and I want to try and get away from it, if possible. BUT by all means, if I was in the frame of mind again that you are right now, Tracy, I would take them. I never could see any use for me existing if I was just a blubbering, bawling, listless, anxiety stricken individual, so I had to do something.

I hope you can find something that helps. I know not everything will help everyone. It's a lot of trial and error and depends on each individual and our bodies, what will work for us, whether chemical or herbal, but I would start trying something, anything to get out of that place.
